All sarcasm aside that is probably about 75% true. I've read a lot of complaints about people teaming with shield scrappers.

Also for the majority of the content this game has to offer you don't need that much knockback protection.

That is a good build, the only thing I'd change would be swapping the slotting in Blazing Arrow and Snap Shot.

Superior Enhancement set bonuses exemplar down to L5 so you don't need to worry about losing those set bonuses.

Especially when you could split the difference and just get a high level def/end from another set and about accomplish the same thing. Unless that's one of the oddly cheap HOs...
Influence aside the only other reason not to use the HO is if you were going for set bonuses. Influence is so easy to come by in this game that once you spend an hour reading the how to's in the market section you can have at least 100 million influence in a week playing casually i.e. spending 15 mins a day buying and selling at went worths.

Whoops I guess I didn't upload the last revision, I had removed one slot from tough and moved it into rain of arrows. I guess you could put the Ragnarock proc in RoA but it seems useless considering just about everything is going to be annihilated by RoA and then moped up with FoA and EA.

Okay now you should stop while you're a head and go and do some reading about the PS proc. You would know that on average it gives .22 end/s so even if you're at the lower end of that average you'd still be right around the endurance recovery you'd be at just using a common end mod enhancement.

Again once you know what you're doing INF is not an issue in this game. Also I did more than just increase the recharge, the build I posted had better everything than the one previously posted.

I thought of that but the benefit of having Flash Freeze v.s. having Web Envelope is that while you're casting RoA the group of enemies, minus 1 or 2 that you missed, cannot attack you.
  4. I changed a few things in Gilia's build, starting with some slotting, one important thing I'll point out is slotting purple procs into powers, you generally want them in powers that recharge fast in order to have them fire off more often. So I slotted the Apoc set into Snap Shot.

You'd frankenslot Siphon Life instead of doing the pure Hamio approach, because you want a lot of additional recharge and you're willing to sacrifice some damage. You then want an attack chain that does decent DPS while spamming Siphon Life at some insane recharge rate, at least if you want to keep your hit points topped up instead of playing reactively, and I think keeping them topped would be a good idea. Most of your damage recovery will come from Siphon Life, and while regeneration is useful, I think it's of only secondary concern. Resistance and hit points are important, though, and more than in a traditional build if possible. I'd definitely push for those once the other must haves were in place.

I haven't planned one out, though, and I don't know if these initial ideas on how to do it would actually work out for the best in a real build. But that's how I'd at least start building one. Version 1, if you will.
Here is one I was toying with last night doesn't use the top chain but it does have decent recharge. You'll need Leandro's Mid's patch for this.

Short of slotting to reach the HP cap, I don't see a way to make a dark/shield more survivable.

Stacking s/l resistance seems like a futile effort. The amount you can get is very limited and won't make enough of a difference.
They do have good survivability but I like my characters to be able to survive a nuclear blast from Lord Recluse and Hamidon combined, okay that is an exaggeration but you get the idea. Stacking S/L resistance actually does have a large effect on your survivability, a 5 to 10% difference is noticeable.
  7. Has anyone ever built a dark/shield that focused more on survivability rather than raw dps? Almost like a paladin type character. I made a build for something like it, but its slightly disappointing, I was hoping for s/l resistance in the low 40s and passive regen around 300% but I can't seem to get it that high.

That is correct! Usually I just slot Grant Cover with an endurance reduction and call it a day.

  11. OMG this is heart breaking, I knew Sailor Rush in my brief stint in RO and he was an awesome guy. Wow My condolenses to his family...
  12. You are sacrificing way too much in the name of getting more recharge, you've completely underslotted health, stamina, tough, and true grit, and have over slotted grant cover. I'd seriously reconsider losing a lot of recharge in order to make your character much more sturdy. If AoE damage is your aim, I'd suggest making an Electric/Shield because Dark/Shield won't even come close. Also Positron has made mention that having Hamidon enhancements increasing defense by 33% is an accepted feature, the only thing you'd have to worry about using HOs is having Active Defense's DDR flagged as unenhanceable.
  13. Hey guys I am trying to help a friend out with a video competition, if he wins he will win a trip to las vegas and get to go to this huge car show called sema! Please up vote him on you tube and if he wins I will give 10 million influence to everyone who voted for him lol.

Also is regen the best secondary for PvP or can Shield defense or any other choice work as well. Any input or advice for a top power choice combo would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks,
Broad Sword/Regeneration is excellent for PvP.
  15. Tell your friend that a good scrapper doesn't need to debate, they let their actions speak for themselves.
  16. So I went through and made a build including fitness being an inherent rather than what i did before with just moving powers and slots around. I came up with a newer build, alittle more of everything even endurance consumption, a lot more of of endurance consumption. But I now have conserve power and dark consumption so I don't think I'm going to be having any endurance problems lol. Again if you don't have leandro's Mid's patch, do not open this. I uploaded it as a long forum post for those of you who don't, sorry to those who don't like them lol.

  17. Warning this is an experimental version of mid's using leandro's mid's change, I'd suggest not opening it if you do not have that version of it loaded on your computer

So I updated my build for I19, I'll be dropping Focused Accuracy, and picking up Assault, Conserve Power, One with the Shield or Taunt, and Tactics.

But when it comes to legacy art, there are of course items in the costume creator that are starting to show their age. We could hypothetically remake these assets with crisper, more detailed textures and modern shaders and do our best to maintain the 'flavor' and 'feel' of the originals, with the goal of giving you the same stuff, only better.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
but then there's a choice on how to deploy them, and that's where this very informal poll comes in: how would you, the players, want to approach this issue?

hypothetical option 1: old assets would be removed from the costume creator menu and you'd have the newer, updated ones instead.

pro: this raises the overall quality bar of the game by eliminating the oldest, least-attractive pieces; players look cooler; everything looks more consistent and modern. Less menu clutter.
con: change is scary; perhaps some players will prefer the old pieces?

hypothetical option 2: we leave the old version alone and put the new version immediately below it in the costume creator.

    pro: nothing is 'taken away.'
con: outmoded art remains, clashes progressively more with newer, modern assets. Menus swell with 2 options for each basic piece, making it harder to navigate.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

so you can see where i stand on this. personally, i'd like to see the game's art evolve, improve, and remain consistent, so i much prefer option 1. But as always, i'd be interested to hear what you guys think about this. Do me a favor and please keep your posts short and to the point.

    Possible grist for the mill:
--non-animated tails were left in costume creator when animated tails were added. Do any of you use the non-moving ones at this point?
    (option 1!!!!!!!!!)^∞
  19. Other than the small percentage under the ranged soft cap it looks great!
  20. Its a great combination actually, high defense, good resistances to smashing/lethal, and a self heal. Check out this thread, its in the scrapper section but it still has a lot of great knowledge for dark/shield builds.

Yep I'm on Vista, so that is probably why. I'll have to go home and see if it fixes it
  22. I can't get it to run, it keeps telling me that access is denide and I go to the file uncheck read only and then it reverts to read only.
  23. Yeah still can't get it to work
  24. Ugh this is going to be such a huge time sink for me lol. I know I'm picking up Assault for my build, but IDK what else... I need to get this patch working but it won't work for me
  25. No dice, I can't get it to work. It keeps giving me a break operation window.
