  1. I've had several differents alts hanging out in grandville at the base portal to get the Monitor duty badge, and lately to confirm it's really bugged.

Several alts have been there for weeks now, without even the badge bar showing up even if the day job location icon shows up every time I log off.

I guess this is well known(?) but what I wonder is, what base portals actually (currently) work for this day job badge villain side?

    MA forum?

I just hope people put their guides in the regular guide section, so they don't get mixed up with the "play my arc" threads.

Ultimately I think we've finally found a really good use for the useless in-game email system with the MA feedback system. Now, if we could just post stuff to ourselves, like recipes, I could terminate one of my accounts. Yeah, do that so you can earn a bit less money NC!

    Bored Phase

Only reason I keep returning is because the game has reached a phase where it's very polished in the really important parts, like chat tabs, team system etc. It's rather ugly, but it works so well compared to other games I've tried.

Yet there's still bugged hostages, MM bots getting stuck all the time, sync bugs etc, not to mention the ever-lasting non-firing rooting nemesis staff (and some other powers).

I've found that I'm amazed when I go play some "regular" games, how good they are, well polished extremely good looking and fun, but I end up thinking they're not giving me anything since I play solo, no achievements, no bragging rights, no purples. So I tend to go back to CoX a bit too early because even if it's boring it's sort of rewarding.

The thing is to find a few other games you really like, and really take a break for one or two weeks. I've found that other MMOs doesn't work because 1. they're meeeeeeh and 2. utlimately they're sort of the same thing. (So my 2 poor Lotro alts are still lvl 20, rofl, and I really like that game, sort of)

I was a bit annoyed we're not getting actual new content in I14, but ended up trying a few arcs in MA. Ok, same dead boring maps, but everyone's rushing to make new minions, liuts etc and fighting new foes (with same old powers) seems to be the biggest thing ever happened in the game. Every mob/mission might turn out to be a bit of a surprise. Sure it'll get old very fast, but with the 5-y anniversary coming up fast, I'm guessing we'll see... ...something.

...but ultimately... The game is 5 years old (almost) and many of us have been playing it for ages, without anything really special happening to the game (would probably make us hate it). That means we'll consider the game an old friend, something comfortable, sticking around for our in-game friends ultimately, not for the game itself. Some stick around because they've invested so much time/inf they can't let go, but we're all bound to be rather bored because we know pretty much everything just a bit too well.

The question is, what could they do to re-ignite the game? New graphics engine? I'd love it, but that would take a lot of effort redesigning all zones. New zones? Rather pointless. New SFs? Yeah, villains need it, but they'd grow ooold very fast. New ATs? Two weeks and they're lvl 50 and old news. New badges? Was already ruined with the stupid invention badges imho. New emotes? Needed, but won't do anything for the game really. Animated hair? Let's not get into it.

    ...d000m, basically!

    EoE farms

Will try to join (was quite fun once I got over the boredom of the looong stretches of no-drops), but was at my doctor today, since I was half-dead this morning...
...Let's just say I'm on some rather heavy stuff for at least a week. Haven't even logged in today, which - in my case - is a serious sign!
  5. That's because the good ones are full, and the rest, you know!

Serously, defiant villains is a small world, everyone knows everyone. Shouldn't be hard finding a good VG if you keep joining stuff and proove yourself. Oh, only problem being you pretty much need a lvl 50 for that.

Come to think of it, I'm not really helpful at all am I?
  6. Ohdear Notty.. Take care!
Was a lot of fun so far despite ear infection and other weird infections. Finally on some heavy antibiotics, so should be fine til sunday - I hope. Lucky we're not on Skype, because I've pretty much totally lost hearing on my right ear.

Good thing is, it's contageous, so I'm home from work all week, and free next week! Unfortunately I can't play all day anyway since I ssem to pass out a lot. Umm. That's not really a good thing after, is it?
  7. You could join our fire kin/rad/any team with a veat if you want to! It's a lot of fun and we're taking pretty much any fillers!
  8. Well, I'm on summer time at least, so logging on in a few minutes!
Mind you, there's gonna be an EoE farm later on, preparing for the 12 april Hamiraid, so we're looking at a fairly short session today.
  9. Oh, missed this one:
Gratz to Smurfnof...again... (yeah, getting repetitive)
...This time it's Faythe, the stalker that dinged 50!

Guess that's why all the smurfs been A-wall lately, while my malaria/plague/bird flu/curse (or just common cold) is slowly killing me (erhm, well, men and colds y'know)...
  10. Since you've clearly decided on a server, may I suggest you move the discussion?

    Multiboxing

Oh my... Running 2 MMs is already getting annoying for me on most maps, admittedly I really want both MMs so there's little synergy between them.

I must admit, I still do find joy in playing with myself, and think most boys would!

...and people will be back next week when I14 goes live.. Sure, they'll just hang out at that game center, erhm, entertainment lab, but they'll be back at least, for a few days before boredom hits hard again. Personally I'll be back running ITFs once my health's back up to green but I seem to be debuffed by some sneaky rad. Still coughing greenish slime every 2nd breath.

If you want some fun, I'd suggest going for a good brute, and sticking some buffer on second so you get to actually play the game, not just run around maps waiting for pets to do what the do best. Now, go play with yourself!
  12. ...ergo the smiley, but ty for the extra effort!
Love those easter eggs, esp at this time of the year.
  13. ..but who's Charlie Newland, really? And what does he want with Spaulding?

