  1. So let's say you have a lvl 50 villain and you have Mako for your PPP. You create a second build and decide to go to another PPP. Can you do it and will it only affect the one build or both builds?
  2. I could've helped, but he is much faster on the forums.
    (I just saw this)
  3. A big welcome back to you!

I finally did get in after updating video drivers. Thanks all!

Now to find a suitable hero planner. Mids doesn't install on Win 7.

Ok, i am trying to get in...

    Maybe someone can help.

I have a new computer with windows 7 and after downloading the coh_updater and installing the patches (etc), all i get is the familiar "Duh Duh" music. No video. My card is supported. What is going on? Is it Win 7?

At least for a month. I am just checking out all the new things in COx.

While I was gone, my wife and I had a baby boy (named Noah) and lots of other cool things also took my time up.
  8. I originally wrote this back in Feb. Back then it did work and to this day I still run with multiple procs in attacks and even procs that damage in powers like Chilling Embrace, Taunt, and Energy Absorption.

I'll try to get some screenies of this next time I am on.

Here is my Complete Mentor Guide. Original Post date in May 2007?

    THE COMPLETE MENTOR

    Preface
So, you asked for a mentor, huh? Well, with Levels does not always come wisdom. So, before I sidekick you, please read over this basic Book of Mentoring. It should give you everything you need to know about the Mentor/Sidekick relationship.

    What is a Mentor?
Although most people consider a mentor someone of a minimum of level 10 and at least 3 levels higher than you, there is so much more to being a mentor. Sure, there is the mindless droning out of power-leveling where mentor and sidekick stay in a safe location and let a hero gather and beat the living daylights out of an entire maps worth of baddies. But why? Cheap and quick levels? This is where a true Mentor stands out.

A Mentor is defined as a wise and trusted counselor or teacher. A relationship will develop between the Mentor and Sidekick - albeit as a plutonic relationship where both want to play on the same team or a true Teacher relationship where the Mentor is showing the student play style, rules, places, situations, and/or general information before sending them out on their own.

Mentorship is not to be taken lightly. In an online game, you can still enjoy playing, but keep in mind that a new player will mimic their teacher in every way. The way you respond to others in chat, the use of emotes in distasteful ways, the ways to circumvent the flow of the game, and even how to disrupt public events like a costume contest or a Hami Raid.

Even in a team, if everyone is within the same level range of each other and no one is sidekicked, the Team Leader is looked at for all intensive purposes as a Team Mentor. The Leader should make sure that the integrity of the team stays intact. After all, it is he or she that selects the mission. They should also make sure that conflicts are resolved. I cannot tell you how many times I've witnessed a disgruntled Defender or Controller purposefully let a team member die because of a disagreement.

The Mentor also has a place in the Super Group. Each SG has levels assigned with different permissions. Power corrupts - absolute power corrupts absolutely! Giving power to the wrong person can spell disaster by getting every on a lower rank kicked from the SG or ticking off a more deserving person. The first example happened to a SG I was in. To this day, we do

not know for certain whom it was, but we do know two things...

    1) We went from having 75 members to less than 14 in a matter of 20 minutes.
    2) People who were kicked were extremely mad and most never returned figuring someone did not like them.

So being a Mentor is a serious job, but also much fun. Watching the chat window light up with amazement as they see something for the first time, or when you show the Sidekick how to handle situations are a couple of those high points.

    Choosing a Proper Sidekick
When you reach level 10, you are immediately ready to be a Mentor. Or are you? Because of the burden and responsibility, there are a couple of steps you need to take to prepare for your Sidekick. In addition, you also need guidance in selecting your Sidekick.

First, check out the makeup of the team. Look at the level range, type of missions, and most of all - personal feeling of the rest of the team. It will make a huge difference in selecting your sidekick and easing the team through the mission.

Level range is highly important when you combine it with mission selection. One example of this is running through a Task Force or Strike Force. The biggest waste of time is before the first mission is accepted. We all have experienced having a Member that was too low for the TF mission level range. Then you have to find a way around it, and then invite new people to

replace the impatient people who left. Take a few minutes to research what the team is going to do and what levels are acceptable.

