  1. This may be wishful thinking or I've missed something - but I had understood that the latest Mids had inherent fitness - but my version doesn't seem to. (Using v1.81 and no updates seem to be available.)

I thought (but I'm open to correction) that this version was ready for I19 builds - do I need to do something different?
  2. I'm very impressed with GR so far - but I am beginning to get the impression there's one rather large omission from it - but I've not explored every aspect and it's possible I'm missing something.

If I am, then I hope I'll be corrected but if I'm not, then I think this is an oversight - but to me, an important one I feel.

I cannot yet see any point in remaining true to your original alignment in terms of game reward or any advantage to doing so. A-Merits are available to Heroes and Villains equally so whichever side I start out at, from level 20 I can swap and start earning them at will. The worst penalty for side switching is a slight loss of time available to earn merits.

Yet if I start out as a hero, and I steadfastly remain a hero (or villain as the case may be) then I'm technically penalised - I miss out on content that is available to people who do side switch.

To me this seems very odd - when it's a fundamental tenet of the game that you pick a side from the start. Sure Going Rogue allows you to swap but it's almost forcing you to swap sides at least once - and if you don't, then you're losing out.

I can see there's an argument that says "well the Devs want you to experience the content on the other side" but in an as alt-friendly game of this maturity that CoXGR is it seems highly unlikely that most players who've played for a while won't have experienced it - so that argument's relatively easily countered.

So what's the advantage in game terms (in other words excluding RP/Personal Satisfaction/Other reasons) to stick to your original alignment? If there isn't an advantage, as I suspect is the case, should there be one? It seems loyalty to high ideals or to Lord Recluse is penalised, not rewarded. Switch from Hero to Villain to Hero again nobody bats an eyelid, but to remain a constant Villain or Hero is all a bit pointless perhaps?

Now...what they might do, is once or twice a year, pick two packs at random, cut the price in half for that week, and then put them back at the regular price.

It becomes a sale, it's random packs, so it's not like people can say, I'll wait, since they don't know when or if that pack will hit the sale.
If the Boosters have sufficient quality, people will buy them when they first become available, because a) people want stuff like that and the repeated release of boosters demonstrates this quite well and b) the fans enjoy supporting the game and are happy to go an extra mile to help contribute to its wellbeing so long as we're not getting shafted.

You're right! I stand corrected but the point still stands that the increased revenue generated enabled the Devs to produce something that people had been after for a long time.

One important point is that Boosters are entirely optional - nice (some even say great) to have but not necessary.

Just a couple of weeks ago, I snagged both Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 for, like $15 when both games alone cost I think $20 or $30.

An "everything pack" would contain all Booster packs so far released and be available for purchase say, a week out of every six months or out of every year. I'd price it at $20, such that those who've missed out more than two booster packs will have a good deal out of it, potentially getting people to spend more money AND get things they would otherwise not have bought, and maybe even use them.

After all, I really didn't need or want the original Left 4 Dead, but hey - it was a good deal. Might as well.

Especially if they sweetened the deal with an "everything PLUS" pack - where there was something in it for those who'd got Everything already
  7. Boosters have done a lot for this game. Positron stated that the income generated from the Wedding Pack enabled Power Customisation - something that people had been wanting for a LONG time.

The other boosters have all had some good stuff in but not "must have" items - mostly the balance is just about right -- the exceptions being the Party Pack and the Monthly Jet Pack - but are highly over-priced fluff and people vote with their wallets. I cannot remember when I saw the jet pack in game, so clearly people aren't buying stuff they feel is of little value.

But the bottom line is that if Boosters are selling well, then that means the game is solid and will continue to grow. That is a GOOD thing
  8. Whilst I do understand how some feel about it, it's not a huge deal for me, and this number expresses it quite nicely

I strongly suspect I'm in a minority but I see pools and Ancillary/Patron powers as common throughout the game. Your primary powers are yours, your pool powers are available to everyone, and your epics are given you by your patron/hero corps and so are a kind of standard out of the box.

