Lets admit it.
If the game was spewing out purples at 10x the normal rate this would have been hotfixed already.
And yes I saw many many players last night saying they werent doing missions because they had no inventory space left. -
-
-
The servers are kinda dead at the moment, because everyones inventory is clogged up.
This has been one of the worst launches of an issue yet. -
Someone called for doom and gloom...... Allrighty then!!!
Well Dual pistols is rather weak compared to Ar and Archery.
The markets had a complete breakdown and no ETA.
Posi has a secret plan to save the markets for going rogue but he doesnt know what it is yet.
MA is still inferior for rewards to almost any other method of leveling/earning inf/inf.
Thats about all I got at the moment
We are at a kinda very wait and see moment right now, we still dont have alot of the information on whats going to be happening. -
Servers have been almost grinding to a halt which is strange with a new issue, but no one can realistically missions since their personal storage is getting all clogged up since no one can sell.
Brilliant! -
I honestly expect nothing before the entirety of the playerbase switches to vigilante to happen.
Even if Incarnates are for hero/villain Im fairly sure that will be fore hero/villain and not for those who have never switched sides as the complaints from that would be epic in scale.
And honestly completly closing off the endgame for those who go middle seems a bit harsh. -
I dont know if I missed this, but has there been anything said about the very likely possibility that the entire playerbase will switch to vigilante because its the most advantageous. Having access to both contents and the hero side market is just too strong a benefit to ignore.
-
I will say I do agree, its actually because it is so good, that I actually get annoyed that its languishing in its current state.
If I didnt think it was worth it, I wouldnt make such a fuss. -
How I rate arcs is meaningless, the amount of arcs I do play are pretty insignificant, and they fact I take off stars for poor rewards is also meaningless. Unless you also believe other players do the same thing. Reward is a meaningful motivator for many players.
But lets forget about that for the moment.
Yes the ratings system is just one other thing thats broken. The search is broken. THe reward system both punnishes writers and lavishes rewards on farmers.
Im not saying AE is bad, it just needs work, and the devs seem to be showing no interest in it. -
Exactly, rewards are an important criteria for me, and yes the author does have control they can choose not to use custom mobs.
Now I do also blame the devs for not giving us the tools to filter out reduced reward missions.
Just for your information standard mobs give standard experience, so choosing to use custom mobs is the authors choice. -
Well strongest all around probably goes to controller, but they take a bit of time to develop, okie maybe more than a bit of time, probably like mid 30's. I dont recomend them for a new player.
For something easy to level, Brute or Dominator.
Avoid Stalkers, they are playing a different game than every other AT. -
There is no set standard for how to judge stories, and low rewards is a valid reason to knock score. Just because you dont value rewards doesnt mean the same applies to everyone.
Yes, if there was a reduced reward filter, I would stop knocking arcs for low rewards because I wouldnt see them.
But as of now, there is NO way for me or any other player to distinguish between a high reward with custom groups made up of dev mobs and low reward custom group with custom mobs. Besides the fact they show up in one big search mosh.
And to the other point yes its a failure not because of how many people play it, but of how many people play compared to the 9 or so months of dev time it took to get this thing out the door.
PS. Yes I somewhat do the low scoring on purpose, I figure if I can get a few other reward minded people to do the same. All the people who write arcs will complain that they are getting score reductions and the devs will have twice as many people complaining for a fix of custom mobs or at least a filter. -
Custom mobs are almost always going to get mediocre ratings in the current enviroment.

Quote:Standard mob missions are almost as good as news missions, and tickets do seem slightly better than normal drops.Ive been enjoying AE before and after the changes. I know people rant about XP..but many of my lowbie characters seem to level up faster in AE (solo) than it seems they do on story arcs. Maybe its the time I save running from mission door-to-contact-to-mission door.
Also, the tickets are nice. I can buy enhancements, roll for recipes, and get rare salvage with them. Whats to complain about?
Whats to complain about is custom mobs, they are both much harder and have cut experiance. -
Also news missions, though they are shorter and give less reward per mission they give more over time due to not having to find those hidden doors hidden in perez park, and not having to switch zones.
Its not whining, if players never speak up, things never get changed, 75% for custom mobs is a stupid and unneeded change that needs to be fixed, if they intend MA to be used for anything other than farming. -
It is a contradiction but that doesnt mean its not true.
You can both not put a dent in farming and still give poor rewards.
Standard mobs still give the same reward they always did, and there are some stupidly weak standard mobs that are good for farming. But Ill just use council for this example, Council come in large packs, pack tightly together and are generally just good for farming.
But give me more than one good reason why custom mobs have to be both much harder and worth 75% of the experiance of council.