The next step is to find out what perceived needs are desired in a team member. How many times have you started a Task Force and found out that you do need an Empath Defender instead of the Dark Defender you got? How many times have you started a Respec mission and found out that you do not have a single member with TP or Rez? A couple of minutes doing research will

save you countless hours in a hopeless cause and the result will be less debt and quicker levels.

Second, overall personalities of the team are important. You don't want conflict while the team is trying to complete a timed mission. Generally, a good rule of thumb is team with people you know. Those are the one's you will get along with and most of the time, they will get along with each other.

Pick-up Groups (PUGS) are especially vulnerable to the personality crisis. A mish-mash of attitude and a chaotic feeling can be both exhilarating and stressful. Make gentle a suggestion to the Team Leader to get the proper information on what they feel is the need of the team. Then help them look. Don't just entertain yourself. Remember, a successful mission comes from a successful team.

If you happen to be the leader, do not dismiss the suggestions of a player so easily. I was part of a PUG and the leader wanted to get another Empathy Defender. I reminded him that I had been through that exact mission 17 times in the last week and that we had enough Empathy, we only needed another blaster. Well, we got an Empath and we ended up with team wipes multiple times.

When it comes to choosing that Sidekick, keep in mind you need to select someone that trusts you. Even though a potential Sidekick has got a level 50 peacebringer, keep in mind that the toon they are playing, they may not have a lot of experience running. That is why I suggest mentoring a Sidekick of a compatible AT. There is a valid reason why also. With the mentor/Sidekick system, a Tanker sidekicked to a Defender would be a bad combo. What would happen if the Tanker is in Melee combat and the Defender has to get away from the action to Teleport a defeated Team Member for a Rez. That's right! The Tanker can lose his Sidkicked status and get into much bigger problems. There are multiple bad combos out there.

Once you have decided that taking a Sidekick is beneficial to the team and the Sidekick, and you have found a potential Sidekick, you then need to communicate with the Team and Sidekick. Make sure all parties are aware of the situation and agree that this is a good addition.

A good Sidekick will communicate with you, so make sure the candidate does so regularly. Some good tips for finding good candidates are looking right in your SG window. They typically will be on good behavior because they are representing the SG to the Team. A SGs reputation is often formed by the members of teams that SG members are on with. I know of several SGs on

the Protector server with the reputation of Power Leveling. This reputation has spilled over and the Protector server has a reputation as a Server of Power Levelers. The fact that you can find within the forum posts in the Protector threads many people that disdain the thought of power leveling, means nothing to people form other servers. Another example is the Role

Player server. Where did it get that reputation? You got it! From a few SG on that server having that reputation.

Also, your Sidekick and you do not have to constantly chat back and forth. A little less chat makes for an easier time by the Mentor to do the job he was brought on the team for. The questions and general Chit-chat can be saved for the downtime. Granted, friendly chatter goes on and sometimes in the middle of a battle. It is the discretion of the Mentor. A Sidekick

should not distract the Mentor and as such, the Mentor should take charge if the chat takes away from his abilities.

    Team Leaders & SG Leaders
Team Leaders generally have good intentions, but they have to watch out for the whole team. A good Team Leader will run missions from each person instead of his and a friends. As a whole, the other Team Members feel they are contributing even if they aren't in a battle standpoint. There might not be much XP in a mission that is 5 levels lower, but you still get to test

your build versus other baddies, or for viability. People will respec according to their current needs and forget that if they Sidekick to someone else, they may not be as suitable for that type of damage or they may help a friend and find out they no longer have the protection they desired from other types of villains that they once had.

So picking a variety of missions helps the overall feel of the team but also contribute to their general comfort levels in their Team Leader. A low morale towards the Team Leader means that the team members will change often and much of the time garner feeling about that player for many levels to come.

SG Leaders also suffer from morale issues. Sometimes an SG Leader will show apathy towards accomplishments. They can even have issues arise from overlooking certain members who are deserving of promoting. SG Leaders need to make sure they reward those that help the SG through recruiting, event organization, web-site programming, running teams, and being Mentors to other SG members. The Key is to recognize and reward beneficial people to the SG.

