Quote:Look at it this way: You spent that money on items that you wanted and have enjoyed all that time. It won't be purchasable with paragon points until late this year - so what you paid for is access to that content ahead of time.Yeah I meant VIP thanks for the catch lol. I guess I just feel like I wasted money over the years for things that we can now purchase with points for having a sub. In no way am I trying to be greedy just want to see something I can benifit from with the points
In addition, now you wont have to use your free points to buy the Magic, Cyborg, Mutant, and the other packs. You'll have a bunch of points to spend on NEW costume pieces, so all of the future "booster packs" will basically be free for you. Someone who has never bought any of the boosters and who wants to pick them up with their free points is going to have a lot of catching up to do!
I don't think you need to worry: Once Freedom goes live, you will find that you are well rewarded for being a VIP, even more than you currently are as a subscriber. -

Quote:- Correction: If you intend to continue paying, you will always be a VIP. If you let your account lapse, you will become a Premium member.I've been around since launch and really don't post up too much on the forums but do browse and do my search fu for characters I might create. I love the game and have even kept up my sub even when I might be away working out of state. I have bought every booster pack out there (except party pack I think). I always get excited about new content coming out and wait like a little kid on christmas for the dl to come. I know that this is just a rough draft as to how things will come and I'm not trying to complain cuz either way I keep my sub regardless until there is no more game to play
I just hope that they come out with more than just what we are seeing here. Basically what I'm getting down to is that I will always have a premium account status because I'm that hooked on the game and its one of the only ones that I can play at home due to satelite internet. So as of right now I already have all the costume unlocks from the packs and I will receive one transfer token a month, access to signature stories, and new powersets too if I read correctly? All of this I am extremely excited for but I'm still trying to think of what my Paragon points will go to... The only things left for me to use my points on would be transfer tokens, respec tokens and character slots. With me being a long time vet respec tokens are taken care of and I can't really see me using alot of transfer tokens. Maybe a couple moves to the VIP just to check out the server itself. One thing that I saw that sparked my eye would be if we could unlock accolades account wide. I know it sounds greedy but doing the same thing for all of my characters is quite a grind for someone with altitis. Another suggestion i would like to bring up for costume unlocks that I would love is the costume codes you have raffled off like freakshow or carnival etc. To sum this long post up ( and I'm sorry its long). Basically I've been here for a while and put alot of money into the game but feel like I'm not really able to apply this new feature that is coming. I hope there is more to come with the paragon points system and as always I'll be a loyal customer
- Since you like booster packs (so do I!) you will probably spend your free paragon points on all of the new costume sets and auras that they will be releasing. In fact this new "hybrid" model (of allowing free players and encouraging them to upgrade) will allow them to release MORE new content than they have been able to in the past, meaning we can look forward to a lot more new costume sets! -
Quote:As a reminder, VIPs will not have to purchase content like power sets. We're going to continue to get this kind of new content for free. The only things you'll even have to *think* about spending extra cash on are the same things that we already spend extra cash on: costume pieces, auras, emotes. But since you'll be getting 400pp per month automatically, you'll be able to pick up a lot of the new releases for free.Powersets had better not be purchasable, that's taking things a bit too far.
It has been stated by the RedNames many times but it bears repeating: VIPs will continue to have access to everything that paid subscribers currently have access to, and will get more goodies on top of that. Nothing is being taken away, no extra burdens are being added, we're just getting more new free stuff.
Preems and Freeps on the other hand will possibly have to spend money to unlock power sets in the future. I haven't seen a RedName specifically say as much, but I wouldn't be surprised. Remember, they want becoming a VIP to be a no-brainer, so they're giving VIPs a whole bunch of goodies above and beyond the stuff that Freeps and Preems get. Freeps and Preems are gonna get a whole lot of content, but those of us who have been subscribed to the game for several years have become accustomed to an additional level of (non-essential) goodies. -
Quote:You can still apply time cards to your reoccurring account, it just pushes back the date of your renewal. I would suggest you use them, get that free time! If I had to guess I doubt they will let you trade in the cards but I honestly have no idea.I currently have three 60 day Time Cards, and one 30 day Game Card (the kind with the Jet Pack) that I got as gifts a while back, but have yet to use due to being on a recurring annual subscription.
Will I be able to trade these in for Paragon Points the way you could NCcoin back in the day (Example: 30 day Game Card cost $20 = 1600 Paragon Points or 60 day Time Card cost $30 = 2400 Paragon Points), or will I be required to use them to add time to my subscription? -
Yes exactly. And upon reflection, the Steampunk Pack came with something more like 33 pieces or more, since I forgot auras, weapons, and back details. Actually I keep randomly thinking of other pieces I forgot to count, so it may be in the range of 40 or more. Granted, other boosters may not have contained as many... ~14 in the cyborg pack? But even still if you want all the pieces, the bundles will cost less than a la cart.
Agreed, this works out well for everyone. -
I'm not using Freems because that's already a term that many people in RO use to refer to the Freedom server. As in, "Freem ITF forming."
I'm going with a suggestion I saw elsewhere: Freeps, Preems, and VIPs or Veeps. -
The monthly subscription of a VIP automatically unlocks controllers and MMs. That is, a VIP does not have to spend any additional money above their subscription to play those ATs.

