Will all the travel pools be this way? Like can I take Fly, Super Speed, Super Jump, Teleport all on one toon and not take the previous power or is this a one time thing for one pool?

[/ QUOTE ]not sure, but the general wording "this badge unlocks the following pools" vurses"this badge unlocks one of the following pools" seems to indicate that you can jump into each of the pools. Yeah, im kind of surprised here, this is pretty balance altering, rian just got a very kind slot free-up, so cant wait for june to get mine.

[/ QUOTE ]I dont see how its unbalancing considering we can buy fly on villainside at lvl 1 or buy fly with real money at lvl 1 both sides. I figured this would come but not as a vet reward or this soon.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's balance altering for those getting power pool travel powers (that is, the slottable, free ones that 98% of us use). Supposing they mean people don't have to take a pre-req that is a pretty huge change (esp. for pre-20 and exemp builds).

If getting travel powers pre-20 were a non-issue then people wouldn't be all hot-under-the-collar for this as they are presently.

Still, I am guessing that this announce is saying (despite its wording) that flight, "superleap", etc. are available as early as 8 with a prereq ... that just seems more sensible of a change to me.
  2. I am confused. Is it simply that we can get access to a higher tier before the usual level reqs (ie. 14) but we still need the prerequisite powers? Or is the one power prerequisite (hover, air sup) for flight no longer needed after 60 vet?

    : opinor :

I feel like 57 is just boring. No one who has played for 57 months can't afford tailoring fees. 60 seems to have questionable balancing issues depending on where things turn out.

Additionally, I feel like every major announcement lately needs immediate clarification on this, that, and the other thing.
  3. I am curious. Are these official advertisements or just play ones?

[edit: I just hope they get permission for stuff like this.]
  4. I thought screenshots show inf being spread over level pact as well. Might want to take that into account when pricing if that is the case (i dunno how SG mode would affect it)

    LH,

Seems that the purchasable "Mac Version" is simply another Game Edition (like GvE or the Game Card or the Collector's Edition). So, can a PC user just simply purchase this edition, add the code to their current account and enjoy the free month and in-game goodies?

    [/ QUOTE ]

That is what I am thinking also. Confirmation would be nice, but we will hear eventually I imagine.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
I'm surprised the new costume piece wasn't an Apple chest logo.

no, seriously. If you think I'm joking, you haven't met any Mac people.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Better reserve "Crabapple" name for veat.
  7. It's funny that this might not only bring in new CoH players who are Mac uses but new Mac uses who are CoH players. Maybe NCNC should try to arrange a discount on new Macs for existing coh players. Like an education discount ... but not.

Won't run on the MacMini, since it has Intel GMA 950 graphics.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Most MacBooks, other than the ones from late 2007 and after, also use Intel GMA 950.

    [/ QUOTE ]
The GMA 950 isn't officially supported by the Transgaming software. That doesn't mean it won't run, though - quite the opposite, in fact.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It doesn't say that it is not supported, it says it won't run. So I am unsure. I know people can run it on a 950 when booted in windows, but maybe something about the mac version, or how the game runs in Mac OS, isn't compatible with it.
  9. As an aside:

    [ QUOTE ]
"O Theos mou! Echo ten labrida en te mou kephale!"

    [/ QUOTE ]

Umm... I just googled this. That is some wicked bad Ancient Greek. Try:

"O eme Thee, esti en eme kephele pelekys"

(or labrys instead of pelekys, the latter doesn't strike me as common though ... i would have put a "by zeus" at the front instead, but that would take some time to look up.)
  10. Well, furries are already well accommodated. I don't see how whips and chains weapon set could hurt.
  11. [ QUOTE ]

Until the system is gold, I don't need to "Cope". It's an open discussion, and valid points are made reguarly.

I still think my idea is best: Make "Day Jobs" a single badge like the Patron badge redside, with each "earning" as a title adjustment. My big post that explains it is up above somewhere.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Interesting thought, but what do they do with accolades? Make the temp powers untied to badges (and if so, how does a player keep track of what s/he needs to earn them)? Or did you have another suggestion?
  12. [ QUOTE ]

But, if they've got a driven NEED to do that for ALL their toons, they're not exactly casual, are they?

    Good math, but bad point.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Grant me my point for the semi-casual player at least then?

    3-day-a-week-ers with 7 50s like myself.
  13. Another thing I want to mention, in case it hasn't come up already. Lowering the badge amount to 5 days would actually make the system somewhat inconvenient to a casual play with a lot of characters.

