Quote:The problem with that is that you'd have to limit both weapon and shield selections depending on both the primary and the secondary, so that the "gauntlet" pieces appeared only when both Claws and Shield were chosen. That would probably require either an engine update or creating a new version of Claws and Shield Defense that only work with each other and have different weapons. Either would probably be too much work right now...Quote:Well, with a primary and secondary being locked into pairing with each other it's almost more the basis for a new EAT. The small shields that would occasionally have blades or spikes attached were bucklers IIRC.
So the new Buck Buck AT starts out with a chicken costume and really badass looking Bladed Bucklers as their default outfit.
Magic Hate Ball's response to my suggestion: "Probably, but you suck" -
Quote:Well, i actually have a Magic Hate Ball set up on my phone now, so i'll see what it says. Mind you, not all the responses can be posted here.Hahahaha...seriously man, you need to haul out the Tragic Eight Ball and give it a whirl, just to see its take on the matters at hand. Inquiring minds want to know! :^)
Here goes... *shakes Magic Hate Ball* ...Magic Hate Ball says: "Get bent"
i don't know quite how it relates to this thread, or GR/marketing in general, but there you have it.
*shakes again*
Magic Hate Ball says, "No means no, ***"
Yeah, that's enough of MHB for now.
(Yes, you requested Tragic Eight Ball, but it was off somewhere doing something, so all i had on hand was MHB.) -
Quote:Some of the warehouse maps aren't completely out of line with real warehouses i've seen where additional wings/buildings were added onto the original structure as the company expanded, but generally they would make more sense if most were redesigned to be factory maps, which do tend to be more compartmentalized than warehouses.Warehouse maps should probably look more like the boat maps, I think.
Actually, i've been in a lot of factory/warehouse/industrial sites that are a cluster of interconnected buildings and spaces. Usually not quite as random/puzzling as CoX maps, for one thing the elevated areas are generally office and administrative areas instead of being more storage, but many older industrial sites are sprawling and counter-intuitive layouts. -
Quote:Well, with a primary and secondary being locked into pairing with each other it's almost more the basis for a new EAT. The small shields that would occasionally have blades or spikes attached were bucklers IIRC.Well wait a second...
I think it could work, it'd just require new claws and shields. If you choose this power combination, maybe it'd lock the normal "claws" and "shields" options in the costume section and replace it with "gauntlets" or something. Basically, Gauntlets would be shields with claws sticking out on each arm OR clawed gloves that had shields on the back of the hands. You probably couldn't customize the individual claws/shield parts but the weapon as a whole. Incidentally, I don't think that'd work with Spines or Dual Blades.

Quote:Umm, Defenders are, based on their description, supposed to have better buff/debuff and damage than Controllers. They are buff/debuff primary and damage secondary. Controllers are control primary and buff/debuff secondary with no damage focus at all.As for the question of whether Defenders under-perform I'm going to say yes and no. I think that overall they probably are balanced, they do less damage than the other support classes (Corruptors and Controllers) but make up for it with better buffs.
It used to be that Controllers were expected to be even more reliant on teams than Defenders since Controllers had no damage focus at all, so it's almost odd that you accept Controllers as having superior damage as a matter of course.
i suspect that on average that Controller and Defender damage aren't that far apart, from what i recall Defenders on average can actually put out slightly better damage, but Controllers can use their damage with far greater safety, which means they can deal far more damage for the risks they take.
i've played both Defenders and Controllers to 50. My Controllers overall solo faster than my Defenders, and both do about equally on teams. -
Quote:Oh sure, ruin a perfectly good nightmare with basic logic. Spoilsport.Say that Jack did come back to the CoH dev team. How much influence would he have? Positron is the leader of the dev team now, and I assume Positron has final say on what this game needs and doesn't need, it's not like the keys of the city will be handed back to Emmert.

Quote:*sigh* Again for the reading-impaired: character models/skeletons have "nodes" that allow various costume pieces to be attached. You cannot attach a piece where there is no node. There is one node on each arm/hand where a weapon/shield/other object can be attached. You cannot attach an object like a shield if there is no node available to attach it to in the first place, which is the case if the node is already being used for another weapon.A way arround this that i could see would be having a shield fixed to the back of each arm, that way it wouldn't interfere with the weapons. although it would be quite stupid and not worth the time spent working it into the game. Claws and stone armour on the other hand...
This is a game engine limitation, not an aesthetic limitation. Adding more nodes is obviously not a simple thing, and would probably require rewriting huge amounts of the game's basic animation code, and then dealing with rewriting all the secondary code since the game was launched that would no longer work properly... just a little bit of work. Who knows, maybe something like that will be in GR, but i have my doubts. -
Quote:Basically, no. The Gaussian's proc will only check each time Rage fires/is clicked, which mean you only have a 5% chance for it to work every couple of minutes depending on Rage's cycle time.Okay, you guys were great help on the Numina's thing. THanks
Now for Rage, I just threw in Gaussian's full set when I hit 50 a couple weeks ago. The idea was to see if the Chance for Build Up "Gives a 5% chance to have a "Build Up" power effect the caster" affected all my attack powers. The other alternative is that it just affects the one power Gaussian is in, and since Super Strength RAGE does no damage of itself, would be useless. Unfortunately, Brute damage numbers already swing so wildly I cannot judge if it ever happens Does anyone know if the Gaussian's chance for build up is doing me any good in Brute rage?
The main reason to slot the proc is to get the 6th set bonus, but it is somewhat more useful in faster cycling tohit buffing powers like Follow Up. Since it's a unique i would not put it in Follow Up if i was going to slot the Gaussian's set in another power, and i would otherwise slot Follow Up as a normal attack.
Also, i would suggest looking just a little bit lower in the forum list and reading and asking question in the Archetypes and Powers forums. Your most recent question would be a good fit for the Brute forums. -

