    -Ice Bolt/Dark Blast/Neutrino Bolt

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Incidentally, isn't that the one?

    [/ QUOTE ]

You are. Blaze and Fireball should be here.

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
    -Power Blast/Power Burst/Tenebrous Tentacles

    [/ QUOTE ]

Technically different (e.i. longer) but practically indistinguishable from the Flares/Power Bolt/etc. animation.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not true. Those powers are a pronounced cast forward with open hands.

    [ QUOTE ]
If that's what Bitter Ice Blast uses, what does Freeze Ray use? I thought it was the backhand toss?

    [/ QUOTE ] I couldn't remember. I think the right hand cast.

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
    -Blazing Bolt
    -Bitter Freeze Ray/Thunderous Blast

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm pretty sure those either use the same animation, or use animations incredibly similar to each other.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If I remember correctly, BBolt is taking a dump followed by pushing hands forward.

    [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
    -Tesla Cage/old Flares
    -Rain of Fire/Ice Storm/Blizzard

    [/ QUOTE ]

Again, I'm not sure if those are technically different or not, but they look like the same animation.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Former have hands at a 45 angle forward, latter have them 45 angle to the sides and head back.

    -Neutron Bomb/Repulsion Bomb

    [/ QUOTE ]

Neutron Bomb I haven't seen, but doesn't Repulsion Bomb use the same animation as the Power Push family?

[/ QUOTE ] That's Force Bolt. This is the "make stuff over head and throw" family.

    [ QUOTE ]
Hell, Assault Rifle and Archery practically use the same animation for all 9 powers

    [/ QUOTE ]

    AR:
    Burst
    Slug/Buckshot/Beanbag/M30 Grenade/Sleep Grenade
    Sniper Rifle/LRM Rocket
    Flamer
Full Auto <- MIGHT be /Flamer
    Ignite

    Archery:
    -Snap
    -Aimed
    -Fistful
    -Blazing/Explosive/Stunning
    -Ranged
    -Rain of Arrows

Very much what I'm hoping to see. Practically speaking, though they really DO try to shake things up, most "blast" powers share the same 5-6 animations between all sets that have them. There's Energy Blast's Power Bolt with two fists closed, Energy Blast's Power Blast with two palms open, Fire Blast's Fireball with one palm open, Fire Blast's Fire Blast that's more of a toss, Ice Blast's Freeze Ray that's a backhand toss and... That's pretty much it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    -Flares/Energy Bolt/Nightfall/Lightning Bolt
    -Fire Blast/Blaze/Ice Blast
    -Ice Bolt/Dark Blast/Neutrino Bolt
    -Gloom/Cosmic Burst/Charged Bolts
    -Power Blast/Power Burst/Tenebrous Tentacles
    -Bitter Ice Blast/Energy Torrent/Ball Lightning
    -Proton Volley/Sniper Blast/Zzap

    -Tesla Cage/old Flares
    -Rain of Fire/Ice Storm/Blizzard
    -Power Push/Torrent
    -Life Drain
    -Blazing Bolt
    -Bitter Freeze Ray/Thunderous Blast
    -Electron Haze
    -Irradiate
    -Short Circuit
    -Neutron Bomb/Repulsion Bomb
  3. With all due respect Zombie (lots and lots), those sets won't work as the appropriate sets. They just won't. My suggestions:

    Blaster Dark Blast:
    1: Dark Blast
    1: Gloom
    2: Night Fall
    6: Moonbeam
    8: Aim
    12: Torrent
    18: Life Drain (+Damage, -Range, +Damage, +Rech, +Damage)
26: Dark Obliteration (Looks like Dark Pit but deals damage)
    32: Blackstar

    Blaster Dark Manipulation
    Ideas:
    -'troller ST Immob (Shadow Grasp?)
    -Shadow Punch
    -Smite
    -Cloak of Shadows?
    -Siphon Life? As 38?
    -Touch of Fear?
    -Build Up OR Soul Drain
    -Dark Consumption?
    -Death Shroud?

