I want the metal thorns that Silver Mantis has. We already have her graphics right?
[/ QUOTE ]
Not a matter of having the graphics, it's that currently 1 power=1 animation. So, even though Thorns has lots of overlap with Spines, internally in the game, the powers are different. there's no mechanism (currently) to have a power "pick" between multiple graphics.
Would be nice, certainly...and newer game engines would be expected to build this in.
I'm sure they'd like to do it just as much as we'd like to see it! -
(my Electric Armor is Dark Melee, and a brute...so take that into account...I have a heal)
Electric armor is very entertaining, and it has a few different ways to get things done. As a brute, it does have a bit of a feast-or-famine sort of feel when "tanking". Some enemies (Rikti) will find it basically impossible to do anything at all to even mildly inconvenience you. Some things (used to be Longbow Nullifiers, but they've since been nerfed) are just rock to your scissors. Anything with big auto-hit (ish) resist debuffs are awful. Arachnoids are awful because of their high Toxic damage.
Not having a heal, or any +regen, or any defense in your secondary makes you a bit of a 1-trick pony. Dark Melee made up for alot of that for me, so it's hard to say where DM stops and ELA begins.
I had more fun getting this character to 50 than I have with most of the others. -
I don't want to be the bringer of bad news, but: this, I believe falls under the heading of "power customization" and the way the system currently works is that 1 power = 1 effect. This is different than, say, a costume piece like Shields, guns or swords. More akin technically to all of the effects from Blast powers. I believe the long-time stumbling block is that there isn't a mechanism for setting multiple appearances for a single power's animated graphic. THere's have to literally be separate powers (targetting drone 1, TD 2, TD 3) for there to be different graphics for it.
That is, until they find a way to shoehorn a new mechanic into their system. -

Compared to the other resist damage powers found in the rest of the epic pools, Body Armor seems to be slightly inferior. The only advantage I see is that it's always in effect and can never be deactivated.
[/ QUOTE ]
...I am probably not representative of the majority, but this is really the thing that makes it superior to all of the others. The times when you most need the resistance are the times when you've been incapacitated by a status effect. During those times, the the other epic pools' toggles provide no benefit, when they would be the most valuable. I'd rather have a def/res toggle that was *only* on when I was under a status effect versus the other way around. -
Love: Body Armor, freeze ray (PEW!)
Like: LRM, Sleep Grenade.
No experience with Surveillence, but looks like it should be pretty good.
Skipping one is hard. That is why I haven't respecced since Surveillence was added. Dunno what to get rid of. -

Sheesh it's not like I said Shields was as lame as Spines Scrappers.

What?!?! You son of a...
I really enjoy my SD/DM Tanker...but i think that particular combo definitely makes SD seem a little tougher than it might otherwise be. As some folks have said on the brute forums "DM is like a defense set that pretends to be an offense set". I'd definitely say that Invulnerability is more resilient out-of-the-box (or with normal enhancments) than Shields. That in no way indicates that I prefer Invulnerability (which I don't) but that's not relevant to the discussion. -

Yes. The only sets that cannot be used with Shields are those with a 'weapon' in or on the left hand. For practical purposes this would be Dual Blades, Katana, Claws, & Spines.
Sets like Super Strength, Martial Arts, Energy Melee, Dark melee, etc have alternative animations that range from being as simple as adjusting the left arm to completely re-animating the power. Stone Melee's Stone Mallet powers use some of the one handed animations of Battle Axe and War Mace.

What about Shadow Maul? That uses both hands.
[/ QUOTE ]
Shadow maul doesn't have "a weapon in or on the left hand", so I assume it falls under the "have alternative animations that range from being as simple as adjusting the left arm to completely re-animating the power" clause. -

In hindsight, I spent it trying to play my 3 "in play" alts on Virtue, and spent most of the weekend getting dropped during zones ins, having my team wipe under heavy server lag, and watching my mates drop right and left.
It was "Double D/C weekend" - If I'd had any alts currently in play on a smaller server, I guess I would have had a positive experience. Unfortunately, I had the misfortune to roll on Virtue at release and I keep developing mains there.
I gave up Sunday morning - it wasn't worth the hassle. Here's hoping that the next double xp weekend will occur on hardware able to handle it, so those of us on big servers don't get shafted.

Wow, i find that really surprising, as I was on Virtue prime-time friday, saturday and sunday...as well as smattering during the day on Saturday and Sunday, for probably 8 hours total. No disconnects, no slow zoning, and i think I had maybe 2 teammates d/c the entire time. From my perspective, the server was crowded, but stable. It's not like I was hiding in underutilized areas either, I was running a RWZ mission team all friday night (actual missions, not the ouro thing) for a few hours and the whole team was fine, connection-wise. -
while they're at it, could they throw a button on the badge window (or an inline command) that will write a text file (like charname_badges.txt) to the coh directory listing all the character's badges? That would be nice
