If you want to see if a certain graphics designer really is sexy, a little Google-fu will answer that question.

I don't need proof. I have faith that Jay is Sexy.

Is Castle's sig quoting everyone's favourite robotic assassin from KOTOR?
[/ QUOTE ]
From KOTOR2, and I think it was one of the other HK models, but yeah.
[/ QUOTE ]
I just finished playing it again. I love the game.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd probably love KOTOR2 too if it weren't for the fact that one of my CDs doesn't want to be read any more so I can't re-install it. :sob: -
Tracing has its place. However, I don't feel it can be the best tool for visualization and concepts nor a the best tool for beginners. Why? Because, to paraphrase a UK game art professor, it's exceptionally important for an artist to -see- the world and not just draw it. Seeing how the world is formed, colored, and shaped lets an artist re-create it accurately and develop their own interpretations of it.

You know what would be cool end game content. And as far as I know no hero missions have this. How about a redeem Frostfire story arc. It could be in the late 30's to mid 40's. Your contact could come to you with a amazing discovery.
Mission 1- Meet with Frostfire
Frostfire- Who escaped again not long after you arrested him last, has turned up again. But get this. it's not exactly what you think? He's willing to come clean and surrender himself to you. That's right, he's asked for you by name (Insert hero name here) and says that he has some important info concerning some major villain organization and some of their activitys. And he's willing to give everything he has and himself over to you. Go, meet with him at this location in Steel Canyon (Could be anywhere) and bring him in for justice. I dont have to warn you that this could be a trap, or probably is a trap. How often does the bad guy ever just turn himself in. But he asked for you personally. So that alone should make this meeting worth your while. Might want to bring some friends though.
Of course it's going to be a trap, but not exactly what you think. (Using the cutscene technology. Show Frostfire defeating a couple Malta and then beating heat out the back of the building.
You enter the mission and fight your way thru Malta galore, coming to the end of the mission you find a Malta gunslinger talking about bringing Frostfire in dead or alive, preferibly dead. After spanking the Malta goons you find a computer with partially erased data on a Malta plot to kill (Insert signature hero name here) and some clues in it that link it to Arachnos or the 5th Column or whatever bigger villain name group you want.
More to come.
[/ QUOTE ]
Heh, I was going to suggest something like this. 'course to keep in tune with FF's character, he'd probably have some questionable methods to deal with the Malta. I'd probably also have the end of the arc leave FF's final fate up to the reader ie does FF ultimately turn good or does he fall back onto his anger and habits of however many years and remain a villain? -

Well that is pretty nifty and all, but once the novelty wears off is it still worth buying an whole extra card that you might not even be using in 5 years?
:-/

The answer is no.Won't see me running out to buy a card till it's a requirement for some new game I want. Thats my measuring stick for when to update my computer. When it no longer runs the games I want to play, it's time for an update!

Did you guys miss the "suggest the plot for a City of Heroes comic issue" contest? I am hard at work on the script for Issue 16 based on an entry I selected from the many hundreds of submissions.

Comic book issue not MMO issue. -
You'll probably want Anti-aliasing and Anastropic filtering on (I don't remember off hand what they may be called in COH). The special effects like Depth of Field you can skip (since you may or may not need background material and you can add in DOF later anyway). Bear in mind that high quality screen shots do not equal playable framerates

This novel, while a good read, still bothers me on the timeline because if its in canon at all, then Synapse, Positron, and Manticore are way too old compared to how they're depicted in the game and the comics. Synapse and Positron are pushing 50 and Manticore's age is never given but he's still got to be somewhere in the late thirties to possible mid-40s.
I mean, maybe Synapse has an excuse for his appearence due to acts of science and nobody knows what Positron looks like, but Manticore is the normal one.
I mean, this didn't bother me too much during the book, but it's still not being addressed. I don't suppose that some rednamed bastion of the Story Bible could clear the age descrepency up?
[/ QUOTE ]
Never worry about the age of a hero. Batman has been 39 forever and will stay that way until the storyline needs it to change....:>
[/ QUOTE ]
Which reminds me of Batman Beyond.
Which brings to mind a thought for City of Heroes 2, if you guys ever make one.
Modernize the city further. Advance the timeline substantially. Retire the Phalanx (except for Immortal Statesman, of course) and bring in the next generation. Could be fun to think of our CoH2 characters as the legacy of our CoH1 characters.
Just, you know, food for thought.
[/ QUOTE ]
Or, instead, make COH2 (essentially) a standalone expansion (but with more!).
Basically, when COH pretty much stable and stagnant, COH2 arrives. It retains everything from COH1 (basic) but advances everything and basically acts like a traditional sequel - when you 'beat' 1, you go on and play 2. Sort of the concept in Age of Conan where you play one part of the game (offline part) and then go on to the next (online part). COH2 however has interconectivity just like you said - legacy and what not, encouraging at least some play of COH1. -
On a related note, if anyone can identify this guy, send me an PM so I can thank him for providing a cool screenshot for Warcry.

Valdermic - NCSoft (?)
[/ QUOTE ]
Val's still working with NCSoft. He's on the AutoAssault team, I was happy to see him pop up over there when checking out the beta boards...

Oh, I know. I should have been clearer with that ?; I meant that I wasn't sure what his particular job was. -

I don't see Valdermic on there ...he's got a Wicked scrapper for a Hero
And what about "that chap" who does the Europe community liason stuff?
Hey Athyna, yeah I left myself totally open on that one, but Pat Boone? Come on that's just masochism
[/ QUOTE ]
It's an old list that hasn't really been updated recently. Valdermic is NCsoft QA or Community I believe and "that chap" would be Brigader (or something along those lines). -
Didn't I just post The List a little whiles ago? At any rate, judging from the number and type of people who have posted, there are quite a few that just don't have red names as Castle mentioned. Most notable being the animation/art dept who have never posted. But only a handful of programmers have posted (3-5); chances are, they have a couple more than that. Only one person from their system/engineering dept has posted and there's probably one or two other system guys/girls. Quite a few (relatively speaking) designers have posted, but even in this case, these designers have generally been from various sub depts (zone design, system design, etc) so there's likely at least one or two others in those depts. And of course only Loki has posted from the business/high end side of things. Statesman and Manticore come close, being both designers and business (both in charge of various aspects of the franchise). And that's not considering people that may be involved in smaller ways such as internal testers and such. There's probably at least twice as many people who directly work on the game at Cryptic as have posted and a bunch more who are somehow involved with the company.
And of course there's also the company that Cryptic outsources their CGI videos too, if you want to count them. :P

Hmm... mayhaps there should be like... an electronic version of the card game like MTG Online. You could create your own avatar with lots of neat costume pieces, wander around a lobby room with lots of pretty stuff and chat with people before heading into private game rooms to play against others. It'd be awesome.

Fundamentally, a proper point blance would be best, allowing the player the most freedom of choice. Unfortunately, it is very tough. Champions / Hero System has had 20 years of tuning to it, and certain teams will reliably take down certain other teams of the same point value. It can't be prevented when a wide array of powers are available. The best you can hope for is to get enough play balance to eliminate the phenomenon of a team that reliably stomps all other teams of the same point total.
[/ QUOTE ]
True, but the difference with wargames is that the characters are a known and set quantity. It's like balancing MTG or HeroClix or Warhammer - the pieces are a set and known quantity. While the collection of them may change, it's a little easier since there is no one trying to put uber defense with uber offense as the designers already determined the powers out.