    Controller Dark Miasma
    1: Twilight Grasp
    2: Tar Patch
    4: Darkest Night
    10: Howling Twilight
    16: Shadow Fall
    20: Torrent (KD, +dam, -tohit)
    28: Petrifying Gaze
    35: Black Hole
    38: Dark Servant

    Controller/Dominator Dark Control
    Throwing out ideas here:
-ST Hold ties enemy to ground with dark tentacles
-AoE Hold is a wider-cone Tenebrous Tentacles
    -Petrifying Gaze here
-Chill of the Night would work here, for once (see Hot Feet, Arctic Air).
-Shadow Knight? (Shadow Punch, Smite, Dark Blast, Death Shroud)

    Dominator Dark Assault
This one's gonna be tricky. The two "trick" powers from Dark Melee are already taken up by Soul Mastery

    ........??
    I'm confused.
What does showing the new character coming in I16 creator have to do with being able to play around without before closed beta?

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you're not in Closed Beta, you can still futz around with the Character Creator.

I leave it as an exercise for the readers to interpret his bran-related comment in light of this new information. I submit that it is highly relevant to the content of his posts.

My interpretation: He's a troll who thinks he's funny.

  8. Arc 29262 - Hopeless
    Level Range:
    21-30

Villainous arcs aren't easy. There's two hundred thousand villains out there, and two thousand motivations between them. Whatever you do, you have to assume -something- about the player. Thankfully, there's a motivation that's easy widespread enough, and it's money. And money is what you're offered here.

The offering is done by a legit Etoile businessman. His granddaughter has gone missing - but no, he doesn't want your help. The heroes tried to help. The RIP tried to help. Now, he just wants you to find the culprits, and beat them into a fine paste. This is another thing the arc assumes: You're not above killing. You're asked to kill.

Of course, as you find the ones responsible for Hope being gone, it turns out it's not that simple. It's never that simple. What you're faced with, is a choice. A choice AE has given us in the past. A choice the devs have given us once, twice, thrice. But it's a choice I haven't seen delivered with this level of gut punch before. I offer applause. The choice is as villainous as it should. No less.

Past the story, the arc holds its own. The maps, thanks to patrols and random bosses, aren't empty. The enemy groups change just fast enough. There is a clear logical chain of events that I require. There is writing of quality that is nothing but superb, especially a optional clue in mission two. It fits within its level range as far as enemies, zone and scope are concerned, and it's dark. It's a darkness that City of Villains could use. Not the good-hating evil brand evil of Themari. Not the gleeful crushing of hope of Phipps. It's the selfish darkness of a self-motivated villain who is ready to tread on whatever shreds of innocence are left in this world if it means gain. This, this is what I hate. And in hatred, I need it.

This arc asks dark questions. Questions that should be asked. Questions that should be pondered. If there was a contact I would wish see put into the game, it would be this, to flesh out Nerva, to flesh out the plot. It's unlikely to happen. This is a dark arc. The player's actions would never be allowed in a T rated game. Though who knows. Who knows.

According to fate, they guy can't start a fight with me (or any Chosen One) since that will eventually lead to the destruction of Earth due to our epic-ness. Likewise, I can't take him on in a war for the same reason. I have the advantage though, my character has already defeated him in a possible future and I don't care if the world gets destroyed (that IS my character's goal after all ).

    [/ QUOTE ]

Nope. According to fate, Recluse can't use you to take over the world in the way he originally intended when he busted your [censored] from the Zig. Period. He decided to keep you around because you're a powerful guy, possibly near or equal in power to one of his lieutenants and even himself, and he knows full well he can use those for his other schemes - Recluse's Victory, anybody?