A bad SG Leader will not have a large following. Instead he will drive people away and into better SGs. A bad Team Leader will have a negative impact upon the reputation of his SG and that will negate recruiting of that person regardless of the SG Leadership.

Good qualities in Team and SG Leaders are the same as good qualities in people and business professionals. Honest, friendly, hard working and problem solving are the best attributes.

    What to give that Sidekick
This topic has a wide range of responses. You can best answer it by asking yourself what would have helped you be a better player if your Mentor was to give you something. Most would answer influence/infamy or enhancements. Although these are not entirely right, they do not allow someone to be a better player. They simply allow the player to do more of what they already do. Sometimes advice is the best gift you can give.

I personally save influence/infamy and enhancement gifts for Sidekicks that I see are trudging along in SG mode - helping the SG with Prestige. That is a good "Thank You!" for their hard work and dedication. It also builds good relationships in the Teams and SG. It also is infectious.

One of the hardest lessons you can teach your Sidekick is when to call off the Sidekick mentality. Too often, people get used to the idea that they can Sidekick to a Mentor and forget about gaming. This is referred to as Power Leveling. When that player gets to level 50, they will immediately create their Kheldian and start power leveling again. After that challenge, it is off to build another and another toon. They only have experience as a Sidekick and their only contribution is to Power Level other people. Your ability to teaching them to be that 'Hero' or 'Villain' is the most important moment of that toon's life and often reaches into their real life. Arguably, some of the best in-game players are some of the best real life people. Use that time to create a true Hero or Villain.

I recall a movie by the name of 'Unbreakable' with Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson. In it, Samuel L. Jackson's character states that he could not be the person he is without finding that one person that is to be his Arch-Nemesis in life. His opposite. Incidentally, the movie is about comic book heroes and I would recommend everyone to view it if you get the chance.

After all, when faced with a situation, it is the choice you make that will define you as an individual.

    General Tips

    - Remember that if you go down in battle and your sidekick is still there fighting, don't go to the hospital or base for rez. Your removal from the mission map will put your sidekick at risk of being defeated. Lend a hand by feeding inspirations to them or do some targeting for them. They might live and they might still be defeated, but at least you allowed them to be the hero for once.

    Conclusion
So there you have it. I'd love to hear your views and hear about how you used the nformation!

Here is my New Dawn of Tanking Guide. Original Post date in Feb 2008

    THE NEW DAWN OF TANKING

    Introduction
I have been playing an Ice Tank since just after the Hollows went live and have Tanked through non-stackable ice armors, mob-control reductions, ED (not erectile dysfunction – enhancement diversification), and now defense normalization.

Even though I am writing about Ice Tanks, this guide is more about how we are able to tank in a whole new way by using gauntlet and processes! I simply am providing this information to you. This information as far as I know has never been published in a guide. It is not known if it is working as intended or if it is a bug.

    Background
I initially discovered this information during the Halloween event in 2007. I was working on bettering my human only build peacebringer when I noticed I could slot up to 6 processes in an individual power. I created a guide called the “Processor PB – A Guide to a viable Human–only build”.

At that point, I started wondering about my other 50s and how this would work on them. Next, I slotted my Sith Lord and his numbers went through the roof. Lastly, I looked at Santa Laws. Ice/Ice and suffering. So I planned my build and tested at each step. This is a result of that testing.

    Gauntlet
Every tank has at his disposal a unique AT based power called Gauntlet. Basically, it is an agro magnet. When you attempt to hit a baddie with an attack, you bring notice to yourself by those surrounding him. Every attack power has this ability “attached” to it. Think of it as attack-taunt. This attack/taunt affects up to 5 baddies – just as taunt would.

    Processes
The second part of this new dawn is processes. These are IOs that give you a chance to do something extra. Because of the nature of Gauntlet, we have found with our testing that the effects can “bleed” through to other baddies affected by Gauntlet. How so? Here is an example:

Santa Laws hits LVL 50 Freakshow Smasher LT with Ice Sword 6 slotted (3 Nucleolus Exposure, Touch of Death: Chance for Neg Dam {71.8 DAM @ 15%}, Impeded Swiftness: Chance for Smash Dam {71.8 DAM @ 20%}, and Mako’s Bite: Chance for Lethal Dam {71.8 DAM @ 20%}). Ice sword is Moderate (Cold/Lethal) Damage. Ice sword gauntlet affects a 6 foot radius. There were 10 freakshow in the radius circle but because of limitations, only 5 are affected by gauntlet. Those 5 (1 primary + 4 extra) each gives you the chance to apply proc damage to them.

