  1. I completely approve of this idea. In reality it's not going to get anyone to re-sub but it will get people logging in to claim their freebie and if somebody is thinking of unsubbing, it'll give them a reason to keep their sub going, especially if they loved last weeks freebie!

    Good stuff Paragon!
  2. Kate Beckinsale for Noxious Nocturn...

    Kevin Spacey as Riffster

    Ralph Fiennes as Bombardier Beetle

and Kate Winslett for Scarlet Shocker

It gets spammed because it is amazingly effective. Made moreso by a good tank... just because some players don't understand its value doesn't mean it doesn't do much

Hey sorry for a late appearance last night. I've found that life's rather gotten ahead of me this last week or so... but it seems we were pretty shy of numbers last night anyhow.

I should be far better placed to run next week and I'll set my alarm too!
  6. There are a number of specialist outlets in my area (Midlands) that do a thriving trade in comics.

The fact they are not often seen in non-specialist outlets is mostly down to distribution deals etc, so far as I understand it. Many of the bigger outlets (such as WH Smiths etc) want to screw the distributors to the wall to get the best price, which reduces their profitability.

In turn the distributor - mostly Diamond IIRC - tends to want like the independent retailer because they can then encourage them to take more stock etc.

So I'd suggest that not finding them in general outlets is not necessarily the best metric with which to measure popularity.

    Debatable!

I don't get their entire T9 strategy. It seems to cause the maximum amount of upset possible - as if they are trying to piss the punters off deliberately.

The whole point of exclusive items are to be an incentive but as things stand, T9 seems to be dauntingly distant for new players with limited funds so it fails at that level.

It also fails to work for a lot of existing Vet players because it's not so exclusive ackshully.

It even fails because of the rotation policy - doubly so for those on the cusp of getting to T9... imagine how you'd feel when you know in a couple of months time you'll have the T9 points for the Celestial armour because you love it but the other set you don't love is going to replace it...

The current policy seems to really hurt the casual player with limited resources and time and that seems to be a shame and also a self-inflicted wound - because those are the people Paragon really need to keep on board to stay healthy.

For me it doesn't matter because I've got the rewards already but I can see how many would find the whole T9 thing pretty broken.

    Here's my suggested fix:

    1. Do not remove items from the T9 pool. Add to them. It might mean there's a little bit of a cycling mechanic needed in the UI but that's peanuts compared to the benefits. Let the PAYING CUSTOMER choose the reward they want!
    2. Offer those T9 rewards to those who wish to obtain them by another means but make it very clear how this is intended to work before the customer has to choose, and then stick to it. This may mean that Exclusive items are time limited for the T9s - so maybe you get it for up to a year but it does have some exclusivity.
The current marketing speak of "This item will be removed but may be available at some undefined point and obtained by some arcane and as yet unrevealed method" is horse dung and typical of the lax marketing that goes on around here.
  8. my limited experience with the new invasion is a very meh - there's no challenge once level shifted and it everything dies so quick it's just a few minutes of monotony.

I used to love the raids - but these really need some more work to even begin to be exciting.

This sums it up for me perfectly.
  9. I don't like either of them. Good artwork in itself but where are the options for villains or praetorians?

Also I'm not quite sure why Shadowhunter and Penelope Yin are the featured people here. There are plenty of other more interesting signature characters - or are there plans to feature them at different times?

The point of any mass media communication medium is to, wait for it, .... get people using it. If more people use it to exchange cookie recipes or talk about their latest RP session on Virtue, great. It's being used. Every use is a win for Paragon Studios. We should be finding MORE ways to community-build, not trying to put limits on what we already have. Limits force more people to stop using it, and overrides any benefit from concentrating the message.
#CityofHeroesAnnouncement The forums are undergoing regular maintenance and will be down between 2 &7pm but stay tuned for some special events from our regular feed
  11. There's a convincing argument that Paragon need two twitter feeds: Status and News... status can be updates and server info etc whilst news can be the general news feed. That allows everyone to follow the feed they want without there being an issue

Also Samuel Tow, congrats on getting your Curmudgeon to T4 on its Grumpy Slot

Hehe Robo dont' sweat it. We didn't progress hugely last week - a few levels but nothing like the previous couple of weeks. We're still in First Ward so as long as you're 20+ you'll be fine

Now you may have noticed it's officially a hover widow and seems to be able to offer a very nice sneak attack with a nice ability to blap too.

Mind Link seems to be reasonably quick to recharge seems to be under 75 secs with a 90 sec duration so I figure that's perma enough - if I'm reading that part right.

I've yet to complete the build - but even with mostly SOs so far this seems a lot better than what I'd got previously!

Incidentally I am probably heading the Agility Radial route for Alpha Slot

    I'd welcome comments
  21. I've very limited experience of BR, but how would a BR/MM perform?

I don't even own BR so this isn't a test I couldn't perform myself.

ok what's cool about BR? I've tried it to about lvl 20 but that's it. It seemed to be a pretty underperfoming set then

My understanding is that Ice/ is the best ST damage and Fire is largely AoE...

my Ice/En does certainly kick proverbial and both sets do seem to have both ST and AoE attacks.
  24. So far it looks like there's an argument about whether Fire is better than Archery as a primary with MM as a secondary

I've never played a fire blaster (in fact I've not played much fire anything except for a Fire/TA troller) and I've only got one Archery toon an All-Arrows Crupper (which I really don't much enjoy at around level 28)

So... let's see if we can narrow this down a bit. Which variant would be better in the following Scenarios:

    1. Taking down a Rikti Pylon
    2. Soloing the ITF
    3. 3 Man Statesman TF (for the sake of argument you've got a TW/Willpower brute & Earth/Thermal controller along for the ride)
    4. Soloin the DA arc on +2 x4 (or more)
Incidentally I know a couple of you have said you cannot "ultimate" anything - I tend to agree, there's usually half a dozen ways to spin any particular scenario but sometiems there's a consensus.
