Really incredible! Amazingly professional looking. Kudos to you.

    Duo Lambda

I wouldn't have thought that possible. Kudos.
  3. I didn't see this thread before I started another, so for completeness' sake I'll add my suggestion to this thread: rather than an aura, I'd rather have the temp power give an invisible and meaningless buff. That way it'd show up in the buff bar, making it easy for teammates or leaguemates to see that you've got it.

  5. As anyone who has done a Lambda trial can attest to, rarely do all the temp powers that are collected get used. And when you ask the league, "People, please look in your list of temp powers for Acids or Grenades!" all you typically get in response is resounding silence punctuated by a few crickets.

So my proposal: give all mission-critical temp powers a meaningless buff aura, like an infinitesimal amount of regen or something. Now that the powers have a buff, they'll be visible in your teammates buff-bar displays. It'll be easier for people to tell at a glance if they have one of these powers in inventory, and perhaps more importantly it'll be easy for sharp-eyed teammates to see it and point it out to their unobservant cohorts as well.

This would completely end the mystery of temp powers collected but somehow never accounted for, and the best part is all it takes is editing a powers spreadsheet--no programming changes needed, since it's using existing game mechanics!

I'd like all mission-critical temps to be given a meaningless buff aura, like .0001 HP regen or something. That way they'd show up in the team buff-bars and you could go "Hey, xxMasterBlasterxx, I can see that you have an Acid that you haven't used!" Then you could spend the next 10 minutes trying to get the moron to look through his Temp powers.

Perhaps I've just been lucky. Every single Lambda run I've done, we have 1 or 2 people who get in the cutscene. We've never failed an objective because of it, and because I'm always so involved in the fighting leading up to that I've never even noticed them leave. So... /e shrug.

Either illiterate or almost pathologically shy. I've done Lambda probably 20 times or so. Out of all those runs, I think we used all the Acids maybe 2 or 3 times. It's mind boggling to think that such simple directions can't be followed.
  9. I'm not into farming nowadays, but I'd say if you're dead-set on a farm toon on a very limited budget it's still hard to beat a good ol' Fire/Kin controller. Get one set up in a mission against enemies that don't mez (like the old Battle Maiden mission) and you're good to go even on SOs.

I believe the main appeal of SS/Fire is in AE farms, since you can opt to go up against enemies that have all fire-based attacks, which you're strongest against. Or if you want to be able to get purple drops, get old Demon farm mission.

But like an earlier post said, if your main goal is to make inf, it's easiest via the market. It's also easy to run a few alignment missions a day, then earn a Hero or Villain Merit. You can use 2 of those to purchase expensive recipes and cash those in too.
  10. A contrarian opinion: do a Mind/Fire Dom. They can solo just about anything. Much higher damage than a Tank. If you grow fond of the character and want to invest in it, you can discover the friggin' awesome world of perma-Domination in which you suddenly become mez-proof.
  11. One of my most embarrassing moments was when I was on a full team of 8. We were in the high 30s and had a mission in the old Hollows. We exited our mission and were chatting idly while the team lead was grabbing the next mission. While we were at the door a lowbie team exited the same door. Suddenly a high level Nemesis ambush appears with all their lovely AoEs. They were targetting us, but of course flattened the lowbie team in about 5 seconds flat. The lowbies stayed there, since this was before they added a hospital to the Hollows, and I awkwardly go "Oops, sorry about that." in Local. I felt responsible for their deaths even though there was really nothing we could've reasonably done to avoid it.

You can build a fantastic Dom without purples. You don't need to achieve perma-Dom without Hasten after all. Also it's good to remember some purple sets are cheap, like sleep and confuse.

Of course, not all non-purples are cheap. Getting sets of Basilisk's Gaze and a few LotG recharges easily add up to several hundred million. But you don't have to get those off the market, either. You can get those recipes with Alignment Merits.

I don't think they'll go for 3 since you could more easily do AFK farming that way. But I would LOVE to see 2 auto-fire powers. That'd enable Practiced Brawler + Hasten, or Domination + Hasten.

This is the bottom line. NCSoft took a chance and increased their investment hugely to create GR. If the result had been significantly profitable, that would easily justify a future paid expansion. I don't think there was any sales spike, though.

My bet is that the CoH team will reposition GR internally to NCSoft management as a nice life extension for the game. While there was no sales spike, a case could be made that between GR and the Incarnate system the tech the new larger team has created has probably extended the game's life by a couple of years.

Of course the stun aura in dark armor does exactly the same thing, only moreso. Ice only slows attacks. A stunned enemy stops attacking entirely.

Sure. There are many, many players that prefer to spend hours grinding farms even when they're told repeatedly they could make more inf with less time invested via the market. For them, a guide that says "run your alignment missions, get your hero merit, cash it in for one of these specific recipes, list that recipe on the market, profit" would be a winner.

Sorry, but that stance is absurd. Arcanaville has proven time and time again to have a better grasp of game mechanics than most of the devs actually working on the game.

I work at a software company, and there are some customers we repeatedly include in secret early closed testing because they've proven to be extremely sophisticated and insightful. It doesn't mean we don't value our other customers, it just means that we acknowledge that not everyone has the same skill sets.

Treating everyone exactly the same sounds great until you actually want to get stuff done.

The ol' "teach a man to fish" route. I don't believe most players understand how easy it is to get Hero Merits, nor how to maximize their value.

I don't know if you've read the guides, but that is in fact exactly the way it's supposed to work.
  22. Is it unforgivably stupid to consider creating a petless Plant Dom? I currently have a Mind/Fire/Cold Dom that I absolutely love. I've got his Incarnate slots to where I'm happy with them so I'm looking for a new project. As I have only the one Dom, I'd like to try something new.

I think Plant is awesome but I admit that the pet creeps me out. Seriously. To the point where I won't take the power just because of how it looks. So I always just wrote off Plant as a set I'd never play. But then I thought about how I've run many a mission on my controllers without bringing out their pets due to being in high aggro environments.

    What do you all think?

I bet you're right. And that's even IF the devs agree it's a problem. For all we know, they're happy with XP being divided among teammates and have no plans to change it.

    Level 52 or 53?

They are still 50s, but level 54 mobs see them as -1 or -2 instead of -4 so 50+3s will hit more often, attack better, and survive longer than 50s.
Meh, see my previous comment about being overly pedantic. There's no confusion if I type "lvl 53 LF BAF" and it reads easier than "lvl 50+3".
