Quote:This happens all the time outside the MMO world....-sigh- If I'm paying more to get the complete contents of a booster pack that already exists at a pre-established price being able to NOT buy parts doesn't actually make it NOT cost more to buy an item for $12 I could previously buy for $10.
An item comes out, and eventually the price goes up.
Is that screwing people who didn't buy it in the first place? Possibly.
But the reverse happens as well.
An item comes out, and the price eventually goes down.
Is that screwing people who bought it in the first place? Possibly.
It just sounds like the business world to me. -
I currently have three 60 day Time Cards, and one 30 day Game Card (the kind with the Jet Pack) that I got as gifts a while back, but have yet to use due to being on a recurring annual subscription.
Will I be able to trade these in for Paragon Points the way you could NCcoin back in the day (Example: 30 day Game Card cost $20 = 1600 Paragon Points or 60 day Time Card cost $30 = 2400 Paragon Points), or will I be required to use them to add time to my subscription? -
Near as I can tell, all you have to do to make the jump from Free to Premium is spend money once on the game.
So if you are a free player and want to join an SG, just cough ip $5 or so for Paragon Points and use them on something cool, and join whatever SG you want. -
If you're willing to volunteer to help a vendor or other company in attendance you can get a pass for that day.
I know Mile High Comics is looking for people to help them load their trucks after the show loses on the last day.... -
Eden Studios was supposed to create the game.
If memory serves, some of the Devs (I seem to remember Jack being the main one) was close friends with George Vasilakos, the founder of Eden (The Vahzilok are named after him).
Around the time the game was supposed to really get a big push, Eden ran into a bit of financial trouble and had to postpone it indefinitely.
By the time Eden was back in decent shape, NCSoft had bought the rights to CoH, and it seems the deal died around that time.
You can find the link to download the Quickplay version for free here:
http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.p...s_id=2979&it=1
And there is actually a printed copy of the Quickplay verison of the game available on Ebay right now. -
Just to give folks a heads up who went to PAX last year, it is NOT in the same location.
Last year it was at the Hynes Convention Center, and this year it is in the new Boston Convention Center. I only say this because both venues have a Westin Hotel nearby. -
I was reading a scribbled note in an older notebook that said "....goes w/ interceptor...'
For whatever reason, my mind siezed on it and Winterceptor was born!!! -
Quote:Option 2.Hey, folks. So I have two overarching philosophies when it comes to the Art Direction in COH: first, that we continue to improve the quality bar with every new initiative we undertake and second, that we not forget about the legacy art as this happens. But when it comes to legacy art, there are of course items in the Costume Creator that are starting to show their age. We could hypothetically remake these assets with crisper, more detailed textures and modern shaders and do our best to maintain the 'flavor' and 'feel' of the originals, with the goal of giving you the same stuff, only better.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But then there's a choice on how to deploy them, and that's where this very informal poll comes in: How would you, the players, want to approach this issue?
HYPOTHETICAL OPTION 1: Old assets would be removed from the Costume Creator menu and you'd have the newer, updated ones instead.
Pro: This raises the overall quality bar of the game by eliminating the oldest, least-attractive pieces; players look cooler; everything looks more consistent and modern. Less menu clutter.
Con: change is scary; perhaps some players will prefer the old pieces?
HYPOTHETICAL OPTION 2: We leave the old version alone and put the new version immediately below it in the Costume Creator.
Pro: Nothing is 'taken away.'
Con: Outmoded art remains, clashes progressively more with newer, modern assets. Menus swell with 2 options for each basic piece, making it harder to navigate.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So you can see where I stand on this.Personally, I'd like to see the game's art evolve, improve, and remain consistent, so I much prefer Option 1. But as always, I'd be interested to hear what you guys think about this. Do me a favor and please keep your posts short and to the point.
Possible grist for the mill:
--non-animated tails were left in Costume Creator when Animated Tails were added. Do any of you use the non-moving ones at this point?
Keep the static tails. -
These IOs can be slotted now.
-
Put me down for alternate animations for the entire Dual Pistols set.
I love the Gun-Fu look, but if your character concept is more 'Wild West' or 'Pulp action' inspired, then it doesn't exactly fit. -
Skippy Sidekick?
Why am I visualizing a number of redside players lookign for their crowbars? -

This issue also happened to me.
Logging out and back in didn't work, but closing CoH and restarting did.
Very frustrating for a person who does as much market work as I. -

Here's how NCSoft fared in the results (according tto the issue that arrived in the mail today....)
CoH and Aion both made decent showing in the Best MMO of 2009, losing out to World of Warcraft (big shock).
Aion won best MMo Release of 2009.
Best Sci-Fi/Superhero MMo of 2009: CoH!!!!!!! -
You could try to get in an an "Enforcer."

Quote:Was that the same tour that put you at the First 9and last) Annual WizardWorld Boston? Many moons ago, during the COV launch, I went on a press tour with the COH crew that included stops in Pennsylvania and New York. Had a great time, and I'm so glad we'll get the chance to visit the East Coast again next month. Really looking forward to the show and to seeing you guys at the Meet n' Greet. We've got so much juicy new stuff to share with you guys, and it kills me that I have to wait 'til the end of March to say anything else on the topic.
Anyway, see you then! -
I took a leap of faith back in October, and man am I glad I did!!!!
See you at PAX!!!! -
I've been hoping for an answer to this as well.... I'm still holding out hope that since no final schedule has been announced that they will be there, or NCSoft will have some presence at a minimum.

Quote:I, and especially my 3 year old daughter, would love to see the costume creator on the iPad. It doesn't need to connect to the game or even transfer the costume designs.
Her favourite iPhone games involve dressing ballerinas, superheroes, and princesses, so the CoH costume creator would provide many hours of fun.
There's an app for dressing superheroes!?!!!! -
I would love it if there wasa way to access the WW's/BM server on a mobile device, even if it were read only.
It would also be pretty cool to be able to find out which of my global friends were online without having to log in.
Heck, while I'm at it, I would love to be able to chat on the game's global channels through my phone.... -
Well, it's been a few hours since the new iPad was unveiled, and I was wondering if/when we'll be seeing any CoH apps for these platforms.
