Its a great combination actually, high defense, good resistances to smashing/lethal, and a self heal. Check out this thread, its in the scrapper section but it still has a lot of great knowledge for dark/shield builds.

I was asking because I have not seen any guides or FAQ's for that.
It is a good combo, definitely, but it does fall into the 'scrapper does it better' camp. Scrappers get more benefit from Against All Odds. Single/low number of targets there won't really be a difference, but once Against all odds gets saturated there definitely is.
Weight training: Because you'll never hear someone lament "If only I were weaker, I could have saved them."
I think Dark melee and shield would be a good combo. Any thoughts?