Quote:Just to clarify, that's all of the female and all of the male/huge costume pieces from the Magic Pack, right?Hello everyone!
400........$5.00......................Complete Magic Costume Set (from the Magic Pack)
Quote:Interesting. This says, to me, that I am now paying $10/month for my VIP Sub, and $5/month for 400 PP. I think that's a pretty good way to look at it.
Since one of the items Ghost Falcon listed was $5/400PP for the entire Magic Pack costume set, I think it's a fair bet that future costume sets will be available for bundled purchase. Given that individual costume pieces seem to be priced anywhere from $0.25 to $1.25, and given that, for instance, the Steampunk Booster came with more than 27 different costume pieces (off the top of my head, not including duplicates between male/huge), the bundle is an excellent deal. -
Part of the problem is that a lot of people are asking the same questions over and over. The Devs are answering the ones that they feel are the most important, and are causing the most stress. If people are continuing to ask questions that have already been answered, that means that question has obviously not been answered enough times. Even some of your own questions have already been answered, if only you had camped the Dev and Community digests and been present for every one of the USTREAM feeds. Not that I'm blaming you for NOT being there, but the point is, a lot of people have obviously missed the answers to some very common questions. So the Devs keep answering those questions until people stop asking them. Making sure everyone is clear on how global character tokens work is currently more important than answering what happens to toons in SGs. The answers to those questions will come, eventually - we have plenty of time before Freedom comes out.
-
Quote:Some of your questions have been answered either on the forums or in USTREAM. I have answered those below:Still, many people have legitimate questions that just aren't being answered. What is the point of having a question/answer period if they don't give any answers.
Quote:You will be revamping Atlas Park/Mercy Island with the new issue, will the older starting arcs be available through Oroborus? Same applies to the older tutorials (Breakout/Outbreak).
Quote:Also, as a badge collector, what will happen to the veteran reward badges?
Quote:I understand Master minds/Controllers and epic ATs are restricted from Free and Premium accounts, what if I purchased City of Villans specifically for Mastermind at launch will I lose access to that character (playtime 1 year on and off since beta)
1. Pay to unlock the AT
[previous part two redacted]
I had to go back and re-read Posi's post. I'm still adjusting to the new terminology, so I got confused with paragon points and reward tokens. Posi said:
"Zwill said that you can choose to unlock MM and Controllers with your Paragon Reward tokens. This is INCORRECT. MM and Controllers are automatically unlocked when you have accumulated enough Paragon Reward Tokens (for existing veterans it's around 3 years). You don't even need to spend these Reward tokens to get the unlock. Of course, you can always unlock them early by buying them on the Paragon Market."
2. So I'm still not entirely sure how it works, but the point remains that if you've been subscribed for fewer than three years and drop to a Preem account, you will probably have to unlock the ATs.
Quote:For premium players that are in a Super Group and decide to go to the free to play mode.. Will they still be in the Super Group or be kicked out once they switch to the F2P?
Quote:So what's going to happen with expired trial accounts that haven't been upgraded in however long? Given there are always people asking about the name wipe and it hasn't been run in quite some time, wouldn't it be a good idea to do so *before* you (hopefully) draw in freebie people?
Quote:If I were to play premium with an Incarnate character, would I still have access to the incarnate powers and abilities I've already earned, or would those specific powers be locked out until I renewed my VIP membership?
Quote:Will New Issues cost points in the future to unlock? And Will Vet rewards that we have now CONTINUE to be available to all new toons we create in the future, or will we have to use points to unlock them under the new system? -
Quote:THIS exactly. (Edit: Oh and violations of personal liberty. The government will do whatever it wants anyway, but I'm certainly not going to give them PERMISSION to collect my personal information; they'll have to continue to do that illegally.)The EULA for Facebook is onerous to say the least, and their reputation for security and particularly privacy breaches is hideous. Most people I know who know anything about computer security or intellectual property rights refuse to have accounts; I'd certainly never sign away my rights like that.
Though I certainly don't begrudge Paragon Studios using every avenue available to reach people. I think they need to use MORE avenues. After all it's not like they're not answering our questions here too. There has been a lot of redname activity trying to answer as many questions as possible.
But as far as these Facebook Friday Q&As, I'll be waiting for the re-post here, assuming there is one. -
The calendar has been updated and can be found here: coloden.com/city
5/1/11: Added April 2011 Halloween event for server downtime, April Fool 2011: No More XP, NC Launcher release date, i20 release date & notable features, 2011 Praetorian Invasion, Steampunk Booster Pack, 2011 Anniversary Event.
I am also in the process of updating/combining the two Incarnate Ability PDFs, but I don't have an ETA. -
I would GO BUY A SECOND MONITOR if I could move my whole GUI into a second one and have a clear window to play the game in.
Seriously. Want SO MUCH. -
I call my exfoliating sponge a Poof as well. I was born and raised in Florida, so I don't think that's British*.Though I also like (who did this commercial? Lever 2000?) "Lather Thingie".
*Then again, my mother and I are both Anglophiles, and there are a lot of things that I say that other Americans ask me "What?!"
Like String Trimmer. That IS the official name for it, you know. But most Americans call it a Weed Whacker. -
Quote:I am not sure, but I think if someone just tries to log into your account over and over, it will lock you out. Which is why your login name is supposed to be something that you don't use for anything else (shouldn't be your forum handle, global, email, etc.) Again I could be wrong, but I think you can be locked out in this way, even if they never actually make it past the password screen.I don't know about Aion, but there is (or at least was) a server side vulnerability in CoH. I had my account disabled for a few days a while back because I was told it got hacked... despite having no spyware / keyloggers (at least not unless there's one that's undetectable by multiple virus / spyware scanners) on my system and my never having visited a RMT website, answered a phishing email, or shared my account information. Several other people reported similar problems on the boards around the same time.