Quote:Honestly, if the only reason you were staying subbed is to get more GR news, then you should have canceled a while back because whenever news is released it's publicly available to all, no subscription required. There's really no reason to subscribe to a game you don't particularly care for or enjoy playing. You can always renew your subscription when GR goes to open beta if that's your only interest. The point? To share why I just canceled my account and what might have prevented me from doing that. I went into much greater detail in NCSoft's exit survey I filled out after canceling. I'm not "holding anyone hostage". I'm simply not paying a recurring subscription fee.
I didn't post here to argue about it. -
*shakes Magic Hate Ball*
Magic Hate Ball says, "**** off, and don't bother me until next week."
Guess that's a no. -
If you mean multiple copies of the same set, then sure, as long as you want to keep getting more copies of that set's bonuses.

Quote:It will work exactly as advertised. Dropping it into a passive power means it's always working as long as you're past the level the power was taken. It gives a nice bonus, but it's not nearly as overpowered as you seem to think.Okay, I saved all my in-game cash, transferred it to one Uber toon, and decided to dive into I/Os. Now I am lost, lol. Todays question is about Numina's Convalescence, the Regeneration/Recovery one that gives "Adds a 20.0% bonus to regeneration rate and a 10.0% bonus to endurance recovery rate for 120 seconds." And my question is this, If I drop that into High Pain Tolerance, a passive/always on power, will it have any effect. According to a page on ParaWiki "Since Procs work when the power is activated, then they continuously work when slotted in a Passive Power or in a Toggle that's turned on. Procs that are in continuous powers cycle or pulse on once every 10 seconds. This is also true when they work in certain pseudopets like 'rains' or 'patches' that have an enduring effect. If slotted in a click power, Procs activate just once for the duration of their effect." Problem is I do not believe this. Too good to be true and all that. I can afford the Numina, I can even afford to buy and sell it if I do not need it. But there are only so many respecs....

i'd suggest reading the thread again. It was explained several times that it wasn't simply looks that make sets like Claws and Spines unusable with shields, it's because there are a limited number of nodes on the character models for attaching costume pieces like Claws, Spines and Shields and a node cannot have more than one piece attached.

Quote:The first time i saw that ad i was utterly flummoxed. "Uh.. what? Wait... what?! The. hell. What is the point of this commercial?! Wow, that ad agency is staffed by idiots." The comments for the video are pretty spot on as well.
i figured that out when i noticed they were hard and crunchy on the outside with a soft and chewy center. -
Quote:There is no simple way that comes to mind. i have done it on occasion by either writing down the sets while looking at the enhancement screen or simply screenshotting my sets and displaying the image to one side while typing it into Mids'.Just wondering if there was a way I could export my build with the IOs listed without having to alt tab out trying to remember what IO I have in each power.
Having been away so long I would like to post some of my builds to get some advice but tabbing in and out of the game to get the info and then inputting it into hero builder is literally putting me to sleep..
I have about 6 to 8 50's or close to 50 toons and as you could imagine that is a lot of alt tabbing out
i suspect someone could write an app to acquire the slotting info from the client, but i've never heard of it being done. Sorry that i can't be more help. -
Quote:Or even just link the doors up so we can enter and exit the room from the arena interior doors that look like they should lead to it anyway. Sure it'll serve no real function, but it'll look cool anyway, much like many other places in Paragon City. You are correct. When you entered an event, you were teleported into this room to wait for the event to start. Ultimately, we decided it was an unnecessary step, which, unfortunately, obviated the use of this rather cool room.

Quote:Fire_Minded, i've been seeing a lot of threads started by new players recently, especially in the Player Questions section of the forums, but in all other areas as well. If you read some of them you'll notice that overall the responses are friendly and helpful when the new player posts a polite, intelligible question. Hell, you'll usually see half a dozen helpful replies all giving the same basic info posted within minutes of each other as various forumites all try to help. Yeah, there are occasional snarky or snarky-seeming posts, but even those posters generally apologize or explain what their intended tone was when others point it out.Wow you really see yourself as a victim, as the one who's being picked on by all the big bad forum members?
Do you seriously not consider the possibility that the problem is YOU?
Please, if you haven't, check the thread I linked in my prior post. You've brought this all upon yourself.
If you really don't get it then I honestly don't think you're stupid, I think you probably truly suffer from a social anxiety disorder of some sort. I've established that I'm not worried about being openly insulting so believe that I'm not saying that to be rude or insulting, I'm quite sincere.
Try reading some of those threads and asking yourself what it is the new posters there are doing differently.
i thought i was done with this thread, but i just wanted to point out some examples of people who post as newbies, but with a much less arrogant, dismissive and confrontational attitude, and the difference it makes in the responses they get.
Like here, here, here, here and (last but not least) here. (Also, please note that none of those posts are examples of perfect grammar and spelling, but at least they made an effort.)
Yes, there are the occasional snarks, but by and large if you ask nicely people will answer nicely. i've read the forums for a number of other MMO's, and i'd say that overall the official City of X forums are some of the friendliest and most tolerant forums i've seen. This also applies when comparing them to internet forums in general. No, really. -
Quote:No, the only Psi Ancillary Power Pool that provides any mez protection is Indomitable Will in Psionic Mastery for Controllers, and it's a click power, not a toggle. The Psi Epic pool provides some useful protections as Toggles
With high enough recharge bonuses it's possible to make Indomitable Will effectively permanent, barring recharge rate debuffs. -
