Feedback?

Hey all, this is my first actual post here in the Fan Art forum, so... yay!

Now... I've been working in a piece based on my Bleach-themed DB tank, Tsuin Hyouchuu. I'm looking for some feedback from people that know what they are talking about, both in regards to art and CoH, so this seemed like a good place to ask for it.

So... what do you all think? Am I finished (I tend to nit pick my own work much longer than is healthy)? Are there areas that really need to be improved or just don't work? Any feedback you all can provide would be great. Thanks!

Damn, where have you been and why don't you have a DA page so I can fave it and watch you? Your lighting is very good. You have a good handle on anatomy too. I notice minor things... squish the back of his shoulder in, push his head and neck back a tiny bit move his eye forward a tiny bit.

They are all so minor though that I am not sure if those suggestions are right, but they are what I would do. The biggest problem I see is that you don't have a DeviantArt page.

Heh, actually, I do have a deviantart page, I've just not done much with it thusfar. In fact, the only things I have there are photomanips, and I'm only proud of 1.5 of the 3 there, but... here's the link anyway

Oh, and I guess I might as well go all out here... I'm actually a prospective 3D artist, so of course I have a portfolio page... here it is

I agree with the shoulder and head/neck move. I am unsure about the eye, because it's seated properly over the cheekbone. I think it actually might be the nose, which should be 3/4 view instead of profile. If we can see part of the other eye socket over the ridge, and around the "bow" part of the bottom of his lip, we shouldn't be seeing a profile of his nose.

That is HIGHLY nitpicky, though, because really unless you LOOK CLOSE, you don't see it.

This is BEAUTIFUL.

Interesting point, I hadn't quite noticed until you pointed it out. I've always had an issue with shifting the perspective on a given model. Should be simple enough to tweak, thanks!

Glad you all like it

Wow, nice texture! I like how you rendered different surfaces. And that effect on the swords is very cool.

I am no expert, but here are some areas I think could be improved:

-The lower back part of the ribcage seems to be sticking out too much.

-Maybe his butt should be higher? His waist seems too long.

-His right arm has sharp details and very clearly defined edges, more so than the left arm. It is the opposite of how the wings are treated where the right wing almost blends into the background. I think depth information is a little confusing when looking at both arms.

-I am not sure about the placement of his right arm. I am trying to guess where his right shoulder is and want to say it might be too low, but maybe it has to do with the shoulder/neck issue others have mentioned.

Ok, I was just being picky as usual. I checked out your DA gallery and portfolio, and they are very impressive. Looking forward to seeing more!

The problem I see with the face is that the face is going to one angle and the rest is going towards another. I definitely dig the way you did the wings, the blades, and the auras around them. I think to make the piece more solid, I'd actually get rid of the back arm entirely as it would make for a much more solid silhouette. Your forearm on the front arm is a bit too long, and the hand is lacking structure. That said, I also wanted to ask if this is a photo manipulation attempt like your DA gallery, or if you're attempting to strike out on your own?

Is solid feedback.

I fully agree about removing the right arm, in addition to adjusting his hairline, wings and jaw.
Id also lower the height of his scapula; it draws my attention immediately from the focus' of the work.

I hope my observations are of some use to you.

Great feedback everyone, lots to take into account. It'll be a couple of days before I have a chance to implement some of these changes, but I'll post an update soon.

Oh, and this is a from-scratch image, I actually prefer to stay away from photomanips (it just so happens that's all I ever posted to Deviant Art).
