Quote:Raise your hand if you think its a load of crap that Defender SD still has the 120s recharge when Dom SD got nerfed to 240s ages ago and Corrs have been at 240s since forever.[...]
A large part of that is simply because defender soul drain is stronger and recharges twice as fast.

Both Saul Tigh and Adama are complete badasses.
I shall not hear a word against either.
Except maybe for Adamas unfortunate moustache he chose to rock for a while. -
Hah, awesome. I think passive aggressive roommate is one of those things everyone can relate to.
I think its a modern day rite of passage. It's a lot more difficult to go out and kill a bear or something to prove you're an adult, so now you have to live with a crazy person for a while instead. -
Quote:I got 22 seconds in (until they start "singing") before I had to close it, could you bottom-line it for me?

Heh, I was wondering when this would come given the removal of the rep screen.
It's true though, what he said about them being misused far more than used productively.
I guess all passive aggressive mutterings will remain just that, mutterings with no place to anonymously voice them :P -
Quote:Ahahaha, awesome. What's even funnier is that if the guy is gonna drop 1b for you to make him a build, he's almost certainly not going to be able to afford a 3b build with 3b because he's likely to pay through the nose to get everything RITE NAOWell I didn't think the guy would actually pay me to make the build. He said something like "I have 4 billion to invest, make me an awesome build" in his post. I replied with "Well, how about you give me one billion and I'll make you a three billion inf awesome build?"
Again, I didn't think he'd take me seriously. I was trying to say "Put some work into it, then I'll help." It'd be like a salesman putting a ludicrous price on an option that he doesn't actually want to sell. When the guy offered to pay up... well, I just couldn't turn it down.
This. If someone at least goes to the effort of putting a build together I'm happy to help. -
Anonymoose, Yeah, those are all really good set choices. TP Foe is a lot more useful for a MM though, since your pets will nuke the crap out of whatever you just pulled in.
Corrs can move a lot faster than MMs though, which is why I personally prefer skipping TP Foe. If need be I can just snipe/blast something to pull it back.
Eldman, I'm afraid I don't. My current build is actually out of date, since it was a softcap ranged build but used BotZ. I've been meaning to respec him (probably softcap s/l) but haven't had the time to yet. Once I do I'll post a build chunk.
Street_Wolf, Glad you like themWhat characters have you decided to make?
-
Unless it absolutely has to be one or the other, I'd make both
They're both incredibly powerful characters. Don't worry about the Fire/Kin doing lots of damage because of how busy Kin is, it just means you need to prioritize. For me on my Rad/Kin, that means I trim down my attacking to just my best attacks. On a Fire/Kin, this would be Blaze, Fireball and RoF.
It is true that Kin doesn't really provide much in the way of mitigation, but I disagree about the pools bit. With Scorpion Shield, Weave and moderate defense bonuses you can easily softcap the smashing/lethal defense of your character. This will give you absurd levels of survivability.
In terms of how loved they are on teams, everyone loves Kin. People know Dark is really good and a lot of people really like it, but it's just not as loved as Kin.
Honestly, I'd say it comes down to what you do more. If you team more, go /Kin. If you solo more, go /Dark.
Ideally, make both.
(shamless plug: I've got guides for /Kin and /Dark in my sig if you want to take a look) -
-
Because Scorpion Shield is fantastic.
Edit: nevermind haha, Macskull wins. Pretty silly of me tbh, since I've actually got a BotZ in AM on my Rad and a Steadfast -KB in ID on my Kin >.> -
I'll share my builds. The advantage of sharing builds is you can see how other people do things and learn from it.
If I share my builds some people can look at them and maybe find them useful. If I share my builds someone can say "hey, I see you did x but it would be better if you did y" and through feedback I can improve my builds. All builds can be improved so why not put it out there so you can get feedback on it?
Seems win/win to me.
Besides, player success is only part build, I'd say its mostly skill.
Edit: re: multi billion builds: I love people who brag about how much their build cost as an indicator of how good it is. It's like bragging that you fail at the market. -
on account of the abuse being so brutal, you see

Quote:It's no biggie, honestly. After hearin' some o' the problems people were havin' with get the Master of badge for Lady Grey due to the green Mitos, I really just wanted to bring somethin' that would give it a better shot.
Thanks for the offer, though. We'll see in the future. -
Well, if you want defense Combat Jumping is great because it provides defense, immob protection and great combat maneuverability (great for a kin)
Maneuvers (from the Leadership pool) is also good, but I'd stick with leaping. -
From playing with Provoke on my Fire/Traps you probably won't need both Provoke and Challenge. Provoke recharges fast as is (even moreso with Hasten/Adrenaline Boost) so you can spam it.
-
Well, it's a nice bonus but it only protects against holds. Sleeps and stuns will still knock you right out.
I've played with and without Acrobatics on several of my Corrs and I found it just wasn't worth it. There isn't really an enemy group which has a lot of holds which doesn't also have a lot of stuns and sleeps. So I'd be popping BFs anyway.
The immob protection it provides I can get from CJ, with some defense and combat maneuverability to boot. -
Yes, but adding yet another end crash into the mix will make matters worse.
Rage crash + Hasten crash + OwtS crash = poor blue bar
SS/SD being so end heavy is more a function of SS Footstomp being end heavy and having a power that crashes your end every so often without a way to regain it. /SD is actually very endurance efficient. /FA has Consume to help out. -
Looking at the build I've got a few pointers:
I'd put an end mod set in Short Circuit. Efficacy Adapters would be my recommendation. While it does do some decentish damage, its your most powerful AoE drainer so you want to maximise the drain on it. Fulcrum Shift will give you more than enough damage for it.
Take the Impeded Swiftness set out of Siphon Speed. It gives only decent acc and really bad recharge, whereas you want those two stats to be maxed on Siphon Speed. I'd take it down to 4 slots and put 2 acc 2 recharge in it.
You can also drop the 6th slot from Zapp, the toxic res really isn't worth it.
See if you can put a stealth IO in somewhere, ideally a sprint or Super Speed. The stealth will help immensely with getting into position for SC/FS safely.
You don't need the runspeeds in Speed Boost. It's fine with just the end mods. In big maps people can supplement the speed with their own travel powers.
If you put a Karma -KB IO in CJ you could drop Acrobatics. I don't really think you need the stealth pool either, since SS+Stealth proc is full invis and as a kin you'll be busy enough that you won't really have time to Grant Invis people. People can generally take care of stealth themselves.
Charged Armor is way overslotted. I'm not entirely sure what bonuses you were going for, since your defenses seem a little all over the place and you've not gone for Weave.
I'd keep Thunderous Blast. With Kin you can crank your damage way up and instantly refill your end bar. Definitely keep the nuke. -
Westin Phipps and nope, afraid not.
edit: you can look pretty much like that yourself though
-
Take Ice Bolt, skip Breath unless you really want it (which it doesn't seem like you do).
Ice Bolt is a crucial part of any Ice/ ST chain, Breath is a mediocre slow-animating cone. -
It doesn't.
Stick 2 acc and 2 recharge in it and call it done
