Actually I'll probably miss the original training zones more than Galaxy because I'd often get the badge and it's a quick level but I'm not likely to shed too many tears because we're getting new content

Bye! Can I have your stuff?
  3. I will miss Galaxy City because it's just not worth slotting for accuracy to hit it!

If you have actual first hand knowledge of the problem, by all means enlighten me. It will obviate the need to perform a failure mode analysis on the vBB code, which I plan to do this weekend. I will have a better idea of what might be going on, and I will also probably be cranky that I'm spending my weekend doing someone else's job.

Well if you can't understand it that's your issue. If you're cranky for doing somebody else's job, then don't do it and stop being cranky.

The logout bug is related to the game login. Because it's NCSoft policy that only subscribed players can participate on the forum which I understand is not something that vBB copes with well. There were a number of attempted fixes, but whilst they worked for some, they completely prevented others from posting at all. Thus there was a tacit admission that this particular bug had beaten the powers that be and so it was effectively rolled back.

Whether this new increase in logouts is related to Freedom I don't know but it could well be.
  5. you could also play the game for fun and the enjoyment of actually playing, rather than aiming solely for a "reward"
  6. The forum logout issue got fixed

It just meant that a lot of people couldn't even post to the forum. So while for the majority it worked, for many it made the forum impossible to use. They genuinely did work very hard on this issue and tried all they could but just couldn't fix it the way they'd like.

The biggest problem is the fact they have to tweak vBulletin to work with the game account login something that is stretching its capability more than intended but without a serious upgrade to forum software (they've basically pushed vBulletin as far as possible in terms of number of boards anyhow) which is unlikely to happen, the bottom line is get used to it.

If you get logged out you get logged out, so learn to save your work if it's important before you post. But at least this way all forumites can post which the fix prevented.

hope you're feeling more human now! Or we could make a zombie game about ya!

Gotta book the pass a year in advance huh? ;-)
  10. I just wanna thank Kelandra for a great event and I had a blast on the sunday. Totally fantastic and great to meet so many people who I know even if only indirectly.

Thanks also to Kendai and Tenebris as my erstwhile welcoming committee and to the rest of you for a fab time.

Great to put names to faces too. I apologise in advance for not remembering you all individually - lots to take in.

PS... if you are over 12 you get to give Kendai a slap every time he says "old man" cuz he's really only 11 ;-)

  13. I seem to recall from the comics that BAB had mostly retired until the Rikti Invasion - and it was that event that brought him back.

I've always thought of his relationship with FP a very akin to the Marvel "Defenders" - as a kind of erstwhile or honorary member - trusted to be a part of the team without being a card carrying member.

And as I write I seem to recall he was one of the subjects of the History plaques - and (possibly?) pre-dates the Phalanx by some years. So from my perspective he's a part yet distinct from FP but maybe not distinct enough to give him an individual group in the AE?

Um... .... This is different than all of the other bot runners in other games that originate in other countries ... how?

Most likely the fact that it's a state sanctioned enterprise
  16. I'm sure Ace McKnight's in there but he always struck me as a poor man's Nick Fury - in your pic I think you are indicating he's "Dreamcast Man" (who I've never heard of)

  19. yes but that's 6.2 million dollars they didn't have before (minus PayPal's cut of course)

and when your average income is $0.03 per hour, $6.2 mil is a lot. And will pay for 4 extra missiles to aim at the "enemy"

You say the stability fixes haven't worked, but I haven't had any issues. It may be that their systems are more like mine, or at least giving them my experience, which would make it REALLY hard to reproduce what's going on.

Basically, saying "Fix it!" doesn't really do anything.

    Toyota had the same issue.

I have... pretty much never crashed on a trial (I think once, just after they were introduced.) Unlike the Roman Hill/Bridge lag, which everyone hits to some extent - this just isn't universal. So what, exactly, should they fix?

I have an Nvidia so it can't be the ATI issue. I get some lag on Lag Hill but I've never ever crashed like this on other parts of the game... nor do I crash when playing other games - and frankly that's looking like an increasingly attractive option these days!

What should they fix? If you're asking me to tell them how to code I won't go there, but there's clearly an issue with Incarnate/League/End Game content. There is a huge stability issue with Incarnate content - and that's a known issue.

    PANCAKE Leagues!

So I'm sitting in a screen loader for a BAF.

I've been sitting in the screen loader for this BAF for 5 minutes now. I know what's gonna happen next. I'm going to have to reboot my PC and when I relog I won't be able to rejoin the league. Task Manager will just lock my machine up as the whole shebang crashes.

(As I speak this is exactly what's happening - and in case you're wondering I'm posting this from my Linux box, just to quell any potential questions about that.)

My rig is good. I don't crash on any other game and I don't crash on CoH if I'm not doing Incarnate content. We also know there's a whole bunch of stability patches that have been delivered... but they haven't worked.

Whatever else you can say about the "end game" it'd be nice to play it through for an evening without crashing - and crashing badly.

CoH: Freedom really needs to address this because people are gonna return and once they resurrect their 50s will be VERY disappointed and the whole point of Freedom will get wasted.

Not sure if this is genuine... but it potentially could be and you'd usually trust NS.

Sounds like DXP weekend could be... interesting
  24. Nope.

If I had to do something like that to get cool stuff I'd probably just quit playing.
  25. Damz yuuuuuuuuuuu That means I'm gonna have to come over to Onion!