In this instance, each time I swing the Ice sword, I get one check to see if I hit the primary target. Then for each “hit” of gauntlet, I get 1 check on each proc. So with every swing, statistically, I should get 15 proc checks. Of those, 3 would give an additional 71.8 damage in Smashing from Impeded Swiftness, 3 would give an additional 71.8 damage in Lethal from Mako’s Bite, and 2 should give 71.8 additional damage in Negative from Touch of Death.

This “bleed” of damage is an answer to the Tank prayers.

    Conclusion
So there you have it. I'd love to hear your views and hear about how you used the information!

Here is my Processor PB Guide. Original Post date in November 2007

Santa Laws' Processor PB (Human Only) Guide (Issue 11)

    - Chapter 1: Why Another Guide? -

This is my fourth guide. Number one was a "Guide to Mentoring", number two was a guide to Ice Tanking (that quickly was removed as an even better guide came out right afterward), and the third as a "Guide to Sith Lords (AKA - Dark/Elec Def)".

I decided to write this guide because while researching Human Only builds, I discovered that even though there were a lot of interest in it, those people writing guides preferred Bi- or Tri-form builds. As such, their views were biased and only served to guide you away from such a build. I built my peacebringer from Level 1 up and I knew what I wanted to accomplish with it.

The concept was simple and I will share that starting the next chapter.

Currently, Angel of Legacy is level 50. When I started her, I wanted to take advantage of the Veteran Reward wings. Since I had my own SG, I also wanted to minimize time outside of SG Mode and therefore keep from having to upgrade enhancements all the time. The result was a Peacebringer that soloed 33 levels, she stayed in SG Mode until lvl 32 (she earned 200K prestige), never visited the hospital or suffered a defeat until level 24, was able to afford a full set of Invention Origin enhancements at lvl 37, and remains fun to play in PVE and PVP.

    - Chapter 2: Concept -

Knowing the strengths and weaknesses of Peacebringers is our first priority. Here they are:

: The Kheldian is a Team Player (in human form), Blaster (in Nova form), and Tank (in Dwarf form).
: When a Kheldian is mezzed, he/she reverts back to human form.
: Human Form Kheldians have an automatic power that makes them more powerful with more team members of different AT.
: Have a travel power at Level 1
: Cannot take any powers from Fly or Teleport power pools.
: Kheldians are Jacks of (almost) all Trades - Master of None!

    Comparing Peacebringers and Warshades:

    Peacebringers have:
    Fly
    Energy Attacks
    -Defense

    Warshades have:
    Teleport
    Negative Energy Attacks
    -Recharge

I chose peacebringer because of -Def and my love of Fly.

After I initially started my Peacebringer and gained a few levels, I realized I had no specifics on how to slot the Peacebringer. So, I started slotting evenly to get a feel for each power. I called this the "Bland" build because it was generic slotting. Mostly, I was 3 slotting all shields and adding slots to the attacks evenly. I know that the Peacebringer could use more Hami Origin enhancements than any other AT and was intent on slotting for it. This idea worked great until the mid-30s and Inventions came around. So my concept changed slightly and I incorporated Inventions.

My current concept is based off the following principles:

: Build for solo - allow teaming to make you shine brighter.
: Avoid forms so mezzes do not require extra work.
: Do not replace another AT, but allow yourself to be the next best thing to that AT (for cases where one cannot be found).
: Incorporate strategy that accounts for Knockback.

In addition, I wanted my toon to be sexy, have "super" feeling powers, and be fun to play.

    {WARNING! - THE INFORMATION CONTAINED BELOW SHOULD BE CONSIDERED THE OPINION OF THE WRITER AND THE CORE OF THE BUILD BEING DISCUSSED. ANY DISAGREEMENTS THE READER MAY HAVE WITH ANY OF THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A DISAGREEMENT AND POSSIBLE REASON THE READER MAY ELECT TO OPT OUT OF USING THIS BUILD.}

    Remember the concept?