Quote:I just wanted to reply because I've done a similar image (to debunk the "backwards facing knees" comment people tend to make, and yes I know some people are using the term just because it's easier, but it's still wrong. And yes I also know that Horse's wrists are actually called knees, but that doesn't mean they're anything like human knees.) But anyway, on to the image!
"You'z bes' to be gettin' away from mes wit' that magick marker!"
All tetrapods have the same skeletal base, with certain bones compressed or elongated depending on species. But from bats to dogs to even whales (though whales have lost nearly all of the bones in their rear extremities), we're all built on largely the same floor plan.
As for the animal pack.. I've scaled up the head to max sliders on every one I've used so far, which I'm used to doing on monstrous heads, and even some human-heads on which I'm using gas masks as animal snouts. There are always going to be limitations to the game, whether it's "We can't do that" or "we just didn't have time" or whatever. Of course I'd always love to see more options, more more more! - But I'm pretty happy with what we've gotten so far.
Here's hoping for Animal Pack #2: Ursine, Rodent, and Equine! ;] -
Quote:I uninstalled it and reinstalled and it went fine this time. Weird! Is anyone else getting this error? I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, and yes, I right-clicked and ran as administrator.

Quote:Windows Security Essentials. What virus scanner or other malware protection software do you have running?
On my other, Windows XP drive, I have about a half dozen pieces of software, but on Windows7 I just have the free WSE. I am going to try to remember to uninstall and retry the installation tonight. -
Yep, my sentiments exactly. I very much dislike PvP and only ever venture into PvP zones to complete non-PvP content (Shivan runs, nukes, etc). I am very happy that I am never actually forced into PvP, and I hope it will stay that way. (I can't actually imagine Paragon Studios would ever change that aspect.)

Crazy1van - OOPS! Good catch, thanks! I'll update that shortly.. *nervous chuckle*
Edit: Update complete. I guess you can tell which cells I copied/pasted ;] -
The calendar has once again been updated, for those keeping track!

Confirmed: other players are getting double XP, and switching to another toon awards double XP. Perhaps it is just the synapse TF?