By the way, I'd like to point something often omitted out. Temporal scaling. When you're sent back in time, you're changed to the power level you would have had at the time. Now, if you were sent forward to the time you just helped Recluse take on the world, and he just had to go through fighting you once...
  10. [ QUOTE ]
I was kinda ticked about this whole tip-toeing around Recluse business myself. Dude, I kicked your future self's butt, if we fight, the world is doomed... you're gonna let me borrow your Lieutenants and anything else I want and you'll like it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is still the guy who pays your hospital bill and keeps the Arbiter Drones from vaporizing you. He's only letting you run around (some of) his Isles because he feels you can be of use yet.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
If it is the same list I saw last week, and I am 99% certain it is, then it contains everything being proliferated in I16.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Speaking of Rad Blast, are we to expect a direct port, or will it get the Psychic Blast treatment (the removal of an AoE in favor of the matching Manipulation, toning down the damage on the control power, adding a new ST attack)?

Speaking of Radiation Manipulation, can we expect that in the future as a prequel to Radiation Melee?
  12. [ QUOTE ]

    Tell?

    (the piece, not the player)
  14. [ QUOTE ]
So what is the first thing you are doing with this?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Giving my Tanker (member of the elite soldiers of a subterranean race) some proper goggles.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
    1. During Posi TF, the Abominations dont all start on thier feet, some are lying down. Nice touch.

    2. During Posi TF, the CoT are using alot more "poses" as well.

Updating Generic Spawns to no longer use Menace, but use unique animations. Affected groups: Generic (a catchall), Contaminated, Vahzilok, Freakshow, Sky Raiders, Circle Of Thorns, The Lost, Tsoo, Banished Pantheon, Devouring Earth, Crey.

    [/ QUOTE ]
  16. Okay, I admit I might be wrong.

Still, to me it seems as if either something got borked in the code, or all groups were set to boss-heavy (like Freakshow and Rikti/Lost) by accident.
  17. Don't know if it's new but it feels wrong.

The Animated Stone's dismiss animation is "run back and fade" which makes little sense for an elemental.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
Since the battle details are large enough to spawn Bosses on CL2

    [/ QUOTE ]

That's not the battles. Boss spawns are borked right now, and show up even on CL2 solo.
  19. The huge-[censored] pistons found in Council bases have a new, great sound.
  20. [ QUOTE ]
I'm really trying not to threadjack you anymore, but I couldn't resist this one since it seems to be a technical rather than stylistic matter.

Why does it matter if the whole arc isn't set to exactly the same level range? Are you worried about level 15 characters getting XP in one mission but not the next? IMHO there's no real difference between fighting at level 1 and getting auto-SKd up to level 5, so I'm assuming it's the upper level that matters to you...

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's bloody annoying to have your level shift between missions, is what.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
None of those pictures give me the creeps, except for this one.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Cutest thing I've seen all day.
  22. My 30ish /Ice dom can now actually kill something.

A minion dies to a full attack chain.

    I'm good.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
    Who? Huh? What?

    I'm lost...

    [/ QUOTE ]

    BABs said TF, meant SF.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
Something that I haven't seen any comments on is the visual effect applied to characters at the end of a cutscene during the Anniversary TF. It's a screen-space effect, something that doesn't exist anywhere else in the game, which required whole new tech to make happen (and which we're already trying to figure out ways to utilize elsewhere).

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you mean the pop-up narration box, I for one absolutely loved it and then some. -That- is what a cut scene should look like.

[edit]If you're looking for places to put that in, let me offer a suggestion: Objective completion messages in the MA.
  25. [ QUOTE ]
Hey BaBs. I remember awhile ago, there was this one emote I cant seem to find.

It had a standing version and a kneeling version to it. It was kinda like research but instead of a book... I think you were welding or using some kind of item.

Did you list that and if so, which one is it?
Also, if its not, am I just out of my mind or was there once that sort of emote?

    Thanks,

    -Sin

    [/ QUOTE ]

The animations are Welding and Welding_Low but they are not available to players, which is a terrible pity.