Even though the planning stages of this build is the power selection, and most builds rely heavily upon slotting, this build's primary goal is in the enhancement usage. These rules-of-thumb apply when it comes to attacks:

    1. A power with one type of damage will deal that damage if the power hits.
    2. A power with a second type of damage will deal it's damage if the first power hits.
    3. A process, while dependant on the success or failure of that power to hit, will calculate and determine success or failure outside of the normal calculations.

For this build, we want to take take advantage of our "Jack of (almost) All Trades" moniker and try to be a blaster in tank clothing. For this, we are going to include processes (hence the name "Processor") for each power. We have Ranged attacks in Gleaming Bolt and gleaming Blast, we have Melee attacks in Radiant Strike and Incandescent Strike, we have PBAoE attacks in Solar Flare and Dawn Strike, and we have a targeted AoE attack in Luminous Detonation. Because Dawn Strike drops our Endurance and in effect our toggles, we will put that to the side as a "Panic Button".

The following information does include Issue 11, information and should be considered when building your toon. The processes available for each group of attacks are:

Ranged Attacks: (Gleaming Bolt, Gleaming Blast)
    - Devastation (Chance of Hold - 15%)
    - Decimation (Chance of Build-up - 5%)
    - Apocalypse (Chance of Negative Energy Damage - 33% - Unique).

Melee Attacks: (Radiant Strike, Incandescent Strike)
    - Touch of Death (Chance of Negative Energy Damage - Small chance)
    - Mako's Bite (Chance of Lethal Damage - 20%)
    - Hecatomb (Chance of Negative Energy Damage - 33% - Unique)

    *Bonus* Hold attacks: (Incandescent Strike)
    - Ghost Widow's Embrace (Chance of Psionic Damage - 20%)
    - Unbreakable Constraint (Chance of Smashing Damage - 33% - Unique)

PBAoE Attacks: (Solar Flare, Dawn Strike)
    - Scirocco's Dervish (Chance of Lethal Damage - 20%)
    - Armageddon (Chance of Fire Damage - 33% - Unique)

    Targeted AoE Attacks: (Luminous Detonation)
    - Positron's Blast (Chance of Energy Damage - 20%)
    - Ragnarok (Chance of Knockdown + Stun - 20% - Unique)

The "concept" of the processor build is to be able to add additional damage to every attack. This concept can be applied to any AT with any powerset. Imagine the devastation of a Corrupter Processor!

    - Chapter 3: Peacebringer "Super" Powers -

Not every power allows ou to feel "super", but I did find some that seemed "super". To me, certain powers just felt "super". These are the powers that I selected and why:

Attacks: (7 attack powers - 2 ranged, 2 melee, 2 PBAoE, and 1 Targeted AoE)
Gleaming Bolt - Ranged and Quick. An awesome filler power when you have a gap in your attack chain.
Gleaming Blast - Same as Gleaming Bolt except a little slower and better damage.
Radiant Strike - Awesome melee attack. The animation shows a gut punch. LOL! Nice damage!
Incandescant Strike - Melee attack, 2 different types of damage, hold, knockback, oh, my!
Solar Flare - How much more super than a stomp to clear the room?
Dawn Strike - Alex, I'll take nova for $1000. Best damage period!
Luminous Blast - Ranged AoE, KB, nice damage! The Trifecta!

    Protection: (7 Protection powers)
Incandescence - Resistance to Energy and Negative Energy? With the voids, quantums, and galaxies out there I'll take all I can get.
Shining Shield - Smashing and Lethal resistance.
Thermal Shield - Fire and Cold resistance.
Quantum Shield - More Energy and Negative Energy resistance.
Light Form - Cap out everything but Psionics and Toxic. Handy, handy, handy.
Combat Jumping - Mostly protection versus Immobilization. This will be discussed later.
Acrobatics - Knockback and Hold protection.

Heal: (Heal powers help your health or bring you back from a defeated stage)
    Reform Essence - Heal
Essence Boost - Heal and Bonus HP
    Restore Essence - Self Rez

Support: (Support powers are powers that have a function to allow other powers to work better)
    Conserve Energy - End help
    Build Up - Add damage
    Stamina - Better End
Health - Better health and more... discussed later.
    Swift - Faster flying
    Hasten - Faster attacks

Now that you have the bones, let's add some meat by looking at my build...