    Multiboxing

Defiant's always nice, but yeah, having 5 fire/rads obviously running on follow will aggro some people, usually the same that despise farming etc and will arouse suspicions that you're probably selling you're services for real money.

Actually... 5 accounts? Anyone with 3 or more will make me suspicious. I do have 2 accounts myself since it makes things easier (transfering inf, inventions etc) and it's quite fun playing with myself (interpret that anyway you want)

Yes... I do enjoy playing with myself!
  15. If you go rad, we deffo need the AM and heal. It'd be nice with a rez'er in the team since kin's don't rez. For the rest, cram in the debuffs you can once you've got leadership up and running (on the team build at least).

I really think the game benefits from the optional 2nd build once people do new alts and realize the really can have two very different builds for solo/team, even if I personally usually stick to one build (team build).

Logged on to my fire/kin and realized it's actually lvl 6 with mayhem ready to be executed!

..and still rediculously sick! Must be malaria or the plague!
  16. Well, this isn't a "proper" powerteam, so we can invite anyone at any time.

Repel is fun, but until you have stamina it's rather useless. I guess siphon power x 8 could do some useful stuff, but I'd rather suggest you go for primaries and leadership really. Corrs get a good boost out of the leadership pool too.

I did a quick build in mids and it's quite doable pushing all three leaderships in. I guess I can redo it and post it if people wants it. Was thinking about respeccing flight out when the kin superjump thingy is available to save another slot but Karma: Knockback is so lovely on any alt.
  17. We recently did this on Defiant and it's a lot of fun. I've tried it on onion as well, but the 24 man team fell apart at lvl 30'ish. We just couldn't keep that team together.

I learned something from both experiences:
    1. Pick team mates carefully as well as play times
    2. Use XP pact on all alts to keep the team together.

The second part may not be to your liking, but I'm absolutely certain that it was a key component for keeping the team together.

If you decide to do this on Defiant after all, we've got a SG just for fire rad/kins called Hot Feets. Gimme a call and we'll fix you all in. Would be nice to have a steady stream of folks for TFs etc.

We did set up a channel, also called hot feets, for fire rad/kin teaming, but noone else has joined, we haven't promoted it and we all kept together lvl 1-50 laughing our pants off.

I strongly recommend Skype or some other voice chat software since it makes it even more fun, fast and furious. ...and do not accept people not taking leadership!!!

    Dual Boxing

Pretty much any MMs work like a charm, esp non-clicky buffers like Force fields, storm, dark. Running 2 MMs at the moment that doesn't synergize well, but it's still a lot of fun, since they're XP-pacted to two dominators that I don't feel like playing on the lower levels.

Guessing that any buffer (on auto) should be nice. Used my Kin corr and a brute to speed up the mish'ing some time ago. One SB in the beginning usually lasted the mission since that brute is awesome. If not, I tp'd the kin, SB'd again and kept killing.

and btw: Macro/echo programs would be against the Eula!

    Perma-hasten?

Well, if you really want an alt with perma-hasten, having AM(rad) or siphon speed(kin) sure makes life easier.

Then again, there's plenty of dom's with perma-dom/hasten, so it's definitely not impossible, just rediculously expensive.
  20. After completing our lvl 1-50 fire/rad troller run (and then having a lot of fun with it), some of us wanna try out a specialized villain team as well.

We're thinking about fire/kin corrs and so far there's 5 of us. One or more fire/rad would be welcome as well.

Game time: Sundays and mondays 6 pm (19.00 CET).
First meeting in Port Oakes on sunday 29th.
I suggest you get your alt up to lvl 5 so we can go for the mayhem straight away.

Build: AoE heavy, preferred if you could do a team build with leadership pool. Once we get SB/Nuke it's gonna be rather silly.
  21. There are more players ready to join.
I'm pretty sure the whole Murders Inc. would pitch in as they've said before. Just ask for certain ATs and the spots will be filled. It's just that a lot of people are on a break from the repetitive, tedious grinds villain-side.
  22. Just one problem here...
We can be pretty sure I14 will be out before the hamiraid...

Now don't get me wrong, I couldn't care less, I'd much rather go on hami-raid, but...

    I14 extras?

Hey muddy, looking forward to see what you've created. Might make ME stick around for I15.

I'm just afraid we'll all hang around MA, running off for occational ITFs unless we get new powersets in I15. And by new, I mean totally new mind-numbingly amazing and fun, not just more 'proliferation' stuff.
  24. SingStar

    I14 extras?

Well, FYI, IMHO, this is getting silly and I'm officially hanging off Sing Stars badge cape. Still being in the EU villain lead I'm way too bored of the game as is, and I really can't get excited about the MA. Sure, I checked it out today, and there's some nice stuff there, definitely, but...

I sure hope they give us something special for I15/5-Y anniversary and I'll probably remain in-game anyway but instead of inspiring me, these (like the invention badges) are just putting me off the game even more.

The fact that they're feeding (poison to) the dead duck called "pvp" instead of focusing on the actual game is another nice nail in the coffin.

Good job setting up the forum though and nice seeing the open beta up'n'running. When do you release the map editor?

This moan was presented to you by the dance5 emote association and if you didn't enjoy it that's your sad little problem!

Oh God, I might actually have to go back to "regular" games, I'm actually getting rather good at guitar hero!
