Quote:You're wrong. The (version you present as the) truth is a lie.Mechanisms like betas are designed for mechanical stress testing, not so players can have input on the game's published form. This is a fundamental truth that very, very few people seem to grasp.
Perhaps you should drop by the beta forums sometime. Especially the numerous threads where the Developers solicit player feedback and suggestions, and then state that they're making changes based on that feedback. And then they make the changes and ask for more feedback and suggestions.
Seriously, it's happened in every CoH beta i've ever participated in. -

Quote:The Matrix Room is the much smaller black box under the blue box. Fly under the black box and then type /stuck.I was able to get underneath the map of PI just fine, and I could see and fly over to the big blue box sitting underneath the arena. The problem was getting inside the blue box into the actual matrix room. I tried /stuck while possitioned underneath the box, and also while next to it. Each time it put me back on the surface of the map rather than inside the matrix room. Was I doing something wrong?
This was about a year ago, or longer. Maybe it wasn't working for a while and but does now, I'll have to try again. -
Nope. Only since the arenas were added. It's directly below the arena and the box for the arena interior.
i forgot to check the door and get the /loc yesterday. i'll try to remember today. The door that's been working for me is not actually a clickable door.
Edit: Peregrine Isle: -2750.2 -6.2 -7006.0 (Cutlass Isle/Monkey Island.) You don't need to type /stuck, logging out and back in will put you below ground, so you'll start falling immediately if you don't have a flight power active. -
i really, really like how the dog's running animations look. Surprisingly good. Overall the work on the dog is really nice.
Kudos to the Devs for adding a functional quadruped model. -
Quote:Well, as a number of people who do database type things mentioned during discussions of the upcoming merger, presumably the EU database was added to the US database. This would largely be because the EU database had far fewer entries than the US database, so there would be far fewer entries to check for conflicts, and since the EU records were being added as what would basically be new accounts to the US database there are far fewer opportunities for charlie foxtrots if any conflicts are reconciled by changing the new records as they're being added rather than changing existing database entries. Especially since some entries have to be changed and checked by hand if they're an existing part of the database to prevent FUBARs. This is not an issue with a brand new entry.Yes, I see this answer a lot, again the answer just doesn't make sense. How can you affect the least amount of people?
In order to conflict there has to be the same amount of people affected on a NA server then there are on the EU server, so if 10 from the EU had the same global as 10 on the NA they would conflict. Confliction affects either servers at the time equally, it's impossible for any side to be affected more or less, regardless of size of population.
So that answer did nothing to satisfy me, which is why I wrote a ticket and got no reply, which now I can't blame them for, if that was the best answer they could come up with and post.
Adding a much larger database to a smaller one when conflict checking is necessary is counterproductive and creates far more opportunities for errors to occur. -
Yes, but as was already pointed out against most non-PvP enemies in the game psi damage doesn't have any significant advantage.
There are a few enemies with a weakness to psi damage, mostly found in the early levels, and quite a few with significant resistance or defense against psi. -

Quote:So after several years of beating her senseless until the entire Phalanx came after us in the LRSF it finally stuck? It doesn't come out and say it, but given Darrin Wade's role in the third mission it seems he's the hidden speaker from the previous two SSA's cutscenes.
That happens in the hero version too. And I figured it would happen from the loading screen.(Even if it took someone else to provide the coup de grace.)

Same here. About two weeks ago i used the logout on Monkey Island trick. When i get home in a few hours i'll check the location.

Quote:Over the last few months the forum software has become more and more annoying to work with. i usually use the Hero skin since i like the colors slightly more, but with that getting broken last week and getting logged out every couple of hours that's started up this week i can only hope that this is fallout from developing a fix for the longer term forum issues and will be corrected soon.I can honestly live with having to log back in every couple hours, it's not all that huge a bother (though it is a bother). What gets me is there have been several instances over the weekend when I went and logged in, got the log-in confirmation page, and then when it redirected me back to the actual forums ... I was logged out.
Either that or whoever is in charge of maintaining the forums has finally given up completely on getting them to work well and now types in all changes using their forehead. -

i was referring mostly to an actual Beast Claws attack set, so the choices without recoding the combat engine to link animations and weapon models would be either to make beast claw "gloves" big enough to completely enclose existing character hands (which, considering how big some of the gloves are, would be huge), or make it so that when Beast Claws are "drawn" the original gloves are made invisible. Which would also require new coding, but would just involve making one costume part invisible when the weapon is visible, so probably a fair bit less than trying to link animations to weapons.