    - Chapter 4: Angel of Legacy (Human Form Only Processor Build) -

(As the build is revealed, I am showing relavant information that may not be easily found.

    Level 50 Natural Peacebringer

    Primary Power Set: Luminous Blast
    Secondary Power Set: Luminous Aura
    Power Pools: Fitness, Leaping, Speed

    Level 1: Gleaming Bolt Dev'n-Hold%:50(A), Decim-Build%:30(3), EndRdx-I:35(3), HO:Nucle(5), HO:Nucle(5), HO:Nucle(7)

Yes, I used Hamis. I was going for Max damage and accuracy with bonus damage. In this case, hold and Build-up. This will be

repeated on a few powers with the exception being they will have damage processes instead of Chance of Hold.

    Level 1: Incandescence Aegis-Psi/Status:50(A), Aegis-ResDam:50(39), ImpArm-ResPsi:40(40), ImpArm-ResDam:40(40), ImpSkn-Status:30(40), ResDam-I:50(43)

Why do I have Incandescence 6 slotted? Well, a couple of reasons come to mind. It cost no endurance, always on, we get full resistance toward energy and negative energy damage, and we get much needed bonuses in mez, psionic, and a few others from the 2 sets slotted.

    Level 2: Gleaming Blast Dev'n-Hold%:50(A), Apoca-Neg%:50(7), Apoca-Dam:50(13), Apoca-Dam/RechRdx:50(15), Apoca-Dam/EndRdx:50(15), Apoca-Dam/RechRdx/Acc:50(17)

I slotted Issue 11's Apocalypse set into this power. Not only does the set sound cool when it came to an angel, I also love the bonuses!

ISSUE 11 - Apocalypse Invention Origin Set
    - Chance of Negative Damage (33%) Unique
    - Damage (53%) Unique
    - Damage/Recharge Reduction (33.1%/33.1%) Unique
    - Damage/Endurance Reduction (33.1%/33.1%) Unique
    - Damage/Recharge Reduction/Accuracy (26.5%/26.5%/26.5%) Unique

    (2 slotted) 16% Regeneration Bonus
    (3 slotted) 3% Health Bonus
    (4 slotted) 4% Damage Bonus
    (5 slotted) 10% Recharge Bonus

    Level 4: Shining Shield - TtmC'tng-ResDam/Rchg:50(A), TtmC'tng-ResDam:50(37), TtmC'tng-ResDam/EndRdx:50(37), ImpArm-ResPsi:40(45), ImpArm-ResDam:40(45)
    Level 6: Essence Boost - RechRdx-I:50(A)
    Level 8: Radiant Strike - Mako-Dam%:50(A), T'Death-Dam%:40(9), EndRdx-I:30(9), HO:Nucle(11), HO:Nucle(11), HO:Nucle(13)
    Level 10: Thermal Shield - TtmC'tng-ResDam:50(A), TtmC'tng-ResDam/EndRdx:50(36), TtmC'tng-ResDam/Rchg:50(37), ImpArm-ResPsi:40(46), ImpArm-ResDam:40(46)
    Level 12: Swift - Flight-I:50(A)
    Level 14: Quantum Shield - TtmC'tng-ResDam:50(A), TtmC'tng-ResDam/EndRdx:50(39), TtmC'tng-ResDam/Rchg:50(39), ImpArm-ResPsi:40(48), ImpArm-ResDam:40(50)
    Level 16: Health - Numna-Regen/Rcvry+:50(A), Numna-Heal:50(17), Mrcl-Rcvry+:40(25), Mrcl-Heal:40(27), Mrcl-Heal/EndRdx:40(27), Numna-Heal/EndRdx:50(29)

I 6 slotted this power to do several things: Provide as much enhancement as possible, while providing recovery and regeneration bonuses through the set bonuses and enhancement bonuses.

