Oh lord, I remember the first time I tried Hemingway. I couldn't finish... instead I wanted to drill a hole in my head to get the bland out.

Yeah, a lot of those bizarre "unnecessary" adjectives actually are very much necessary. As Aggelakis states, "a grotto" just doesn't set the same mood as "a twilit grotto." The latter implies strange shadows, the former does not. The words he used were supposed to imply the unusual and unnatural formations and features and beasts that his characters encountered... something truly alien to our mundane comprehension. Thus the reason why his protagonists always wound up insane in the end.

Quote:Unless in people in eastern Europe kiss with their teeth clenched, I must state that it's just you. It's not the position of their hands, it's the position of their faces that does it for me. While he may be scowling, you can see the Statesman look longingly into the robot's cold eyes, while it's expressionless face appears to be lost in the hero's gaze.
I don't know, maybe that's just me. But consider what people's head do right before they kiss, at least in the big "fireworks and applause" end of a romantic comedy. -
Quote:No.The Kingpin was the only good thing about Daredevil, oh and Joe Pantoliano being in it... I kinda like him... well, I guess Ben was okay... not good, but okay (in fact, he only rates okay because he likes the comic and is attractive).
Not even.
Fortunately Stan Lee's cameo was somewhere within the first 10 to 15 minutes of that abortion, so you can stop watching right there. -
Quote:Heh. Operation Paperclip.Marauder and Marchand also bring nothing new to the table as a possible motivation for the authorities not putting them on trial - for example, a theme in I24 is Primal groups wanting to get hold of advanced Praetorian tech, especially the Praetorian Clockwork, so if the "reformed" Praetorians were Neuron and/or Anti-matter, then it'd be easy to see how the authorities would be preapred to let things slide if those 2 agreed to co-operate with salvaging and repurposing their creations.

Yeah, I remember seeing "Captain Mako" ranting about Cthulhu dreaming in sunken R'lyeh.

You just proved this statement wrong by attempting to explain why I was wrong.
Quote:It's a specific term used to refer to a person who has transcended the Well of the Furies, hitherto believed the be the source of ultimate power, and has become a Well himself. -
"Ascended" is just a word for "does not run on Well-ium." As far as I know, Rularuu has never gained his power from the Well, so "rewritten" is in fact an inaccurate statement. In order for him to have been "rewritten," something about him would have to have been fundamentally changed and as far as I know, he's always been the same, mad, fractured, dimension-eating god he's always been.

Quote:So he says. Maybe one day we'll kick his butt. That's cool? Doesn't change what I said, though. They let us be Incarnates, who were supposed to be the Most Powerful Ever class. Now that that class is common and everyone is one, they had to invent a new class above Incarnate that would be the new Most Powerful Ever. That is the Ascended, and we are not allowed to be them or else Prometheus will sic his off screen super ninjas on us.
Actually "Ascended" makes sense, since I could really not imagine a universe eating god like Rularuu being tied to something like the Well. Seems it would limit him too much. So thus he's not.
Quote:And I think Rularuu actually has been recently rewritten to be an Ascended, according to Prometheus.
Also, Ascended aren't actually necessary for Incarnates to fight. So far, other (more powerful) Incarnates have been sufficient for Incarnates to fight. And heck, the Battalion aren't Ascended. They're just a race of more Incarnates. -
Rularuu is not "new." Nor was Mot.

Quote:Some fathers make terrible parents and are only good at planting the seed. You know, for all the grief people give States, they tend to forget, there would be no City of Heroes if not for him. Yeah, he made a lot of sketchy design choices, but he's still become a bit of a Scapegoat Creator. [/devilsadvocate]

Why fight it? Give in. Become one with thy inner... Pacman thing.

To be fair, Chimera's old autohit arrow hold can be rough on squishies. My Corruptor just couldn't do it and my Mastermind had a hell of a time with him.

Quote:I played mine at the same difficulty. Not only did I find the thread drop rate generous, they helped immensely in unlocking the slots. What level did you have your missions on? I had mine at level 50, and team size 1
So clearly, you were doing something wrong.
Quote:Does he come after Bella V? Because I can't get by her mission, at least not alone -

The contrast between the old buildings and that new one just looks terrible.

Quote:You do realize that since Issue 22 there's been solo Incarnate content, right?I am going to need the Incarnate powers to fight Battalion? Well that sucks, I never going to fight him... It too much work to get the dang Incarnate crap to make the powers, ether I have to spend BILLIONS of Inf or farm the TFs for ingredients to make them. I rather became super powerful on my own and take down Battalion on my own. I takes a long time to unlock each Incarnate slots anyways, and besides I don't want to play my level 50 I want to play new heroes
