    That's a good point, but making the players take a train would help introduce them to mechanics of using the train stations, which is the whole point of the suggestion. Still, a police van would also work as a way of introducing zone select menus and transport use in CoX. Possibly also a note about how you can use your map to find trains, gates and automobiles...

    Cut scene spam

    i've occasionally made binds for the cutscenes, but it's not a phrase spammed over and over. Usually, if i bother at all, it's some sort of comment about how the NPC's always get to hog all the cutscenes, or something about how we get that they're totally badass camera hogs, but could they just wrap it up so that we can get down to kicking their *****?
    Which is something that does not lend itself to spamming.

    During the final Rommy battle i tend to comment on his obsession with real estate.

    Me: What's with the real estate obsession? It's not always that good of an investment.

    I miss it when I think back, I also find it shocking that my friend who has been playing as long as I have doesn't even remember this little feature they had put in. thats how quickly it was removed due to complaints from people who prolly don't even play anymore to begin with.
    Personally i was one of those who didn't think the way it was done looked all that good. Now i may not have the same amount of time here as you, but i do still play the game. (My forum registration date is not the same as when i started playing CoH. i didn't join CoH until a little bit after Issue 1 was already on the training room for testing.)

    i would like to see a video of banking in flight as well. i know it's probably not as clunky and odd-looking as i remember. Now this might be wrong, but as i recall the banking animation caused issues with the player camera rotation or some such? It's been a long time, but i recall there was some issue with it that was problematic beyond just the appearance.

    i wasn't taking him seriously. Just pointing out that some players actually view that as the stereotype of the average CoV player. Which is just silly. i encounter more arrogant, unpleasant jerks blueside than redside. And i mean that proportionally, not just in terms of numbers.
  8. You use online translation tools like Yahoo!'s Babelfish to translate and then copy and paste it into your bind or macro. Arabic is not an option at Babelfish, but Korean, Japanese and several flavors of Chinese are usable.

    "Feel pain." in:
    Russian: Боль чывства.
    Korean: 느낌 고통.
    Simplified Chinese: 感受痛苦。
    Japanese: 感じの苦痛。

    So far every language i've tried displays correctly in game, but not all browsers will without appropriate language packs.

    And yet somehow my Dark/Archery Defender performs rather well both solo and on teams. Rain of Arrows is especially fun since you can launch it around corners, just like Tar Patch.

    My Dark/Ice skipped Freeze Ray and took Dominate at 41. So far all my Dark Miasma users have been easy to play, but i find Dark Miasma makes almost any set it's paired with look good.

    My DP/Dark Corruptor is a blast to play. The -res from Tar Patch is a big help, and i received the defense debuff set -res proc (whose name escapes me at the moment) as a lucky drop in the teens and immediately slotted it into Pistols.
  12. A couple years ago i had a ninja-themed ill/TA Controller that took Jump Kick. It suited the theme pretty well.

    There you have it. One more reason not to play redside. Mind you, i know enough to realize JJ is not in fact typical of redside players, so i play redside anyway, but JJ is the sort of person some stereotype as being the sort of person who plays redside, not realizing that just like blueside only some players are petty, juvenile, narcissistic jackholes.

    (i suppose i should say the attitude JJ affects in his post. He amused me, but his post did fit the stereotype of a redside jerkhacker.)

    i don't think that means what you think it means.

    Are you sure one wasn't a brute or something? You can go to base and other zones as long as all members of the team are the same faction, red or blue.

    Keep in mind that the fire DoT is bonus damage in addition to the normal damage for no additional endurance cost at all. Generally speaking i use Fire ammo for some extra punch against any enemies not resistant to fire, regular ammo for better solo mitigation and enemies who are weak against lethal, like Carnies. Chemical ammo against nastier enemies on teams.

    i almost never use Cryo ammo, but it is sort of pretty to fire it off every now and again. Even against enemies who are weak against cold its combined effects don't seem useful enough to use it over any of the other ammo types.
  16. Well Jump Kick used to be much worse than it is now. The activation time used to be much higher making it a long animation, low damage attack in addition to having an animation that many players found a bit ugly. And of course most would think that a jump kick would involve jumping of some sort, not flopping/somersaulting around on the ground. Now you can interrupt the last part of the animation, so it's not as absurdly long as it used to be. It's no longer a terrible power, just a somewhat ugly one.

    Uh, which dev forum are you talking about? Am confoozled.

    i wouldn't mind a "ninja run stance", but i don't think the game coding currently supports it, and i don't consider it important enough to spend a lot of time making. Maybe make a zero endurance, zero movement boost, zero movement suppression, but otherwise identical to Ninja Run "Ninja Walk" toggle.
  18. Cascading defense failure can work for you just as much as it can for mobs.
    There's a big difference between hitting 50% and hitting 95% of the time. Against enemies that are higher con and/or high defense, stacking -def debuffs can make that difference. Admittedly it's not as useful in the later game, but in the early to mid game -def debuffs can be very useful.

    Edit: Late game the -def powers can of course be used to stack procs.

    Hmmm, jellied larks' tongues in aspic... i think that could be adapted to use puppies in place of larks. For the other one... Well,they were both airborne, so i think we can stick with the birds for now.

    Hopefully there will be enough available of the theme ingrediants for multiple dishes a la Iron Chef. What's the yield on a Bismarck Bomb again?

    This is most of my alts. At this point though it's usually more about trying out set and Archetype combinations that i haven't played before that seem like they'd be fun.

    Agreed. As already noted adding 70+ employees is not equal to adding 70+ developers, developers, developers. That's a Microsoft thing.

    Still, i would accept a position as developer at Paragon Studios even if it was Developer in charge of Coffee, Tea and Snacks (Dev: CTS) as long as it paid a decent wage. If nothing else it would be an amusing resume entry, and i think i've already developed some rather tasty items in those areas that would could be easily ported to Paragon Studios.

    i come up with my own builds as well. Yes, i use Mids', but it does not decide which powers i will take, i do. (In fact, other than loading other people's builds into Mids', i don't know of any way to have it make a build for you.) Although i usually don't bother using Mids' to plan a build until the late 30's or so, and not even always then. i have a completely IO'ed out Dark/Ice Defender that i still haven't gotten around to reproducing in Mids' for those who occasionally ask for a Dark/Ice build or advice. (Dark/Ice seems to be a somewhat uncommon pairing for Defenders.) Of course i don't expect anyone to follow it exactly when i finally make it available, but it may spark ideas in others.

    Powersets are not archetypes, they subsets of archetypes, powersets of those archetypes, even. There is no Fire/Fire Tanker archetype, only the Tanker archetype. Just a nit that i'm picking for the heck of it. i mean it's not like you see the archetype list every time you go to this section, or even the word archetype at the top of every single page in this section, right?