    Level 18: Incandescent Strike - G'Wdw-Dam%:50(A), G'Wdw-Dam%:50(19), G'Wdw-Dam%:50(19), G'Wdw-Dam%:50(21), G'Wdw-Dam%:50(21), G'Wdw-Dam%:50(23)

This is the primary power of absolution. I slotted Issue 11's Hecatomb set into this power as well as Issue 11's Unbreakable Constraint. Hecatomb is the sacrifice of 100 cattle to the gods.

ISSUE 11 - Hecatomb Invention Origin Set
    - Chance of Negative Damage (33%) Unique
    - Damage (53%) Unique
    - Damage/Recharge Reduction (33.1%/33.1%) Unique

So slotted this way, Incandescent Strike will do a full damage strike with both Smashing and Energy damage. It also will have a 20% chance of 71 additional damage from Psionic Damage and a 33% chance of dealing an additional 100 damage in another smashing and Negative Energy.

In Other words, this power can hit for 560 damage - BEFORE inspirations and Build-up! (NOTE - Neither inspirations nor Build-up affect the additional damage)

    Level 20: Stamina - EndMod-I:50(A), EndMod-I:50(23), EndMod-I:50(25)

This is my power that has the extras. Extra ACC, Resistance to KB, Run speed, and Recharge Speed.

I slotted Issue 11's Armageddon set into this power. This set also sounds cool when it came to an angel!

I slotted Issue 11's Ragnarok set into this power. Ragnarok means "Doom of the gods". It also is very compelling for an Angel character.

ISSUE 11 - Ragnarok Invention Origin Set

This power (while quite powerful) drains Endurance and I wanted to slot it more for of an Emergency 'Panic' Button.

    Level 44:Acrobatics - EndRdx-I:50(A)
    Level 47:Reform Essence - RechRdx-I:50(A)
    Level 49:Hasten - RechRdx-I:50(A), RechRdx-I:50(50), RechRdx-I:50(50)

I left hasten to last for one reason alone - because if you play the style suggested here, you will have a good basis for playing a hastened version when you have all your other tools available.

    - Chapter 6: Application Data -

For the following tests, I needed numbers to measure the results by. I used Lvl 50 Minion Streng, Witch and LVL 50 Lieut Vampire from the Halloween event. With no inspirations, Build-up, or "Chance of ..." processes, my results with 3 lvl 40

    Damage IOs were as follows:

Incandescant Strike - Extreme DMG - Melee (Energy/Smashing)

    type - 3 IO
    Smashing - 128.41
    Energy - 164.63

Consistently, I was getting the same numbers everytime so this is my base numbers. I added Build-Up (BU) and each +Dmg inspiration (Enrage=T1=35%, Focused Rage=T2=33%, and Righteous Rage=T3=50%) and using them in conjunction with each other.

    type - 3 IO – BU - T1 - T2 - T3 - BU+T1 - BU+T2 - BU+T3
    Smashing - 128.41 - 175.25 - 144.67 - 149.88 - 160.94 - 191.52 - 169.72 - 207.78
    Energy - 164.63 - 224.69 - 185.48 - 192.15 - 206.33 - 245.54 - 252.21 - 266.39

Once I had these results and I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that they were consistent, I added the 3 "Chance Of ..." IO into that power that were available for Incandescant Strike. I then proceeded to get numbers and frequency of these "Chances" to establish a good pattern of consistency.

Chance Of... – Damage - Frequency
    Lethal - 71.74 - 22% - (22 of 100)
    Neg. Energy - 71.74 - 15% - (15 of 100)
    Psionic - 71.74 - 27% - (27 of 100)

Sometimes all 3 would hit making for a glorious set of 5 numbers floating of the top of a collapsing enemy. I found that BU and inspirations did not affect the damage from "Chance Of ..." IOs. This one attack with all 3 "Chance Of ..." hitting and having Build-up applied as well as a Righteous Rage (T3 +50%) in effect, would give you 689.39 of Damage to those same enemies. Slotting the Issue 11 "Chance Of ..." IOs in this same power will increase the effieciency of the power and will add

    60 more damage to it.

    - Chapter 7: Question & Answer -

    ----------
Q: Nice. I liked it, but I had one concern.

