You guys are.. amazingly helpful, most of the other forums took ~20 hours before I got a response, hah!

That said, as noted in the bottom, I'm not lamenting the loss of mu, it was I12? maybe I13, has been forever, all I had was PPP's, and Mu was the only one that even remotely matched the concept, all of the APP's can fit it, so.. changing requires little effort on my part.

Thanks for all the help guys.

As for specifics on the build it really depends on what you're going for. DPS? Tanking? Stupid Scrapper Tricks? The All Rounder? The Supreme Being (all of the above)?
Yea, I was thinking on that while looking at the AH -- most of the set bonuses that have one type of defense (positional or typed), have a weaker bonus to the other tacked on, so even in the rare case you fight those you have -some- backup to your innate defense anyhow

As for what type of build.. the latter, I suppose? hah, but really an all-rounder (My server's redside population is.. incredibly low for some reason, wasn't when I quit but.. total ghost town now, so.. I'll be working my way blue.. where I can leave the tanking to the well.. Tanks), Punching things while keeping myself alive, being able to tank in a pinch is always a bonus, but not a focus.. and well stupid scrapper tricks are fun, but I don't need AV soloing to help me sleep at night.

That said, I prefer to team, so things that can help me stay alive in say.. a Tf environment (large groups, lots of them, rapid succession) is kind of the main focus for me atm))
  3. Just came back to the game after about a two year break (.. one of my characters had 928 days idle, heh), and have my SS/WP, favorite character -by far-, having left before AE even came out, i'm kind of.. completely lost in the MASS of sets that have appeared since then

I've been playing a dom for a few weeks, went 1-40, couldn't get my head into it, moved on to a corr, felt more right then.. it clicked, I'm a scrapper, like, since the first time I went into scrapperlock, it's been in my blood, s'why the dom didn't feel right, control isn't my game, brawling with a mass of mobs is, sadly I've literally got every build I want out of the scrapper sets at 50, and.. none of them really click anymore.

So I went to my SS/WP, and everything just fell in place, it's wonderful, loving it, ran incarnate with her, farming shards now, etc etc.

Problem her build needs.. a lot. -lot- of work, I was just kind of tossing slots in everything as I went up uh.. heh Easier to just post it. (I didn't bother putting slots in, s'all low level sets (focused smite, multi-strike, etc) and generic IO's

Blank power slots are fitness (yes, she still has fitness, heh), I however, have all my vet respecs AND two free respecs just sitting there to be used, so! I ask thee wizards of the forum, are there any powers I skipped over that I should take a second look at? What should I toss in the three slots i'm going to get from dropping fitness?

Also, which would be a medium-expensive IO build to use? I know most people say shoot for S/L def, but.. seems kind of counter productive, aren't most things that melt faces almost entirely typed (S/L def won't help much when posi is blasting you)

What I have to work with at the moment
1.) 250,000,000 (past couple of days have been good to me on drops)
2.) Three LoTG 7.5%'s (for sell or use, I got extremely lucky with ITF drops on my dom)
3.) I have an MM I'm going to delete with a Force feedback recharge proc, if it's useful.

I don't mind having a build to shoot for, I can always stuff cheap sets in the slots to hold over until I can afford some of the more expensive stuff. I intend to make this character my main, so working towards an end-product is no issue.

    and err some notes
1.) I would -like- to keep fly, it's kind of.. thematic for the character (Air superiority can be traded for hover or something I just took it to fill the attack chain and.. boxing kind of does that) But, if for some reason it's just KILLING the build, I can figure a way to modify the thematics.

2.) Mu mastery has no ties to the thematics, the character is a mage, at the time all I had was mu mastery as an 'epic' pool for mages.. I just took the powers I did because well, more AE is never a bad thing. So feel free to suggest a new APP (Wonderful thing about mages, they can learn to chuck fireballs just as easily as they can learn to freeze things.)

3.) What Alpha SHOULD I use? Common sense says Spiritual radial.. but.. never hurts to get opinions

I know this is a LOT to ask just.. waltzing in, but.. thankful for any help, even if it's just a passing suggestion.

    Hope that helps
Actually found your guide hiding in the depths of the guide thread, helped a lot though.

That said, went with /traps, know it from my MM, and since I am a baby child, I will stick with what I know.

just a few odd power choices, atm, seems i'm only skipping pistols (lol quick attacks), and Suppressive fire (Mag 3 stun seems pointless with poison trap and seeker drones at the ready) and time bomb (possibly triage beacon) from traps, power pools are looking to be Flight (.. I like fly as my travel power sue me, it's thematic), Speed (Wee hasten), Leadership (Manuvers for def + recharge) and invi (stealth hijinks, plus two places for lotg recharge -- I got 4 of them yesterday from drops/reward rolls, and my dom already has 5 slotted so.. \o/ free recharge)

Problem is.. what APP, and.. level 2. Triage beacon vs empty clips. only guide I could find suggests skipping empty clips, but it was written pre-inherent fitness, so.. seems kind of an open power choice atm, and triage beacon is painfully weak so.. it's either a little more support or a difficult to place cone (Which, my main is a dom, I'm quite good at combat-positioning, so.. not that much of an issue)) any suggestions?
  5. Mk.. so, I should probably start off with an apology, these questions may come off as idiotic and/or insulting, but.. Lack of information is thine enemy and whatnot

I want to make a DP character, blasters swear them off, Defenders are too :supportfirst: for my tastes so.. that leaves Corrs.

