Some day you'll get an imagination/empathy module installed.

As for my characters being aware of me.... interesting question. i suppose it depends on how much of their personality is determined by what i imagined them as being. Several would probably be very resentful, several would think it's hilarious, some would shrug, and few would probably be curled in a fetal position in the corner, gibbering.

Then again some of my real life acquaintances react similarly. i have one friend (a rather well known web comicker) who used to say "You frighten me." every time we ran into each other. We'd then hang out for a while. Strange lad that one. Now we only occasionally run into each other at cons and he's stopped saying that. i'm almost disappointed.

i can think of one or two that are significantly less restrictive, but i obviously can't say more than that.

i'm guessing a staff switchup of some sort at NCsoft changed who creates the policies a couple months ago. Perhaps a Chinese government minister was hired to set forum policy.

Unless it notifies me at the top of whatever forum i'm currently browsing like PMs do the odds are that it might be a month or more before i notice any i do get. A couple weeks back i looked at my USER CP and noticed i'd gotten friend requests. i hadn't previously even paid attention to the existence of a forum friends function. i mostly use the forums to, surprisingly, read the forums, and very occasionally send a PM to other forum users.

Now that you've reminded me of Visitor Messages the consequences will never be the same. My use of them most likely will.

Edit: So i went and turned them on just for the hell of it. It seems that most times i've glanced at who has recently viewed my profile it's been at least one mod, so maybe i done goofed up by turning it on. Now i'll get backtraced for sure.

    Nevermind.

Yeah, so i was playing [Noun: The Gerund] and it totally reminded me of this [topic], so you can imagine my surprise seeing [it] near the top of this [forum section].

Still, Morty's fine with me, if a bit punny.

Ah, but the OP's whinging about server unification and transatlantic teamage was about how those non-North American players playing on US servers was an impediment to his gaming pleasure, so unless you can pop over to another continent your offer of transatlantic teaming is meaningless. He can barely tolerate furriners on his servers, much less contemplate trying out the EU servers that are chock full of them.

It's worth noting that unless he addressed it in a post that i missed that he still hasn't said exactly what servers those outside the US and EU should log into. Or maybe, similar to the classic New Yorker map of the world, he thinks of the Earth as "the US" and "everywhere else" with both being about equal size.

(Obviously Dual Pistols is the secondary, so really i'm asking what primary and pools you're using.)

I'm confused as to the point of the Incarnate abilities. At this point, is it safe to say that you pick one thing that you want to enhance, and assume that the other features are wastes of time/chaff?
It enhances effects in a power that has those effects if they are normally enhanceable through slotting.
The simplest way is to think of it as an invisible HO in all of your powers. Like an HO, any effects in a power that aren't present or enhanceable will be unaffected.

    No, not really.
A few server forums list available names that other players have freed up or found in a thread, but that's no guarantee they're available at this moment.

Thanks for your input. I have not played Dark/Ice but I have used both sets with other combos. I can definatly see the benifits to your choice.

    Thanks again.
Doctor Dinosaur is one of Atomic Robo's enemies. Atomic Robo is a comic book written by Brian Clevinger.

Honestly, i initially chose Dark Miasma/Ice Blast for the varied effects and utility of Dark Miasma coupled with Ice's rarely resisted damage, -recharge, and Blaster level damage rain powers. As noted almost any combo can be justified, so i like to use unusual combos with a wide range of utility and effects for mad doctors.

This varies from moment to moment, but at this particular instant i would probably go with an AR/Traps as an homage to Doctor Dinosaur, one of my all-time favorite mad/evil doctors.

My Dark/Ice Defender Dr. Malthusian started out as a an alternate world saurian humanoid (from an Earth where the Permian Extinction never occurred and saurians occupied the niche currently occupied by mammals, including primates) with something of the personality of Washu from the various Tenchi Muyo series, but when i saw Doctor Dinosaur i realized she was basically a hybrid of the two.
  16. It's almost impossible to answer this without writing a few dozen pages. It's worth noting that most evil "scientists" should more properly be regarded as evil engineers. They're generally not experimenting using proper control groups and everything else. Usually they're just applying existing scientific and technological knowledge for evil purposes...

