So it's going free to play so that they can make lots of code changes and upgrades so that it can go free to play? Circular logic is circular.

MacDonalds closing their drive thrus would not affect me at all since i eat that junk maybe two or three times a year, and only if it's the only quick option during long road trips. Come to think of it i never use the drive thru anyway because walking inside is a good excuse to get out of the car and stretch my legs. Even then i can't stand most of the cheap garbage they pass off as food.

Also, that game company you worked for, and we both know which one you mean, is known for 8-12 hour downtimes every time there's a patch and regular multi-hour maintenance sessions. i can only presume the reason you didn't notice that is that being an employee you were working whenever the game was down, and that's the only reason you make assertions that most actual players of the game know are false. (In my case i'm aware of this because i live with two players of that other game.)

Yes and no. For one thing some of those powers are not, and never have been, available to players. Also, NPCs do not necessarily have the same base stats as players, so powers with the exact same or weaker numbers than a player power can be more effective for an NPC. (Also, NPC powers are not slotted, so claiming it's because their powers weren't nerfed is just silly, especially for the player powers that have actually been buffed over the years.) Consider Bobcat being able to basically two-shot a full-strength Primal Hamidon; that is not because she has an unnerfed version of Vengeance or Claws.

The Resistance are annoying because of the powers they have been given and the way those powers work. It's really irrelevant on a number of levels how much those powers duplicate or diverge from player powers since some, like stealth, use different mechanics when used against players than they do when used against NPCs.

No problem. On the flipside Kheldians cannot access APPs or PPPs, so VEATs still have it better than them.

And yet they routinely do from the early levels on.
Mostly because they're dumber than bricks and need to "cheat" to present any sort of challenge at all. That said, the issue is more with the stacking of overpowered abilities and/or abilities that effectively hamstring many ATs and builds on base difficulty. Those types of mobs are much rarer and more annoying.

If by Ancillary you mean the standard APP and Epic you mean Patron Power Pools, then i have to ask if you're respeccing a VEAT? VEATs do not get any access at all to APPs, only the Patron pools.

That's what i did. i really wanted the Celestial sets, so i picked those up right away; and i didn't feel a pressing need for the Tier 9 consumables, so i didn't get any of them yet.

First Ward is probably the best zone ever added to the game in terms of atmosphere, appearance, and storyline. IMO, YMMV, ONVOMOJ

Uh, that didn't make any sense, even when allowing for the errors. Seriously. They did not sell you the contents of the beta. What's in beta is not a valid metric of what you will get when it's released. Notice how we didn't get an extra three enhancement slots when i21 went live? They were in beta for a large part of it.

Also, this seems like a smart move in that travel powers are part of what makes this game so much fun and helps make players feel superpowered.

Uh, you do realize that the market has been across all servers (even across the NA and EU servers when they were separate server lists) since the market was added to the game, right? The only significant change in that status since the addition of the markets was when the hero and villain markets were merged.
The price lists and inventory you see for any item are the same no matter what server you're on.

Although it does take some of the impact away: "This game won't give me access to everything for free?! That does it! I'm quitting and now I won't be using server resources while paying nothing for them! Take that!"

They may have removed having a subscription as a requirement for most of the game's content, but not all of it.

Did you see a thread about Mids' posted here with exclamation points in the title yet? (This is apparently mandatory for all Mids' release announcements. For some reason.)

Unless they have all available builds already filled with IOs they can always switch to a different build with SOs in it. Or, they could buy an invention license, paying less than a seventh of what they were paying per month as a subscriber, and continue using IOs.

i think i remember issue 4 being particularly annoying with constant rubberbanding and server rollbacks, but i could be wrong. As in it took over three minutes to superjump from the Northern tram station to the Steel Canyon Icon. Frequently losing 10-15 minutes of xp when the server was rolled back. Compared to some of the early issues the impact of i21 on my gameplay rewards has been slight. Yes, there's been more downtime, but far less loss of actual play rewards.

*shrug* Since i never posted support for or paid attention to demands that veteran rewards be locked away from newer players i apparently didn't notice most of the threads you mention. i do recall posting in prior years that all veteran rewards should be earnable by all players through things like recipes and mission rewards since veterans receive them automatically for free.

So the new system is a non issue for me. Even without the yearly subscription badges i'd be fine with it.

Strange, since with the release i21 all VIPs are supposed to have Praetorians, and all the other Going Rogue bits, included in their subscription.

So what would you suggest? Saying yes to all demands and then continuing to do exactly what was actually promised when they finally stop whinging? (We've had a couple clients clients who constantly demand things that are completely unreasonable and well outside what they are paying for, so the boss just says yes to everything until they go away and then we do the work we were actually contracted to do. He calls it "yessing them to death.")
