    Stealth Kill

I was a lil lost on what was going on, primarily because I read it as if she was about to stab herself with a sword. D: I commend you for taking on a hard to draw angle, it's definitely a tough one. I think there's one very simple thing you could have done to really keep the focus on the character. Desaturate the background and foreground. You also want to watch the spacing inbetween your buildings in the back. It's really funny that the human subconscious wants to keep everything evenly spaced, for me, it's one of my biggest issues, I like symmetry a bit too much :P

Non-paying work that eventually "may" get published and distributed is pretty much lawyer material and a hard sell to artists.
I would draw up a contract for your own and your freelance help's own protection.

Ive done the "in good faith" and "for good karma" thing several times and gotten burned, bad - i.e. doing work and getting no kill-fee for your time if the project goes belly up or having your e-mails and calls ignored if sales become brisk.

You likewise can get taken to the cleaners if you do end up publishing it with no contract when the artist comes after you for back-royalties.

Not to bust your crank or anything, but a lot of us have been there, done that and bought the t-shirt with writer/publishers in training who act like thier doing you a favor by offering you a non-paying gig - save yourself the headache and either draw up a contract or god-forbid; pay an artist for his/her time.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    This.

Also, while we may not KNOW who these artists that you mention, dissing them publicly, even without naming them, gives a very non-professional vibe to artists that may have an inkling towards doing non-pay projects. I would have stated something more along the lines of: "While I've worked with artists in the past, things didn't work out as planned."

A lot of artists and writer duos need to have a good vibe going on. It's a team effort. I just finished up a professional non-pay job on a five page story because I really dug what the writer was doing, and he and I worked very well together. The same can be said for working with Arcana Comics back in Spring of this year, I had two very awesome people backing me up, and it made my life as an artist easier because not only did I believe in the project, but I had people who put faith in me to do a good job.

Right now, you're giving off a very frustrated, "I don't play well with others" vibe, and it's off-putting. Remember that if these two artists did work for you FOR FREE, that it's a gift, and regardless of how you parted ways, if a person puts in the time to help someone out without pay, then you need to be a bit more humble. That, my friend, is how you will find an artist that will work well with you.
  4. Hey Juggy, looking good. Two things?

I'd actually make the dude that looks like he's choking even bigger, pull him all the way into the foreground to give the picture even more depth, a stronger composition, and I think, more of an emotional impact. Second, I think in your sketch stage, the silhouette was better inbetween the the wrapped figure's legs, so I'd lose the huge chunk of bandage/wrapping coming off and go back to the smaller one.

    http://www.icefox-studios.net/for_juggy.jpg

Other than that Juggy, looks good. The choking dude in the front is my fave. Go figure :P

P.S. I just noticed the background guy with the dagger that's poking into the wrapped figure's thigh. I'd just turn the blade up so it doesn't hit him, since it's creating a tangent area right there.
  5. Kinkei's stuff is always a treat to see. Thanks for sharing.

    Feedback?

The problem I see with the face is that the face is going to one angle and the rest is going towards another. I definitely dig the way you did the wings, the blades, and the auras around them. I think to make the piece more solid, I'd actually get rid of the back arm entirely as it would make for a much more solid silhouette. Your forearm on the front arm is a bit too long, and the hand is lacking structure. That said, I also wanted to ask if this is a photo manipulation attempt like your DA gallery, or if you're attempting to strike out on your own?
  7. If it was aimed more towards season 2? I'd definitely change the text. He was happily munching on brains by then, without any remorse whatsoever.
  8. I'll bite. I love Sylar. I don't think it's quite him, facially, but close. The hand in the background is awesome, but I'm no sure about the Forgive Me part. He didn't want to be forgiven because he felt what he was doing was/is right. He wanted acceptance from his mother and his mother alone to stop the violence. If any quote would be in the background it should be more along the lines of, "Can't you accept me for who I am?" or "Am I special now?"

I think that you are doing the right thing by being here, being present and answering questions, just be aware that there's a lot of hard feelings that aren't so easily glossed over.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Those people with hard feelings should contact Jomaro and work out a solution or request a refund. Otherwise I don't see many hard feelings around here, amazingly enough the exact opposite. The bottom line is either you choose not to patronize MMOART.com or you do.

Some may want a long detailed explanation of what happened, but if you really get right down to it, the only thing that matters is receiving the artwork or a refund.

Both of which should be arranged in private contact with Jomaro and not bantered about on this forum.

Now then...on with the ARTWORK! YAY!

    [/ QUOTE ]

I just want to specify that my post was not intended as an attack, nor as a commentary on my own personal feelings on Gill's return, but in response to the feelings of those in the Satisfaction thread and elsewhere. It was to address any negativity that may might still be floating around. Anyways, back to the art...

Thank you very much Techno. I have said it to many if not all of my clients via private correspondence but I will say it here as well. Thank You all for your patience and sticking with me through the trying times. I will put every iota of skill and creativity that I can muster into your commissions.

