The reason the game is in the cheap bin is the problem. It's not there because the game is old, it's there for the exact reasons Dark.Master pointed out.

WoW isn't a particularly new game, but all it's done over the past few years is grow, grow, and grow.

It really is a shame... the PvP in this game could have been completely revolutionary. The system had so much potential, but after years of neglect, and the final blow being i13, the game's PvP now lies face down in the dirt. It's not anything revolutionary or groundbreaking at all.

It would be. Doms are better than blasters, though. Therm/dom is probably the best way to go.

Parry is and always has been pretty useless. The defense is only to melee attacks, and it takes too long to activate for it to be worth it. It generally only disrupts your attack chain. Don't worry about defense on a regen, you already have enough survivability. I'd suggest Fire over BS - faster animations, more damage, no weapon draw time. It's your call in the end, though. Good luck with whatever you end up doing.

When I talk about good regens I don't mean regens with high recovery rates. Build is pretty irrelevent in this case. A good regen won't be wasting his end playing offensively while he is debuffed by a thermal. If that means running around or phasing to stall, then so be it.

Call it what you like, but a regen who doesn't know when to play evasive isn't a good regen - just like how an elec/therm who stood toe to toe with a scrapper wouldn't be considered very tactful. You have to adapt to the circumstances presented to you in the duel to be considered effective, and you should be aware of the resources at your disposal. Whether those resources be offensive or defensive, players shouldn't be afraid to use them to win.

If both players do everything in the best interests of their victory and the match still ends in a draw...then it's just that: a draw.

Not really. Hot Heals was my 2v2 partner from i12 - an amazing 2v2 Emp and Rad/psi... also the biggest griefer in coh. As for my manners, do understand that this is a joke-thread. I never intended it to be the spot for serious remarks regarding the morality of interupting fightclub duels, lol (I really am a nice person :O)




I suppose we will have to agree to disagree on our definitions of ultimatums. Debating them doesn't seem to be in any of our interests.

As for us wanting to empty zones: We don't. Maybe fightclubbing in the EU is truely a different spectacle. On the US servers, fightclubbers are often thought of as obnoxious and unfriendly players who fill up broadcast chat with hideous attempts at trash talk. These players are known to relentlessly harrass other players while asking them for duels. When the fightclubber is asked to go to an arena, he will generally dodge-out by saying things like "lol arean is 4 noubs just ppl who use inspir and run around". The stereotypical fightclubber would demand that a blaster stay in melee range with his brute, and never use powers like phase/hibernate/anything-that-will-result-in-the-brute-losing. The fightclubber will say GF after a win, but scorn his opponent for cheating when he loses.

Obviously, not all people who participate in fightclub duels are like this. After all, it only takes one guy saying "U NOUBS R 2 SCARE TO FIGHT ME 1v1 SO U NEED TO GANK WOW AND USE INSPIR" to make the others look bad. It's as they say though: One who lays down with dogs will rise up with fleas. There are some nice and intelligent people who participate in these duels - these generally aren't the avid fightclubbers who would get seriously offended if someone were to interupt their duels.

To the point: The serious fightclub crowd would not stop comming to PvP zones because their duels are being interupted. They need the e-glory to satisfy their own insecurity.

As for alienating a player who may be discouraged from participating in PvP because his duel was interupted: there is just as much potential that the player would stop PvPing because he was berated by a fightclubber for losing/winning/doing anything outside the fightclubber's made up set of rules.

The simplest point of the matter is this: If a fightclubber won't do his duels in the arena he can do them in a PvP zone at his own risk. If I go into a PvP zone I will attack whatever and whoever I can. Whether or not they are pretending to be dueling is irrelevent.

People who promote double standards are generally either ignorant or driven by special interests. Here we have a case of the "You must be looking for an argument, but I'm going to issue an ultimatum based on nothing but my impulsive lust for attention sprung from the rage I developed after reading your post" response. Once you've seen one of these, you've pretty much seen them all (wonderfully flawed logic backed by terrible grammar and spelling).

Hey, kid with the really long neck, you are a giraffe. Go back to the savannah and pretend that the spots on your hide actually function as camoflage (They don't, because you are 18 feet tall and stick out from your surroundings like some dumb forum poster with a really long neck).

A competant regen would know how to stall into a tie with an elec/therm.
No competent regen would stay still long enough for an MM to kill him.

These are both instances that generally end in a tie. If it is a zone duel the regen could probably beat the elec/therm.