First of all, I've never made a corr, never really considered it. if I remember correctly their primaries are 75% of the blaster numbers and their secondary is 75% of the defender numbers, I fail to see how the chance to crit really makes up for that. Has it changed? or.. is there some mystical bonus here i'm missing

Second, how is /ta? I know it's terrible on MM's, but i've heard fairly good things about it on Def's, though a quick search doesn't really give me anything :solid: on it's state for corrs -- trying to decide between /ta and /traps, and I know traps is universally awesome so.. kind of up in the air.

I... don't have a witty comeback for that.

.. I have three respecs from vet rewards.. I'll.. just.. respec at 50. I guess. and.. figure something out for the concept hole not flying will leave.
  8. That's actually similar to the build i'm looking at but.. I want fly, not SS as a travel power (concept thing, silly rp'r, heh).. was thinking of dropping hasten into my level 6 slot and getting hover where hasten/ss are.. but that leaves me down one LotG... then again it'll be an exceedingly long time before I can even AFFORD that, so.. I guess it's not TOO much of a net loss. mrrh.

I'm sure I can find a way to make it work, just have to poke it a bit.
  9. Thanks for hte replies -- 22 now, going to respec out of ss, drop jolting chain (20 levels of it and.. eh... i'll probably pick it up later hwne I can afford to put procs in it) and fix my slotting

Which leads me to the next question: How to slot? at low levels should I focus on attacks? controls? what? My mind/psi was pre-revamp, so psi was pitiful damage until 38 nayhow, my mind control WAS my main source of damage, so.. that was a no-brainer >_> bit different now.
  10. Just coming back to the game after.. according to my characters, a 960 day absence. popped back in I13 for a couple days, but.. all the architect farming groups just madem e facepalm and quit again immediately.. now, thanks to steam and it's rediculously cheap GR sale, i'm back again, and loving it -- new teaming system is shiny.

Anyhow, my 'project' before I departed was a Mind/Psi dom, sits at 44. I'm wierd in that I have a hard time picking up the mindset of a character after even a few months gone -- let alone the years it's been, so I rerolled an elec/psi, and -loving- it so far.. just uh.. a little lost

First of all.. Slotting (as in.. where to drop my slots). Mind/psi was easy.. but I'm used to leveling scrappers, so.. i'm beyond lost on how to slot.. a build, or some advice would be wonderful

Second of all... how useful is Jolting chain? I mean, i'm getting a lot of use out of it at low levels (11 atm), but it seems like something that would fall out of use later -- I have a few respecs, so don't mind dropping it at 22 or something

Third.. Gremlins. Looking around some people hate them, some people love them -- as someone who primarily groups.. worth it? not worth it?

Lastly.. Tips? I mean everything looks worth taking at this point (Only things out of both sets i'm skipping is looking to be telekinetic thrust, mindblast, and electric fence, heh), but i'm sure somethings are just.. deceptively bad.

    Thanks in advance.
  11. Just to note -- you said "close to an un-IO'd SR scrapper at the start.. without IO's you are an un IO'd SR scrappers level ((my bot/traps has 30.25% with cj, manuevers, 1 slotted def prot bots, and 3 slotted FFG.)) -- a SR scrapper with 3 slotted passives and toggles comes out to about 31.5%.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
    My guess

Brute Secondary: Regeneration - Ice/SR are defense, in beta the defense sets didn't work well with brutes.

    Dominator Primary: Earth
    Dominator Secondary: Electric
    Stalker Primary: Broadsword

    Tanker Primary: Energy
    Tanker Secondary: Katana

    [/ QUOTE ]

Just some notes -- That brute thing is no longer relevant, it didn't work on brutes in beta because back then fury didn't build on misses, and I can confirm, having run a LGTF with two bubblers on my SS/wp just yesterday.. it does now.

Plus they have EA, which sucks in it's current state, but goes against that theory too.

Doms aren't likely to get elec as a secondary -- same thing with your blaster note -- Devs don't mix-match sets, usually if they bring in one set ((earth.)) they bring in another set, for concept reasons

Not to mention the powers for a earth control set are in game already, so it's not really "new" -- Stone melee, and.. the abilities from the hero stone mastery epics, and the stuff that the Legacy Chain terra's have ((they have a few rock blast attacks.))