This means that the casual player has to log onto each character (easily 12 or so characters) more than once a week (6 times a month) and rearrange their characters (to take maximum advantage of the system). For 12 characters, logging in and out, traveling around, etc. you are easily looking at a half hour of time.

3 hours a month of swapping characters around to take advantage of an offline system seems somewhat ludicrous.

Feel free to debate my numbers, most of them were at random, but I think that they are a safe estimate.
  14. There are few people making a lot of noise. Everyone I know thinks the system looks great. You can't have everything right away. You have to make choices of what to get first. I prefer the proposed system, different characters will take different paths. I don't mind my characters not having everything; having everything means I don't need make a real choice, and my character is a step closer to being like everyone else, not farther away.

As far as badges are concerned I am going to make an unpopular comparison. To me, it's like being upset that they aren't giving out the 6 year anniversary badge this year. "Why make us wait!?! It will come out eventually!"

The fact is, it's a system everyone will be in, badger A and badger B will still be getting these badges at the same pace, more or less. Even if it's your most played character I certainly hope that character spends more time offline than on.
  15. What happens to enhancements in these cases? Do they remain but not function or do they evaporate?

    Issue 13 Update

    What a strange post.
  17. I actually wonder if the self-destruction power will be more useful as an easy way to get Vengeance going.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
If you play a tank, it's trivially easy to go into a large group, pop a red or two and maybe a yellow, and dole out a sweet purchased Nova to your enemies, probably defeating most of them, and making it really easy for the rest of the team to mop up.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I assume that it is unbuffable like the veteran inherent powers. Can anyone confirm?
  19. [ QUOTE ]
But they've been going strong for the past 4 year and now with a monetary system in place, I still see no reason why they need to change or do these things.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It has been made apparent that since around issue 8 (until around issue i12 or perhaps more accurately the upcoming i13) or so they have not been "going strong". The live team was brought down to a number of around 15 persons. All things considered they produced some important and impressive features during that time but look, if in no other places, to all of the bug fixes (chain lightning, oil slick arrow, MoG change etc.) which have occurred since NCNC was formed ... ones which should have happened long ago. They have already stated that such things had to be sacrificed for content/feature addition. Likely, this was in order to keep up with the demand for content form the subscription base and to maintain visibility with non-subscribers.

    [ QUOTE ]
I;d be just as happy to shell out 10 dollars for each issue they brought out if they included these boosters with them.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I will just have to believe you. I think the majority would disagree.

    [ QUOTE ]
What I do not like is how all these little things they come out with are just 10 dollar candies you can buy just to sugarcoat the game.
They get money off of monthly subscription fees.
They make money off character transfers.
They make money off additional character slots.
They make money off ad endorsments now.
They make money off a wedding pack.
Now they make money off a Cyborg Pack.
Need I go on? They're not in bad shape.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Most of these were implemented very recently, likely for the reasons I gave in my post 5 posts above your own. Bad shape? Maybe not, but the game was perceptively understaffed at one point, and the game has perceptively improved since NCNC formed.
  20. I think that changes like pay content/services and ingame advertsiing are based upon one simple matter. CoH is no longer a young mmorpg and has to be able to function with a consistent userbase which probably doesn't support a live development staff large enough to create high quality issues.

Having extra sources of income (or, more accurately, extracting more money out of their present population) allows them to add more staff and therefore more content to the game. Without a sufficient flow of content, players begin to drop off and you also can't get new/returning players at a good rate. Slowly the game dies.

We choose if the content is worth it, or if we are comfortable paying for extra content at all. In a sense then, it is the people who can more afford to support the game who do so (but with the side effect that they get more content than those who do not pay more). In my case, I spend enough time on CoH in a given month to thoroughly justify spending extra money on the experience above and beyond my monthly fee. Still, though I have considered purchasing the Wedding Pack, the content has never felt right to me ('xcept maybe the bow-ties). Maybe some day.
  21. Follow-up from my post here: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showflat....;gonew=1#UNREAD

Will there be more Latin in issue 12, like there is in screenshot 8, and if so who is writing it?
  22. I would love to see these calendars updated regularly as well as included in our splash screens. that is all.
  23. Multiple people write a single comic series and often muddle with eachothers' visions. It's part of the genre. To do that is canon.
  24. Hmm ... map? Steel canyon instance. enemies? behemoths. hmmm... objective? kill all.

Aw crap ... they already have one of those.
