I don't know what's more laughable: People claiming that they had calculated grand schemes and singlehandedly killed RF2009, or people making private channels in self promoting acts of vainglorious supergrandeur and suggesting that RF2009 is any more or less dead or alive than it was two months ago.
I'm pretty confused here. Doesn't having several private channels completely make moot the point of having an RF-channel in the first place? Many people still seem to be using RF2009 and are completely indifferent to the alleged but most likely constructed and exaggerated "drama" that took place. -
Quote:Many moons ago there was something called the TpvpL on test server.o!
Edited to add: Ok...... who volunteers to be a Captain?
Yeah, that's what the league would be like (TPvPL = Test PvP league). It would be on freedom though. If we are going to further discuss it, we should do so in a different thread. This thread should be used for editing ladder rules/posting rosters/issuing challenges.
I'm fairly certain that the newly headed PvPec already has something like this in the works. -
Quote:Ideally, the draft and ladder would be separate events, as stated before. From what I understand, a certain number of drafted/pre-picked players would need to play in each individual match, ensuring that the drafts have the ability to play in matches.dUmb challenges whoever has a team for initial 1/2 rankings. Lets start this. Feel free to debate hypotheticals ad nauseam in the meantime.
I'm all for a supplemental draft, but frankly if you have 10 PvP players you know and 5 new players, who's going to start? Also, if I have 15-20 people I know/sort of know, I'd rather that be my roster.
Since we do need to take some initiative here, I'll get a roster up an accept your challenge if we can set up the final rule-set, regardless of how many teams are on the ladder. -
Getting participants will involve getting groups of people into PvP. There is word in the air of League (separate from the ladder) in the planning stages.
The league would allow people to enter themselves into a team PvP environment via drafting pool. This way people could enter without actually needing to have a team of 8 ready to go. Hopefully, such an event would increase external interests in a ladder. I'm not a fan of draft picks, but if a draft-league gets going it would be good for the stagnant but ambitious PvP community that exists now.
I'm personally against running ladder officials, or even announcing that a ladder official exists until there is strong internal support for it. That said, I'd be glad to schedule unofficial pick-up matches with anyone who has a team of 8. -
I'm pretty sure RF79 was the only respectable channel anyway.
Now I know that at least 7 nimrods are going to have an urge to reply and be like "WHO ARE YOU I HAVE NEVER EVEN HEARD OF THAT CHANNEL LOLOLOL IM SO COOL.
If you were really that cool you'd have been in RF79... and you'd be wearing sunglasses. Get giraffed.
Oh, and is Sneaky Prophet in RF2010? If so, throw me an invite :< -
Sorry if this has already been said, but I don't know who has said what yet in this thread (probably because I didn't read it).
Either way.
If you make a regen. Don't take spines. Don't take fire mastery. Either make a fire/regen/body, or an elec/regen/body.
Weapon mastery is joke, don't consider it. Fire mastery is a joke, don't consider it. Spines is a joke, don't consider it. Spines/Regen hasn't been good for a long time. It was only good because toxic damage mattered, and you had 4 solid ranged attacks. Now toxic damage doesn't matter, your damage in general is terrible, and only 2 of your ranged attacks are worth anything.
If you are still bent on making a "ranged melee" toon: I suggest you roll a Fire/SS/earth tank.
Fossilize hits like a truck. KO blow has 15 foot range. You even have that one really bad attack where you throw a rock.
It's why SS has always been the ultimate downie melee set (KO blow has a 15 foot range and half of them complain about not being able to land melee attacks). But don't let that turn you away from it's newfound functionality.
IF you do roll an SS tank. Please, for the love of god, don't make your toon have capped height. If you make really tall SS tanks there is a 95% chance that you are really dumb. -

When it comes to AVs, I'd assume that the -res proc would be slightly more effective.
Either way, differences in procs in freezing rain would be marginal at best. It's not like taking out a mob of minions is hard at all, especially with even a semi-competent team. In the case of fighting an AV the target will ideally have its resistance debuffed to such a level that a 20% -res proc won't make a very notable difference... a few procs hitting for damage in the 70s wouldn't be too decisive either. -

Quote:Agreed. Given the new spawn rules, this shouldn't be too hard, though (everyone from a given team re-spawns at their entry point, rather than a random location).Quick follow up questions:
We need a definition of spawn camping if this is to be a rule. Our group has been known to camp people in hibernate, which may be viewed as spawn camping by other leaders watch the match.
The main issue is setting a determining standard for when a re-spawning target is fair game.
Ideas:
The re-spawning player is considered fair game once he moves from the re-spawn point. If the target uses any powers that affect other players (allied or enemy) he will be considered "in play" and fair game, regardless of whether or not the target has moved from the re-spawn point/is affectable. The player in question will be considered in play and fair game if he/she does not move from the spawn point within 10 seconds of dieing. Camping hibernate is not considered spawn camping and is a valid tactic.
The problem with making rules this specific is that we look like fightclubbers. Number one way to avoid spawn camping: DON'T BE BAD AND GET FARMED. -
Drop fighting for concealment. You will need phase for team PvP, and the fighting pool really doesn't help you at all. You should probably switch to the Ghost Widow epic, for the better res shield, and potentially power boost.
Slot your heals with at least one Range IO.
Make sure your travels are slotted well so you can get to people quickly in team matches to heal them.
I'm sure someone has a build that they can throw you for some more specific slotting/power choice advice. -

Quote:You can get by with it. It's nice having SJ though. I recently dropped incinerate for it on my fire/regen.How important is superjump on a fire/regen? Can I get by with just SS+CJ+2 slotted Hurdle?
Anticipating incomming damage: Yes. Just keep an eye on your buff bar and on what is happening around you. -
Bing. Not to mention, in a team match you will need to use your heals before your HP goes down at all, if the other team is even remotely competent.
-
Don't base use of your heals on your HP percentage. Base it on the situation. Sometimes you need to use DP at 3/4 hp. Sometimes you may be better off using it at much less than that. Tailor your play-style to the situation.

You won't kill a regen in a 1v1 unless he is really bad. Don't worry. It's your lucky day. 99.9% of regens who play this game are really bad.

Quote:The point is: SGs should be able to get 8 if I can grab 8 randoms from RV and get them to do an arena match when half of them don't know how to access arena terminals.lol getting 8 people from rv to fight your team is not the same as practices against sg's/vg's with people of any level of skill.
either way..not really here to argue. If you want to run a freedom pvp league set it up, post the rules and see if folks sign up. glhf ... all that.
p.s - having 8 on is not an indication that people will actually do an 8v8, when you get a team who knows they will lose and claim thier "good" 8 players are not on line (not going to meniton anyone in particular)....
If 8 can't happen we will have no choice but to do smaller matches. If smaller matches really are needed, then, by all means, the ladder will promote smaller matches.
What we need to do is contact people who can genuinely get SGs together. We should have at least 4-5 SGs ready to go before we start a ladder of any kind - or that ladder will be very short lived. -
Rofl. I almost got some SG to cyber with me once after convincing them that I was her (him).
