  1. Rerolled into dark/shield cause I'm so easy to influence.

    So far = so good.
  2. [ QUOTE ]
    It's called a reroll.

Further explanation: Devs have already said it won't ever happen. And just because you know how to work an Illusion controller doesn't mean you can work a Fire or Earth controller.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I'd call it a retroll.

    *cough*
  3. I'm not a number cruncher here but, the first thing that comes to mind:

+DEF = Mobs have a harder time hitting you.

-ToHit = Mobs have a harder time hitting everybody.

    That would be my conclusion.
  4. So what would you guys suggest I take with DM to become a PVE killing machine?
  5. Oooook, I was under the impression that ElA was the next best thing after toilet paper.
  6. Would have it helped if I used the name Randall instead?
  7. He's in anime too? I thought that the Devil May Cry and shin Megami Tensei series were enough.

Well, it will at least give us something else to look at besides the Sephiroth fanboys
  8. There will be so many Dante clones/ripoffs out there, it won't even be funny.

    Need my fix

Fun times. My wife (been with her for 13 years) couldn't stand playing vgames until I put a DS in her hands and she promptly proceeded to beat the crap out of me at TetrisDS.

As for MMOs, she's been severly turned off by my EQ addiction. Winged_One's post reminds me of me around 2000-2001. Then came along WoW, to which I wasn't properly addicted but still ate a lot of time as I used to play with friends, leaving her to her TV shows. WoW is probably the single biggest time sink I have ever seen and it's not even a tenth of the fun CoH is.

Needless to say, my wife hated my MMOs.

Then she decided to try CoH. I still can't figure why, but she did. And now she likes it a lot. We play a regular group of 5 people, 2-3 nights a week for maybe 2 hours at a time, and randomly during week ends. She's really good at it. We always play in voice chat and she makes the most adorable brute/scrapper you can picture :-)
  10. Multiple enemies.

    Really.

    What?
  11. After a long night of missions, AE and regular alike, this character was bid farewell and sent to the recycle bin.

I'm in love with DM's fast pace but Energy Aura reminded me of a poor man's version of /ice armor, without the cool toys. And I -love- /ice armor. Just didn't cut it, I spent half my night running back from the hospital. It looks like /EA needs too much IO slotting before it can even become viable.

Or maybe I just suck. Who knows.

I'll restart as DM/ELA, make a really fast build, see how it goes.
  12. Hmmm, I've just read that 10 pages long SR vs EA topic that was closed a while ago. I think that everything I needed to know is there.

EA seems like it's the underdog but it has something I love: a +end +heal click. I'll go ahead and try that.

Hopefully, this won't be a short lived alt.

    Thanks guys!
  13. A simple question really. Energy Aura and Super Reflexes are both defense based sets. At a very fast fast glance (never tried either of them), the chief difference is a heal for Energy and a speed boost for Super Reflexes.

Yet, everywhere I read, people praise /SR without end and call /Energy Aura the worst brute secondary.

So how are they different, what makes one king and the other dirt? I'd like to try one of them with maybe Dark Melee. Might as well be informed!
  14. Ahhh... and here I was, ready to tell her "the forum experts have insured me that you have a 20% accuracy penalty when you SS in battle so turn it off or I'll boot you faster than you can run with that travel power on!"

    ...

I play with her every night and she's a really close friend, I wouldn't really boot her, but I would be making fun of her a lot :P
  15. Yesterday evening, I was playing with my friends and one of them, an AR blaster, kept fighting with super speed turned on. She kept insisting that her end bar could sustain it no problem. I know for a fact that it's entirely possible, my Sonic/MM blaster doesn't even have stamina and she doesn't ever run out of End.

However, I seem to recall somewhere that there was something about suppression or what have you, made it detrimental to use a travel power while fighting.

Have I been dreaming this or is there some truth behind this?

    Thanks.
  16. From the point of view of someone who doesn't crunch numbers at all:

My kat/invul scrapper is 45 and I specced though/weave out completely. I felt they did not bring much to my survivability and I did fine with dull pain alone. Since I took two powers from the leadership pool, though and weave were killing my end bar far too fast considering what little good they did.

I don't use aid self either mind you so, it may depend on what you want.

Have you considered the leadership pool at all? the +to hit and +dmg it brings to the table seems considerable to me and dead mobs don't do damage...
  17. It's true that my alts can quite efficiently serve this purpose. The first character I have ever created sits on her level 38. Just need to get her to 40 and all those possibilities open again.

I have been to Ouroboros. A bit.

