It is just that the lounge come back from the dead.

It needs at least a "Moment of Glory!"

    [/ QUOTE ]

    *audience groans*

Btw, EG, you have to change your loc now. The MoG fix is already upon us.
  2. *brushes off some dust*

I think it's time to reopen The Lounge again. Welcome back, my green and slightly less squishy friends!

It's your graphic card, you might want to take this to the tech forums.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I rezoned and it was back to normal, just thought it was funny *shrug*

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's still very likely a graphics card problem. I had the same thing happen about 6 months ago. It was infrequent at first, but the longer I did nothing, the worse and more frequent it became. I eventually had to RMA the entire card. (This is after doing the same with my PSU, since they insisted that was the problem...)
  4. Jock, I somehow missed this thread during its first incarnation. I'm getting to read these for the first time, and I must say, masterfully written. I do have one correction to make to your story...

    [ QUOTE ]
Scrapper had three sons, Dark, Essar, and Reg.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Where is the retelling of the [censored] child, Invuln? It is commonly overlooked now, and seemingly erased from the history books as well?
  5. Nice to see someone spreading the Invuln word. I have a few things I'd like to point out:

    [ QUOTE ]
    · Resist Physical Damage. (RPD)

    [/ QUOTE ]

For Brute/Scrappers, I'd advise putting the Steadfast in here. You have to take the power and, as you mention, slots don't improve it terribly. That one IO, however, makes a huge difference. It's almost like having a free unslottable TH.

    [ QUOTE ]
    · Resist Elements. (RE) This is a passive just like RPD (the very first power). It’s for Fire/Ice damage. It too, is a very small buff. Not worth taking early, if at all. (Most people opt to take Aid Other / Aid Self from the pools in place of the two Elemental and Energy passives. This is actually a pretty good idea. I don’t do it myself for concept reasons, but having a good heal on a 30 second timer would really help with down time…)

    [/ QUOTE ]

    1) It provides resistance to Toxic, as well.
    2) It's a 20 second timer, base.

    [ QUOTE ]
    · Unyielding. (UY) This is a toggle like TI. It gives resistance to all damage types. (Except for psy damage. Nothing in the Invuln power set gives protection of any kind to psy damage.)

    [/ QUOTE ]

    1) It may be worth noting its resistance boost to s/l is lower than the other types. (Specifically: half.)
    2) I may be being nit picky, but DP's +maxhp buff works like psuedo resistance to all, Psi included.

    [ QUOTE ]
    Good Powers to take.

    <snip>
TH Get it eventually. In the 30’s or 40’s. Add a slot for total of 2, all defense.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Personally, I really like TH. I'd never skip it or delay it or skimp on slotting it. It stacks very well with Invin and the Steadfast (an Invuln staple, imo).

[edit: One other thing. I know you don't go into pool powers, but since Stamina is such a staple power anyways... Slot Health. Invuln is good at mitigating damage as it comes in, but isn't as hot as recovering from them if DP is down. Health helps to bring your hp back up considerably.]
  6. Dang, Graver keeps working his magic. Excellent piece.
  7. Star Wars EpI: Duel of the Fates, I believe.

    Teh ROXORS!

    Alicynn is quite talented!

    But then I'm biased...

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Agreed, on all three counts.
  9. Congratulations!

Hmm, a lot of good ideas have already been thrown around, but I'll try to suggest a few:

Galadriel during her "test" to withstand the temptation of The Ring (her normal & 'corrupted' versions)

    Sam facing Shelob

Hmm... soo many memorable moments and characters, yet I'm drawing blanks. Go figure.

    making a video

Some people use Adobe Premiere, but it's very expensive and impractical for personal use. I've heard of "Vegas" being used, but I don't have any knowledge about that one.

Windows Movie Maker 2 is pretty decent, and comes with WinXP SP2.
  11. Sarrate

    New Graver Art!

I have a bias of my own, but several of Graver's latest pieces are simply amazing. Wings is definitely one of those pieces. Very detailed, but simple, while having a lot of emotion wrapped up in it. He's definitely a master of his craft.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
    Temp Invulnerability
    Toggle

Ah, TI. How I love thee. This power is one the main selling points of this set. It provides very good mitigation, and increases your survivability tenfold when it is active. Which is another point. NEVER DETOGGLE THIS POWER. I know a scrapper who actually skipped this power because he "didn't know what it did." He's also been playing for 3 years. As a point to him, I ran up to an AV with it de-toggled, and got dealt in with 4 hits. I rezzed, re-toggled it, and ended up tanking the AV.