I have some sympathy for HEATs especially though, and I'd go with the limited range of colour choices - a Kheldian spamming dayglo pink and green would be just horrible IMO.

Edited to add That I hate the yellow glow of Hasten but I make the choice to take a fair bit even though I know how horrid it looks. That's the Henry Ford school of choice

THIS!!!!! Resoundingly so! There's some fantastic content I'm still discovering and having a lot of fun with, but I expect I will probably respec those who REALLY need it in due course.

For now I'm just playing as I normally do and I'll stress about Stamina when I19 is out and proven and I need to

    Apex?

doh thanks for clearing that one up peoples

Hadn't thought of that but that's cool! That'd be really cool.

One thing I do like is how the Devs seem to have gotten a lot more willing to experiment since... well I'm feeling that I14 Architect was the turning point. That's just my opinion though
  12. Scarlet Shocker

    Mr ? no more

So let me get this straight...

you were "Mr Questionmark" on the EU boards and @Mr ? in game

but then the boards were merged and you could be Mr ?

and then the /tell bug came along and you couldn't be Mr ? and more and so have to be Mr Questionmark... (I feel like I should finish that sentence with a ? but I don't want to confuse things, do I?)

I'm confused. Can I just call you Dave instead?

(to be serious it's sad you've had to lose a name you cherish but at least Mrs ? didn't have to change her name to Mrs Dave)
  13. Scarlet Shocker

    Apex?

    So how'd he get back?

Wasn't he lost with the rest of Omega team? Do we discover this during the TF?
  14. I've been thinking about Tin Mage's appearance and contrary to many opinions here I think it works and works well

For me, signature characters need something extra and it doesn't have to look "fantastic" or "awesome" but they should look striking - different, unusual, eye catching.

Judging by the reactions here, negative and positive both, I think it does that
  15. Scarlet Shocker dinged on one of the big outdoor maps - this would have been back in 2006, and I'd got about 28 people in the map with me - we'd invite someone, they'd join, enter the map and quit the team to join another team and follow us around.

Psyber-Girl dinged on the Egg Hunter badge, after going from 20-50 in a DXP weekend but she's been remade since then.

I can barely remember the other 50s dings in comparison. It'd be nice to ding 50 with the Top Dog badge but you'd have to forgo the Atlas Medallion for a long while
  16. So let's remember the good work that BAB and others have done to make this such a great game - and maybe one day we'll get the answer to the burning question: "Why did everyone call him BaB instead of BAB?"
  17. loving everything I've seen (thanks for the vids JJ) and read here.

I19 is an issue I'm really excited about.

One thing I'm not sure I've missed or haven't seen mentioned but in the Praetorian Zone Events, where there are 2 sides you can take, does that turn into a PVP event or will you be in a different instance depending on your choice or will it be PVE but you can't target players of a different choice etc etc?

Any light to be shed here?

Also if you effectively need the Alpha Slot for the new TFs, how will that effect performance on existing TFs? Will it effect them at all (I'm guessing it will if it makes us more powerful) so we'll be soloing Hamidon on the LGTF and eating Imperious for brekkie

I appreciate it's not a cut and dried issue, but the official responses are rather lacking.

Striga has plenty of hero content so it'd be difficult to let villains in and tweak the content for them to do. DA also has a distinct flavour, even though there's not much to do there apart from farm BP

Boomtown's a wreck, and looks great because of that but has no useful villain groups, and no content to speak of.

IMPO devs, it's time to create a new co-op zone or re-purpose another existing zone into a co-op zone.

  23. I think I know what the reason why BaBs has gone:

    CLOWNS!

    Slotting Brawl

yeah the problem is there's no global IO that can be slotted in it. Unsurprisingly perhaps, I think it would become one of the most popular and expensive IOs in game ;-)