I need to stop playing in the level 1-20 range...
  18. My Katana/Invul scrapper is a tank on a budget and she has amazing damage potential too.

And let's face it, /invul looks too good to pass.
  19. Hi guys.

My main character hit 45 yesterday. I've had her since CoH launched but I'm extremely slow to level, too many alts.

I just visited Firebase Zulu for the first time ever this morning and then it hit me: there is so much stuff I haven't seen yet... Now, with all the exp bonuses and patrol XP we get, I'm afraid I'll hit 50 way before I get to see all this content.

Here's a quick summary of what I have and haven't done with her:

-Spent lots of time in RWZ; just finished Serpent Drummer's ark.
-Barely scratched the surface of PI, I have done maybe three portal mission tops.
    -Haven't touched Cimerora yet.
    -Haven't touched Croatoa yet.
    -Haven't touched Firebase Zulu yet.
    -Haven't been in Eden, ever.
-Load of contacts in FF still active.

So my question is, when I get to 50, how many of those opportunities will close? How many of those contacts will tell me that I have outleveled them?

    They all look so yummy...
  20. Looks like Infinity is first on my list. Few people here already looking forward to play with us and it doesn't look deserted.
  21. Actually, Blackavaar, this topic has been a source of inspiration to me because that's exactly what my friends and I are going to do tonight. We'll each start a new hero on a server we have yet to choose and see where this go from there. We plan to focus on MA a lot with those characters.

If we like the server, we'll delete/abandon one or two of our low level alts on Freedom and remake theme there. We might even try a third server later on, well I should say fourth since our redside is on Guardian.

So yeah, I was easy to convince once I was brought good valid points. I still say it could have been done without the harsh finger pointing but hey, I can't blame the guys, it's really not uncommon to see people post on the forums just for the sake of whining, I guess I looked like I was initially doing that.

That and english isn't my first language so, happy are the linguistic misunderstandings :P

Soooo, what's a good and fun server to play on? I had a few suggestions by PM already but I'd love to hear what people have to say.
  22. I always considered it a symbolic gesture to talk to the city rep personally after protecting the time capsule. Getting my cape is kinda like a ceremony; who would want a ceremony done over cellphone?

But I do understand the logic and QoL involved in this idea.

I'm all for it. If I want my cape handed out to me in person, I can still walk even if there's the phone option.
  23. Your argumentation makes a lot of sense. Seeing it that way, I am inclined to agree with you, 100%. I saw the idea through my own eyes: the eyes of someone who would like a one time deal and never it crossed my mind to abuse the system. You are, however, painfully right, it WOULD be abused and create a chaos unheard of.

I will talk to my friends about starting characters elsewhere, or deleting our low level alts and re-creating them elsewhere. I am not against having characters spread out, as long as it's something planned with the people I play with.

Thanks for giving me a chance to explain myself and allowing this debate to continue.
  24. After re-reading my post, I realize I come out a bit harsh. Believe me, the last thing I want is to get on anyone's wrong side or to be categorized as a troll.

I'm opened to ideas and suggestions and yes, I'm quite aware that my original idea might be complete crap, that's why I submitted it to discussion.

And again, the only reason why my characters aren't all over the place is because I couldn't play with my RL friends. If I was alone, I would have no problem with that. I don't care for Freedom or any server in particular for that matter. I care about playing with nice people. The rest is optional.
  25. Forbin, wikked. Talk about assumptions...

My point was, if I want to play my blaster instead of my scrapper and my friend wants to play his tanker instead of his blaster and they're all spread out over different servers, we can't play together, unless there's some awesome cross-server device I have yet to hear of :P

No, I am definitely not among the people who cry doom when Freedom is full, I go play one of my villains on Guardian instead.

All my heroes are on Freedom, all my Villains are on Guardian. Whether I decide that I want my characters on the same server or spread out is a decision that regards me and myself. If you do not agree with my bulk transfer idea, I thank you for telling me and explaining me why, but how I choose to play my game is basically none of your business, as it's none of mine how you play yours.

There was no need to tag me with all those crazy conclusions, as far as I'm concerned, it's the first time we meet on the forums so you may be a bit bold to assume that much about someone you never met.

In the source topic, the idea seemed well received, that is why it ended up here, for discussion. If you don't agree with it, it's fine. If you think no one will agree with it, it's fine too. But if you feel the need to insult me, could you possibly take your posts somewhere else than in what I try to make a constructive and interesting debate?

Nothing personal, it's just a board. We got off on a bad start, nothing that can't be fixed.
