  1. well, the idea of searching first is so you can read the replies and get a general idea of what is and isn't. do not respond in the old threads, just post a link to it in a new thread and say what you need to.
  2. without trying to sound snarky, there is a word up on top of the forums in between new posts and quick links. try it out and see what it brings up.

Even if people just remain ignorant and lazy, the influence is still draining out of the system to some degree and supply is improving.
actually , it won't go to the lowballers, it will go to the highball bids. while removing some of the infl/inf, how do you decide what to seed? and you do realize that with the infl/inf earnigs of a 50, whatever was removed will be back almost 10 fold with in a week? so it does nothing. hence why your idea won't work.

now, before you start going all Evil_Legacy on us, think about what smurphy and i have said.

A straight reduction in influence earned will probably hurt casual gamers more since their limited time is now worth less in possible inf gain, meanwhile farmers will just adapt.

A straight increase in drop rates doesn't remove influence as much as my idea would because even if all of the extra drops were sold on market, that would only be 10% taken away in fees.
your idea still would not work. all it is going to do is give the people with multiple bids more stuff to sell. this will not do what you think. plain and simple. i am all for infl/inf sinks, but this is NOT the way to do it.

^^this. they need to put back in the bug that prevented 50's from earning double the infl/inf when exempt.
  6. i have a feeling the amount of infl/inf that it would remove would be negligable. the market is not the place to deal with earnings/drops. it doesn't create infl/inf or drops.

because the few people are taking a break, its not that healthy. A reasonable person might even call it dead.
i don't see anything in that thread that leads to believe that the server is dead. all it shows is that the leaders were going to deal with RL and wouldn't be around to lead.

    Old salvage?

Would this mean that they are particularly rare?

Then I came across this baby:

My first thought was that someone used this salvage for an old school Influence transfer. However, we were given the ability to email attachments and Influence to ourselves 2 months prior to this transaction date and that's a lot of outstanding bids to risk such an maneuver. Was this a massive fat finger fumble? But the particular amount 1,400,000,005 argues against it.
i'd wager that the person was trying to put 1,400,005 and either the system hiccuped or he miss counted zeros.

Iv been on the Hero side of things alot due to a Biast of Villians, but now with the approuch of GR, its been easier to look at Villians because of the diffrence in some power sets I can get Hero side.

Now Im starting to re-roll my Defenders into Corruptors. My Scrappers in Stalkers.I even Plan on making my Controllers into Dominators.

Ill be keeping a few builds like my FA/FM and SD/Axe Tanker and a Energy/MM Blaster.Other then that, theres almost nothing a Hero can do that a Villian cant do better.

Iv listened to people in PvP zones tell a Hero thats getting completly destroyed by 1 or more people and stated that Villians where too strong get replies along the lines of "NU-UH!Heroes are stronger!"

Which doesnt seem to be true...At all..

Except maybe in the case of maybe a Blaster or 2.

Then again, a Dominator "Claims" that a Blaster will still beat them, even if they are Perma-Dom'd and holding that Blaster for 8 seconds because that Blaster can still fire while Mez'd.

Not once have I seen a Blaster beat a Dominator in PvP without ganking it or getting the surprise drop on it to get the first few licks in.

Blasters have to BU+Aim the majority of the time, and if they are the highly talked about Psi/EM Blaster (which iv still never seen by the way), they still have to hit there Increased Range power up.Meaning thats even more time for that Dominator who is like a Juiced up Blaster without BUs get the first hits.Mezing the Blaster and ripping it into shreads before that Mez'd Blaster can even target the Dominator.

Then I come to the forums and see a whole diffrent side of things.People swearing up and down that such and such build owns in PvP, and then they post up a Mid's build of a Character they are just as likly to never make.(Hence why I dont see these mysterious and elusive Psi/EM builds running around in PvP).

Its a diffrent ball game in game vs the forums entirly.

Villians seem to have the edge over heroes in a massive way, and to me, going from Heroes to Villians because I can switch there sides is like taking the training wheel off of a bike.

Im not sure how everyone else here ont he forums feels, but forum goers are prolly not even 10% of the games population, maybe less.

Im curious if anyone here on the forums plays the game more then hey do sit on these forums playing with builds they may or may not ever use.
i don't think you are playing the same game we are. that, or you just don't know your power sets very well. and just because some of us have a high post count does not mean we do not play the game more then we are on the forums. most of us post on the forums from work when we have a chance or spend time both in game and on the forums at the same time. if i were you, i would work on getting your foot out of your mouth.

My veteran characters have several hundred million influence and infamy, and seem dirt poor. I can't play 10 hours a day to get the influ and merits I would need to build the character I would like, and I do not wish to be part of the problem, by purchasing influ from the web sites that sell "in game money" for real money. It appears to me the inevitable outcome is that one day I will log in, and everything in the market will cost the max (2 billion?). Is there any way to stop it? Please help. (fyi..I love the game that is why I feel so strongly about this)
first off, you are using the markets wrong. they are not stores. they are auction houses. which means place a bid you feel is what you would pay and wait. while waiting, you can go and do some missions or something and SELL the drops you don't want or can't use at the markets. this is the part where you make tons of infl/inf. and ther are very, very, very few items that sell for more then the infl/inf cap. they are PvP io's. no casual gamer should be worried about those at all.
  14. while interesting, the current market UI is not working as intended really and adding more to it would only make it worse. let's wait and see if they can get this UI figured out and working properly before making any other changes to it.
  15. guys, you definately need to go read the last few pages of that thread. i just had a nice little discussion with one of the people behind those ideas.

  18. [quote]Blaster with /devices for cloaking device (and possibly also concealment power pool)[/quote

this will not work the way you think. cloaking device will not work with any other stealth powers. it will work with a stealth io and the stealth you get from super speed though.

Also, since those drivers all share the same characteristics on the dates I'd suspect it's not a US version of XP 64-bit or they have the date set to a format other than MM/DD/YYYY. That is common in non-US installations and apparently not something that Zloth was able to account for in CoH Helper. Since they stated it's the latest Catalyst driver they could find for XP 64-bit, I'll tend to take their word for that.
ah. that i did not know about 64 bit xp. thanks for clearing that up.
  20. definately try to update your sound drivers. try verifying files and do a defrag and disc clean up.
  21. you MUST update to service pack 3. also, your video drivers and sound drivers appear to be corrupt. you are going to want to update those.

ever heard of the old saying, 1 person is equal to 10. that is called word of mouth. all it takes is 1 person and at least 10 more will hear about it. i have seen this in action and it works. they have also given interviews in both game magazines and online. that is another form of "advertising".

well, i thought that would help get more creative juices flowing. here's one i haven't seen mentioned, assualt rifle/ice manip. that might give the challenge you want. if you don't have one yet that is.
  24. did you even read the post that was quoted by both forbin and i from Black Pebble? this is what they are doing now. it is not our decision what the devs or NC does for advertising. i think you need to step down from your self made pillar for a minuet, or a while, and relax.
