    6) You can put off Build Up for a while to fit other things in earlier. Your damage isn't great anyways. Might as well work on other things first.

    7) Without seeing the full numbers, it looks like you'll be over the 45% Soft Cap for Melee defense, but under it for Ranged and AoE Defense. You may want to switch around some sets to shore up your Ranged and AoE Defense values to bring them up to 45%.

    8) Deflection, your basic Melee Defense shield, seems underslotted for DefBuff. I'd add another slot to it.

    9) I think that your choice of Ancillary Power pool powers are fine. Ice Storm probably won't go with your build that well, but Fireball could be a great power for you to help with your damage. Since you've got few good single-target attacks, Fire Blast is another good choice.
    Thanks for the reply!

    1) I'll switch AAO with Hasten. I should have mentioned that this is a post 50 build plan, though.

    2) I was thinking pretty much the same thing.

    3) Hasten moved to 49 for now.

    4) Build up and Phalanx Fighting reversed.

    5) It's a choice between about 30hp or 8% more resistance to the elements. I guess I just prefer as much hp as possible, lol. Went with Miracle for the recovery and hp bonuses.

    6) Alright I moved down a few.

    7-8) Currently I'm at 50.36% Melee, 46.12% Ranged and 47.99% AoE. My melee defense looks pretty good so I don't see a reason to add another slot to Deflection. This is also with Phalanx Fighting's slider set to 0.

    9) I thought the same thing. Ice would look pretty good with my secondary, but oh well. I'll just make my Fire Ball blue next issue and tell myself it's 'Ice Ball', lol.

    SD/Ice Critique

    I want to try out Ice Melee and I've put together a build I think could be pretty good. I've heard Ice Melee has poor ST damage so it was paired with SD. I plan to PvE with this one. Team and solo. Arctic mastery looks like a nice choice, but without some kind of AoE Immob, Ice Storm would drive me crazy. Ice Patch is an option, but I couldn't find a way to fit it in. Maybe I missed something? Would Ice Patch even contain the enemy long enough for Ice Storm to finish? Oh and Fire Blast over Melt Armor? If there's anything else I could change or move around, let me know. Thanks.

    I would not slot Kinetic Combat in all my attacks. If you really want to keep them in there, then at least remove the procs and replace them with Dam/Acc HOs.
  8. Just from quickly glancing.. Fiery Embrace, Burn and Ball Lightning are all in need of some love.

    Edit: Could use more recharge bonus, too.

  10. Ah, well if you're not worried about KB protection then lose the Steadfast in Plasma and throw it there. You'll lose a little HP but it won't really matter.

    Edit: You also have the option to lose SJ, pick up Temp Protection and slot it there while retaining KB protection and HP.

  12. If you wanted some Defense, try my current build out. It is for farming only. Both Punch and Haymaker were used as set mules. It comes with solid Recharge, HP, Defense and Damage. Recovery is manageable but could be better. With Foot Stomp you can slot a 6th Obliteration for the defense bonus or throw that awesome FF Proc in. If you go the FF route, consider slotting an Arma set later on.

    FM/SD and DM/SD

    He pointed out some stuff I forgot to mention. I have a 50 DM/SD Brute and FM/SD Scrap. The heal is so nice. Also, with the tohit debuffs stacked, you can safely solo Positron and other AVs that reduce your defense. I tried to solo Posi with my FM and it just was not gonna happen but I've done it twice with my DM. Now I can't give a direct comparison since the DM/SD is a Brute, but he does feel a bit faster sometimes. It's close call for me, though.

    There are numerous threads about this. I believe the general consensus is that DM/SD is better when using high recharge builds. FM/SD is better when using a lower recharge build. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

    In order to gain in rech and other bonuses, Lunge had to be ignored and Impale got to be a set mule for the time being. I've used a Spines/Regen for years and when I farmed rarely did I use Lunge. However, I do feel the hurt a little with Impale. Might test out some other sets for it. As far as Burn goes, I just can't bring myself to use it without some kind of Immob. Guess I've been spoiled with my SS/Fire, eh? The KD proc is fun and still helps a little since Spines tends to make enemies run some. Or maybe it's just Quills causing that?
  17. So not much love for dark? I had been looking at a DB or Kat/Dark. I haven't had an Invul for years so I will try either DB or Kat with Invul or Dark.. Might just flip a coin for each, lol.
  18. Here's my build. I went for good melee defense, recov and recharge. This is a pure farming build. You would want to change Impale to a damage set and maybe Quills as well. You also have a free slot to toy around with that is currently used in Throw Spines for the KB proc. I would probably move it to Temp Protection and slot another Steadfast for KB protection and a Recovery bonus if I was going to be doing more than just farming. I completed this build around double Influence weekend and it works like a champ.

  19. I love Scraps and Brutes. This past month I have created an army of Brutes and enjoyed leveling each one. Now it's time to make a few Scrappers. I have a 50 Spines/Regen, Spines/Fire, BS/WP, Claws/SR and FM/SD. Any suggestions for a new Scrap? I PvE only now thanks to the 'improvements' to PvP. I like to solo AVs, Farm, and run AE/TFs. I have never tried DB, MA or Kat. I also have not tried DA or Invul for Scrappers. I have a 50 DM/SD Brute and that is one combo that I keep thinking about. So many people on the forums say how great it is for Scrappers. If anyone has a sick combo let me know!

    Edit: Money is not an issue so if it requires a lot of influence to pull off, that's cool.
  20. Think I've replaced my Spines/Regen with a new favorite Scrapper. I just got the 4 Accolades for HP/End and fully IO'd him out! Soloed Hro'Something and Chimera at the same time without Inspirs/Temps and he can farm too! Chimera was easy.. all he did was use a bow and arrow. Btw, I plan to respec out of CP for OwtS.

  24. Grats! Did the same thing with my FM/SD last night. Took down Hro'Dtohz and Black Scorp, though.

    Edit: And yeah, DM/SD is awesome for AVs. Used my Brute version to kill Positron. I had to use a couple inspirs for that fight.