Quote:It's one of the standard suggestions and is countered with, "But all the names I want are taken and I don't want to use some crappy name I don't want."Why not just think of a new, more unique name? Is this a weird suggestion to make?
Personally i have little difficulty finding names, but then i use terrible names like Wyrdling, Feral Catgirl, Shadow Projector, Goblin Zero, Blitzmaus, Lefty the Buccaneer, Swamp Witch, and Desert Cat. -
Quote:*sigh* You do realize the "new female torsos" are just different textures, not a change to the geometry, right? Unless you're referring to the geometry change back in '04 or so that removed "nipples" from the torso geometry.I am tired of hearing that it is "impossible" to do this or that based on what is in the game now. All they would have to do is create new hand artwork to go with that specific thing: the new claws would also have new hands! One set new male hands, one set new female hands, one set both male and female monstrous hands, one set of huge hands. Done!
And before I hear any squeaking about "OH WE CAN'T DO THAT!" allow me to remind you that we have new female torsos with new, improved cleavage instead of sporting two boxes on one's chest as we did back in the day. However you can only get that new cleavage by using a few NEW torsos. You want it? You use things like the Barbarian female torso, or Witch, to see it. They didnt retrofit every female torso in the game, they just added NEW ONES.
So, WHY are new hands with claws so "impossible"?! Or indeed, just some new hands, period? I would really like someone to break it down, and "oh its a lot of work for the art dept." is not going to fly. That's what art departments are FOR: to do artwork.
Clawed hands/animated beast claws would require either to create a powerset that swaps out your current hands for the set's weapon models or a total rework of hand models and animations. Not impossible at all, but not currently planned AFAIK.
Animated clawed hands and torso textures are not even in the same ballpark as far as work required. -
"Y'know, there actually *was* a Rikti attack on the way here and I did step in something on the way... Why do you ask?"

Quote:So the pseudo-pet is taking damage, not the mob? Or is it that some powers display their damage numbers above the caster and not the target?More likely it is something in the power "summoned patch" than in the mob or the proc. It is a sphere, it is quite possible the floating number is just happening below the terrain.
i've never noticed either happening previously, but the game does have a few odd quirks like that. -
Quote:It empties your power trays. This makes it easier to put your powers in the right place as you don't have to swap them all the time (especially handy if you respecced because a respec puts all powers randomly in the trays)Quote:Thank you. I assumed that's what it would do, so I'm glad I asked. I would not find that easier. The powers list like the OPs original post dempnstrates is too big a pain to use more than I have to, in my opinion. I'd rather just swap the icons around in the trays, myself, but I'm glad that /cleartray is available and works for some people. I'll go back to hoping for /savetray and /loadtray.

Quote:Uh? How can you return to a game that hasn't launched yet? i sincerely doubt he's not out in MMO-land somewhere right now trying to spread stupidity and influence people, so "return" makes no sense. Can't get enough of Stryker, look for his return....... in the new Star Wars game, you can get that same good time feeling? SOON
i think he's more the Sarlacc Enforcer type. -
Quote:Normally i'd be up for it, but i just got back from New Orleans yesterday. Gonna stay in the Nutmeg State today. So far only one person has confirmed they're attending, so I'm afraid I'm gonna call it off.
A big shame, but I know now that NYC might not have been the best choice of venue due to how insanely expensive lodgings are and I admit I've not been super on the ball about organizing this. Lessons learned.
Thanks for the interest everyone, would have been cool but so it goes. My apologies. -
3) F2P players can't get prizes either. Of course anyone can go Premium by buying $5 or more worth of points.

Yes, nowhere in my post did i imply otherwise. In fact that's why i was suggesting the bug in showing damage numbers from procs was more likely something to do with the mob/entity and not a proc.

i've had even con minions at something close to full health in Poison Trap's AoE suddenly fall over defeated without any visible damage numbers many times. i have three damage procs slotted in Poison Trap and one should not be enough to defeat a minion at or near full health, so i suspect it's an occasional anomaly with the mob, not the procs. Either that or one of the procs is bugged so that it occasionally does massive unreported damage.