This creates a situation where if you write an interesting story with your own mobs, your rewards are going in the toilet, but if you write a boring one with council packed in a map like sardines, the rewards are great.
And yes it is getting more popular, as people are discovering farming maps still exist as much as they ever did.
They have done even better than Ive thought, they created a situation that rewards farmers and punnishes Rp'ers and story tellers. -
Im going to change my view on this a little
After being told some things, Im going to say, thte only thing AE is good for now is farming. Ive now seen some farming arcs as bad as they ever have been.
But if we view Radio/News as the standard for which other content should be judged by. And Im not saying its right or wrong, just in my experiance, the most common method of leveling for pugs in news/radio.
If you write a story arc, chances are your rewards are going to fall under this bar, if you use custom mobs, way under this bar.
So exactly what are the devs trying to accomplish at this point. They havent put much of a dent in farming arcs, and now the general populace is unhappy with AE.
So what to do, fix custom mobs, find a way to make it more balanced all for customs. And yes I still do think it is fair to ding an arc 2 stars for using custom mobs.
One more point after more research Im also coming to the opinion tickets might be slightly better as a reward over random drops unless you are level 50 in which case they are markedly inferior. I honestly cant find any good reason a level 50 should ever do AE, for the most part the devs choice and guest, and players choice that do have the ability to drop purples are very poor rewards compared to even news/radio and this doesnt even account for farming maps.
Im starting to think it might be a deeper problem than just AE stinks. -
Ive never ever ever gotten annoyed at a blaster for using power thrust or a similiar power to keep themselves alive.
But an energy(primary) blaster who chucks mobs everywhere because all their primary powers do knockback are heading bootsville. -
Making your own team is fine if you are on a large server.
On a smaller server this is unlikely at best.
And Im going to dare to say, more people probably dislike knockback than like it. -
See this is my point.
A powerset with no knockback can be on a team with pro and anti knockbackers and it will run smoothly.
A poweset with much knockback can only be on a team with pro and nuetral, not antiknockback.
This is why no knockback is inherently better.. it has nothing to do with the benefits or penalties of knockback
Just the way it works inside the game. -
Quote:Yes, this is true, but ive never seen a case where only one person on a team is annoyed when mobs are being knockbacked. So, to not Frustrate a Brute by making it so he doesn't have to give up his Mitigation and some Attack Effectiveness, A KBer must give up his Mitigation (no KB) and Attack Effectiveness (by not being allowed to use half his attacks)...
Just making sure we're clear on this.
And yes if its 3 people who say stop knocking back to 1 person who is knocking back then the 1 person knockbacking must stop or get booted. -
Its kinda a problem then that ice is in general more damaging than energy.
Yes Energy by the numbers should outdamage ice, but because of the way it works, Ice is more versatile, has more synergy in itself and with other sets.
Ice can stack its aoe's on top of each other, not only not bouncing the mobs around but slowing them down or even making them slip making it easier for anyone else to take advantage of the situation. -
THe real pervisity of this is, the one time where knockback would be an incredible advantage against Av's, the Av's have way to much protection for it to ever work almost all the time.
-
Quote:This isnt 100% trueOnly the idiots who think those are the "knockback sets", with little knowledge of how much the effect is built into the game engine and therefore mostly unavoidable.
Same folks who aren't smart enough to use the search button. Why would I listen to an idiot? We don't need this same argument several times a month just because folks are too lazy to use the tools they are given, both in game and out of game. Lazy and stupid people should not ever be followed by those capable enough to realize that they are indeed stupid and lazy.
The idea that you don't have problems by getting rid of knockback is just stupid. Every set you take will generate the possibility of problems because players are stupid, lazy, and generally uncooperative with their fellow man. Everyone is too damn greedy to work together. This game's current problems are all products of lazy, stupid, and greedy players.
You are making it out like every set is equally difficult to play. This is clearly not the case.
And I never said those sets were impossible to play well, just that the 1 in 10 chance that it will be played well as compared to the about 1 in 2 chance "normal" powersets will be played well mean its easier to just leave them off the team.
And my point is, if you make a fire blaster you will never ever hear the stop knocking mobs back argument, because you have no knockback, if you make an AR blaster you might occasionally hear it and might want to stop using m30, if you make an energy blaster you are very likely to hear it and might get kicked or wind up not being able to use most if your primary for fear of being booted.
This is why sets with little to no knockback are inherently superior, they never have the problem in the first place.
Knockback is a penalty, not an advantage, this is why the devs went nuts when people found they prevent knockback on bonfire while fighting +4 mobs.
This would mean that Energy would have to be that much superior to other blaster sets to be worth that penalty, it isnt.