    5 slots - 3 ResDmg, 2 EndRed

    [/ QUOTE ]

This may be me being picky, but as good as TI is, it isn't tenfold good. It'll let you take about 50% more damage by itself. With 1 slot RPD and 3 slotted Uny/TI, you can take ~90% more s/l damage.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
I don't agree with some of your slotting recommendations.
    - TI and UY do not need 2 endred. You are much better off slotting endred in your attacks and using those slots elsewhere.
    - I strongly recommend slotting Invincibility 3 def/3 tohit. The tohit buff is 2% per foe (up to 10) unenhanced. Slotted up its just over 3% per foe. Its quite noticeable.
    - Unstoppable doesn't need 3 dmgres. A single dmgres SO puts you over the cap with UY and the passives. The 2nd and 3rd slots are wasted. I go with 3 rechg/1 dmgres.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Those are my critiques as well.

    [ QUOTE ]
    - I'm partial to the Titanium Coating set. With only 3 slotted you get +1.5% hit points. I've got it slotted 4x on my build (TI, UY, unstoppable and tough).

    [/ QUOTE ]

IOs let you do a lot of things, so I don't think recommending any single IO set is that helpful. It depends on the bonuses the person is trying to stack. For my build, I like Impervium Armor (though it's dang expensive).
  14. Yeah, it was the "self nerf" comment that threw me off. I'm not aware of any "nerfs" applied by Stone Melee. Also, the 'tank aggro cap of +2s' made me think you were talking about armor as well.
  15. Uh, Kitsune, they're talking about /Ice Melee, not Ice/ Armor.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
On Topic: I've never played Ice Melee, and hate the concept of Tanks. That being said, I have to wonder if Ice Patch is the thing that's skewing the Dev's opinion of Ice Melee. No other set can cause everything in melee range to permanently flop around like fish. Which just so happens to include Bosses, unlike Stone Melee's Fault.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If I recall, Ice Patch only affects 5 targets, and it doesn't rotate through all of them like it used to. It picks 5 and sticks with only those 5 until something dies or walks off of it. (Someone who has actually used IP, correct me if I'm wrong.)

Also, Fault will knockdown bosses. It won't stun them, but it will knock them off their feet. In fact, Stone Mallet, Heavy Mallet and Tremor can knock them down as well. Also, SS can one shot hold a boss, and be perma if slotted that way.

Stone has a lot of control at its disposal... it just costs a lot more endurance.

Dude... when was the last time you hammered down two sausage, egg and cheese McGriddles and a coke?

It's so good goin down... but 20 minutes later you feel like you had ingested a 5th of drano with some shots of paint thinner.

When I was a kid I ate 22 pieces of bacon in one sitting. Tasted awesome going down, but man did I feel like crap for several hours after that. (I didn't puke or anything, though.) That taught me a bit of moderation is a good thing.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I had a Hardees Monster Thickburger (2/3lb burger, bacon, lots of cheese) last weekend with a large order of curly fries to boot. I felt groggy and sluggish for the entire day. Weighing in at 1420 calories (with nearly 1000 of those calories coming from fat), the burger is appropriately named. Of course, the burgers used in testing probably didn't have a gravy ladle's worth of mayo on them like mine did. Tack on another 500+ calories for the fries, and you have the makings for a bad day. I'm not a small guy (6'2"/215 lbs), but I'm not big enough to wolf down 2000 calories worth of grease and bread in twenty minutes without paying the price.

After eating that monstrosity, I decided that Wendy's Baconator belongs on the kids menu.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ooof! Just the thought of that makes me cringe, and I still have a few years of youth left in me. Now give me a dish of curry, rice, and naan bread? I'll eat an entire day's worth of calories in one sitting... of course, it isn't all grease.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I run.

    I run a lot.

Even if I would burn it off on a sunday morning run, I wouldn't even dream of eating some of the stuff these guys are talking about, even the thought of it just makes me shudder...

If they can recover from that... they must truly have dull pain, and I think they slotted their toxic resists.

    meh.......FRAPS

    [ QUOTE ]
I just wish there was a better resolution video capture other than FRAPS.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The quality at which FRAPS records things is very good, probably the best I've seen. (To be fair, I've only tried FRAPS and GameCam.) The big reason for quality degredation is:

    1) How you compress the video (the codecs, etc)
    2) Where you host the video. Sites like YouTube are notorious for making things look crappy.