Scarf I started this post with the intention of it being about my recent works and I would really like it to stay on track. So I’m asking that you please respect that. If this is something that you feel requires more attention you could always take it up with poster A in a PM perhaps.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well Gill, you were gone for a long time. Radio silence for that long is going to make a lot of people react in different ways, and people will undoubtedly assume things about why you left (mind you, folks shouldn't, but they will given enough time). You shouldn't expect to be welcomed back with open arms by the entire community, many of whom felt like you left them in the dust. You should read through the whole of the Satisfaction thread, if you haven't already.

I think that you are doing the right thing by being here, being present and answering questions, just be aware that there's a lot of hard feelings that aren't so easily glossed over. Again, it's good to see new artwork, and I'm glad that you're A. Not dead B. Not injured and C. That whatever happened in your private life has settled down (I had my own personal dealings last year that kept me away, so I understand what it's like).

So just keep on trucking, keep on posting artwork, and eventually things will calm down.
  11. I say this with great enthusiasm. GET A DA PAGE XD Really, these are very nice works, and I'm sure other folks would agree that having a DA page would be a good benefit to you
  12. Hey there Scarftastic. I'll redline this later today for ya. As always, I love your faces.

    MMO ART?

    [ QUOTE ]
I apologize if I offended anyone. I frequent other forums where critique, whether positive or negative, is encouraged over just saying something is nice, and I did not realize it was not appreciated here unless the artist asks for it. I will be careful to keep my observations to myself from now on.

    [/ QUOTE ]

As am I, since the art forums I frequent we hash up people's pieces with redlines galore. No worries

    MMO ART?

    [ QUOTE ]
I love those new sketches, especially Axe Jack. If I may make a suggestion, if the intention is to have a very low camera angle as I am guessing from the low skyline in the background, I think it will even look sweeter to have the character conform to the same perspective. It doesn't have to be something drastic, but could be as little as small details such as the horizontal contours of the torso curving up and down instead of straight across or slightly down and up. I am looking forward to seeing how these turn out.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Alt's not the artist, Lousy. But you could always email Jomaro. Seeing as these are all commissioned pieces, I don't think they're really open to critique.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
About that - you are unable to see any pieces listed as mature or adult unless you've registered, listed your age, and consented to the DA rules. I'm not so sure that being able to see stuff there when you're registered and of age is the way to judge that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, I'm constantly reporting underage nudity, underage users, underage everything... and you can only imagine what I find in their favorites, and a lot of them don't have the mature content warning that they should have... Policies and rules really don't mean much on DA.
  16. Somewhere out there Scarf... someone's marketing that idea.

"See we put cartoon character FACES on the ends of the hotdog and it makes them easier to eat!"

    My mind weeps.

Lucky! I'm in the need majorly for a new tablet :/ Mine is totally givin up the ghost...
  18. Ahhh... exiting the womb anniversary again? Have a great day Dark!
  19. The cards are indeed blank Marvel Masterpiece II artist sketch cards and so basically someone would pay X sum of money and then say "I want Jean Grey going postal!" And then I'd go to town on the blanks. The finished piece is approved by Marvel as a licensed product and then shipped to the commissioner So Rowr, you could ask for a sexy Tigra pinup and that's what you'd get.

They do, however, have to be official Marvel characters. I can't draw CoX folks on them.
  20. Hey guys!

Just to let you all know, Artist Proof Cards for Marvel Masterpieces II are now available! There are only TEN cards available, so if you'd like to have an original licensed piece of Marvel Art by yours truly (or if you look in other artists journals, they should be getting theirs too!) please check out the journal below

Artist Proof Cards Up For Grabs!
  21. It's a great piece... I just feel like, I dunno... Maybe it's the traditionalist in me, I love his digital stuff but I love his watercolor stuff more...
  22. Well Seattle is good because I have folks I know up there, so I can call on local contacts for help. And I also have friends that go to that particular convention, as artists with tables.
  23. Hyper, hush, you'll see me at Comic Con :P Besides I dunno what ECCC is XD Or rather, where.

Phoenix isn't too far away Hericane, about a 6-8 hour drive, manageable if I get my beau to do the majority of the driving. I'll look into it I know I'm looking at going to Wondercon and APE next year.

    Satisfaction

    Um... just for clarification...

Gill's posted response on his website is that he lost all his customer's emails and will be getting back to them shortly because his email database was "lost." I put quotes because I'm not sure if it was corrupted, the computer broke, etc...

So he had no one's emails.

Now he's sent out a mass email of everyone on his list or just the people that contacted him?
  25. Thankfully there's some very happy things that allow transit at Comic Con to be easy peasy... Staying at a hotel that's on the shuttle line for Comic Con is one. You can also ride the shuttles for free from any of the hotels and they run late into the night. So even if you're not at a hotel that supports the shuttle line (which is nearly impossible in downtown, everyone's on the line) then it's usually only a block away from a shuttle point. So renting a car is basically moot point if you fly in

    All hail mass transit!