Yeah, my all-human is closing in on 50. I haven't tried Luminous Detonation yet, but from what I've heard the damage is pretty worthless. I could imagine that too. If Solar Flare does High damage, and solo, that's usually not that much, I really don't like the idea of a Moderate damage AoE on the PB.

Is it really "moderate" damage, and is it lower, equal or higher to Solar Flare damage?

A: The key is that each time you have an enemy flying through the air, he is not shooting at you. Hence, KB becomes damage mitigation and Luminous Detonation; while moderate with Damage, still provide a helluva kick.

I love that power as a finish move...

I typically open with melee attacks on the most dangerous enemy, stomp them into a corner, then let Detonation fly... usually finishing off the minions.

    - Chaper 8: In Closing -

I will keep this guide updated with all the latest information as it comes available. However, you can help with this. If you have any questions or concerns, please post below. I will be more than happy to answer from my own experiences.

I hope you find this guide informative, entertaining, and that it makes you think of possibilities.

    Thank you!

    lvl 1 glinting eye=1acc 3 damage
    lvl 1 incandescence=3 res + IO bonus +mez IOs
    Lv 2 gleaming blast= 2 dam/acc HOs, dam/range HO, 2 rech, 1 end
    Lv 4 shining shield= 3 res/end HOs
    Lv 6 hasten= 3 rech
Lv 8 essence boost=3 heals, 3 rech. might go with doctor wounds though
    Lv 10 radiant strike= 2 dam/acc, dam/mez, 3 rech
    Lv 12 build up= 3 rech
    Lv 14 super speed
    Lv 16 swift
    Lv 18 health
    Lv 20 stamina= 3 end mods
Lv 22 reform essence= 3 heal, 3 rech but might also get doc wounds instead
    Lv 24 incandescent strike= 2 dam/acc, dam/mez, 3 rech
    Lv 26 conserve power= 3 rech
Lv 28 quantum flight= 3 rech, 3 end red. This is your phase and best way to get out of any situation. If u need to stay in phase longer just hit conserve power when end gets low.
Lv 30 assault= 3 end. a PBs damage isnt all that great so every little bit helps
    Lv 32 tactics= 3 tohit/end red HOs
    Lv 35 combat jump
Lv 38 Light form= 3 res, 3 rech. Like i said this power was the PBs bread and butter. But now it can either make u or break u. In arena u can run it twice in a match but first time is risky so be prepared to hit conserve power before u crash and then go into phase. Always go into light form with 2:59 min left on clock.
    Lv 41 superjump= 3 travel/end HOs
    Lv 44 acrobatics= 3 end
Lv 47 vengeance= 2 def but is debatable. do not even slot if u could use the slots somewhere else
    Lv 50 luminous detonation=2 dam/acc, 1 dam/range, 1 end. another 3rd range attack

    free fly= 3 travel/end

  20. I have had my dark defender for a long time but have only attended raids a couple of times in the last 9 months. The last time, I think I rezzed close to 20 at a single time. It is fun to get 20 or so 'TY' in chat.

But it troubles me that among all the raid talk going on and the raids being run here and there that the raids always take place on weekends. I will not take time away from my fiance in order to raid. With that being said, I'd participate in a scheduled weekday raid on a consistant basis.

On a secondary note, the last raid I was in, I went down and a lot of people did too. I was in the middle of a whole slew of them and had Howling Twilight ready for use. I broadcast several times that I have howling twilight ready and needed a rez! Many times people around me were rezzed while I remainedhorizontal. I was one of the last people rezzed in that group. There should be a healerz channel so we can communicate the need without the redneck jedi jokes.

If we can just focus on the raid and our jobs, we could be in and out quickly. Communication is key to our success.
  21. --- Addendum ---

Some things to remember when you area mentor:

    1. Remember that if you go down in battle and your sidekick is still there fighting, don't go to the hospital or base for rez. Your removal from the mission map will put your sidekick at risk of being defeated. Lend a hand by feeding inspirations to them or do some targetting for them. They might live and they might still be defeated, but at least you allowed them to be the hero for once.

    (Others to follow)
  22. There again, I am also referring to PVP in RV. A sig hero hit through an already placed Phase. It was on before I encounterd the hero and still on after I took damage. I got hit (nearest to my recollection, 2 times with that application of phase.