Saying "I wonder what will happen if I burn all of his skin off." before hitting someone with a flamethrower doesn't count as doing science.

Armour plate doesn't glow where sheet metal doesn't, nor does a cat glow where a turtle doesn't. However, when you exude what I can only describe as "tangible darkness," this needs an effect. A tintable effect, obviously, but it needs SOME effect there.

We can argue as to what the effect should be and how pronounced it should be, and we can probably argue for more aura options for the powerset. But what I am not open to arguing is whether these effects should or should not exist. They should, in some form or another.

Now, if only we could have that "No Fade or Pulse" option for Energy Cloak like we have for Cloak of Shadows...

About the reason for post, I don't have the solution. I don't run a hosting business and I'm not a game developer all I care about is my ingame experience.
R&D is irrelevant. The mention of McAfee was even more irrelevant to the game. Based on this and other posts i have a feeling you're still not comprehending what other people are posting. Or you're disregarding it because it doesn't align with your assumptions.

i will tell you this now even though you'll probably ignore it anyway: Latency and delays in player zoning and reactions has lees to do with country of origin than it does their ISP and computer system.

Once more for emphasis: i regularly team with people from around the world. When player location has occasionally come in chat i have noticed no correlation between geographical location and speed of response or zoning. However, there is frequently a correlation between ISP/connection quality/bandwidth and/or player computer system performance and their ability to react in game.
Edit: i know this because people who are having issues frequently say something along the lines of "my computer/ISP/network sucks", at which point it's commonly asked where they're located. The people talking about how much their ISP sucks are frequently from the US. On an individual ISP level the US seems to have a lot of crappy ISPs. Probably due to a combination of lack of investment in infrastructure upgrades by many companies both in upgrading existing aging networks and extending the networks to more rural areas. A number of the old telcos had (have? don't know current status) been receiving tax breaks specifically to subsidize infrastructure upgrades for over a decade without actually doing any.
  19. Also, FWIW, the markets have been cross server, across all* servers, since they were added. The only innovation was removing the factional separation.

In many ways the merger improved the markets, but it's done relatively little to affect inflation. Really, the only way to do that is to add more ways to destroy influence. There are some players actually working at doing that by converting billions of their inf into prestige, and they have my approval and admiration.

Generally i dump any salvage i don't need onto the market for 5 inf. i also do some crafting and selling, so i rarely put commonly desired recipes on the market.

    *Including the EU servers.

Is this for me or for publisher? I know what I posted. For what it's worth you can call me an idiot...that's how much I think of your opinion.

Moving along, all of us everyday are protecting what we invest in. Some do it with their cars, families, looks, jobs, kids, marriages, or whatever. Who wants to invest in something that is ending?
Because your posts convey both ignorance and arrogance about many things relevant to what you're whinging on about. A fair number of other people, including myself, have addressed specific inaccuracies and assumptions in your posts. So your reply drives home the point that you've made up your mind about the state of things and are ignoring any facts that conflict with that model.

To paraphrase the Doctor: "The very powerful and very stupid have something in common: instead of changing their opinions to match reality they change reality to match their opinions."

It's all so clear now... I20 is going to be the introduction of the new-and-improved F2P version of CoH.
We've even got a thread dedicated to wild i20 speculation. i do expect it's already been added there already.

Bah! Allowing self-tweaking will be necessary when they add new emanation points for blasts and other powers.

However, i'm quite certain that below the waist emanation points will never be added, so no homages to Codpiece or Fartman will ever be possible.

Hmmm, interesting idea. i could support that. Perhaps the some of the things that aren't yet fully implemented would allow cross-server teaming such that F2P players could join regular subscriber teams if desired and vice-versa.

That's the thing about networks. Real world distance between systems frequently isn't as significant as the number of hops and the bandwidth, configuration and connection quality between those hops. Most people either don't know or don't care about the most basic details of how stuff like that works and just assume that the real world length of the "tubes" is all that matters.