Stalkers aren't getting broadsword, goes against the concept all together, stalkers don't use brute force, they strike with finesse to quickly eliminate targets.. Broadsword even says in it's description that it is "Heavy, inflicting more damage than Katana, while slower." -- doesn't really sound very.. "finesse"-like to me.

Lastly -- I can see energy for tanks, but Katana just seems too "light" tanks are like brutes, traditionally have heavy handed attack sets, katana just.. doesn't fit that concept -- though BS does.
  13. Everyone seems to have missed the most important part of this all, Lighthouse posted with such indepth-knowledge of vanguard ongoings, and referred to vanguard so personally.

This brings me to one conclusion..

Lighthouse is none other than the dark watcher.

    *nods satisfied and walks off*
  14. Heroes is easy to remember, villains is the one that gets me, Always get the top two confused ((ruthless and relentless.))
  15. Oddly enough the "pull" would be a sign in the other direction for me, maybe it's my scrapper blood, but i've noticed alot of times -- specially at low levels, pulling is useless, pullers often get 2-3 mobs out of a 10+ mob group, and we spend 5 minutes fighting a group we could have killed in a few seconds rushing it.
  16. [ QUOTE ]

Stone Cages: Please see Stone Prizon for my opinion on this. There's only one time when I wish I had this and that's when fighting slow immune enemies (werewolves). Some people will take this and slot it for damage. That is a mistake. If you take this tactic, please, whenever you're in debt and your team is wiped, think of me and how I said "I told you so"

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Werewolves are immune to immob.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Not immune, just resistant, i've locked them down with fire cages on my fire/kin more than once, but it took three applications ((.. or two, can never tell when there is a critical)) -- but then again, these days I suppose alot of controllers slot for damage rather than control, so.. stacking isn't an option
  17. just a comment on set IO's, if you play your cards correctly (i.e. don't go for some uber set bonus build, but rather mix and match set IO's to get the most effective bonus) you can get ~96% dam, 60% acc, and 40% rech/end at 32. -- I did this on my Kat/SR scrapper, slightly different build, but mixed and matched all of my single targets, and put a full set of multi-strike in all of my AE's at 32, along with one set of red fortune in my 3 toggles, and though I had to spend ~4 hours playing the market and be extremely conservative with my cash (i.e., starting at the lowest sell price for a piece of salvage, and working up slowly, and avoiding recipes that required rare, (specially rare arcane) salvage if at all possible) -- I managed to slot all my attacks, my 3 toggles, and put 3 basic end io's in stamina for 3.2 mil, and likewise, even with all 3 of my toggles running after that, I rarely saw my end bar move, and I never went below 75% unless I was getting drained like crazy.

Just a thought, if you play your cards carefully, you can get good set io's at 32 for fairly cheap, and it really takes away alot of the problems in the build (i.e., you could slot multi strike in death shroud as i'm sure it accepts pbaoe damage, and max damage at the ED cap, and nigh max end and acc, solving it's end cost problem.)
  18. You are forgetting a key factor there -- Travel time. if you figure in that you often waste at least a minute or two traveling between missions, and that you'd be doing 3 missions in the time it took you to do one "kill all" mission -- it's actually work xp/min.

Best bet for the most exp is a well built team in outdoor missions -- I generated 11k/min on my 42 in a team, that'd be 22k/min on double exp weekend.
  19. just to note, you can, infact, afk-travel with SJ, just use your autorun key (by default R, or make one /bind key ++forward) and a automatic jump key (I used j, so it would be /bind j ++up) activate them both, point in the general direction of your destination, and afk as you will.. with any luck you won't have accidentally gotten stuck on a building or something (though, usually I just alt tab to irc or the forums when traveling, so.. I check every once in a while)

Yup and I'll tell you why.....
As my sig states I am a habitual Defender or habitual support character. When CoV came out I stayed true to form and rolled Doms and Corrs.
One day while minding my own business I was struck with the idea to try a Brute. Well heck why not? Noone was around to see me and the door to my room was locked so.........

Now I can't play anything else!
I don't want to log in to any other toon!
Now, all I wanna do is SMASH!!!

Now I'm addicted to the SMASH
AND I now need to change my sig
I need some sort of 12-step now...
    Darn Brutes.................................

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree.. Ican barely play my scrappers now without getting the itch to SMASH!

Only class I can play without being bored now, is an MM, and thats simply because there is something unnaturally pleasing about hitting one key, and watching an enemy get pincushioned with lasers.. get sent FLYING (I can usually pull off a double knockback.. is ungodly satisfying) and 30 numbers flying above their head..

Now, if only said barrage would make them stay down..

    *shrug* SMASH! on.
  21. Ryougi

    Double critical

Fairly certain they always critted.. just the word "CRITICAL!" and the double damage numbers didn't fly above the enemies head till I2 or I3.. but... it was viewable in the combat log before then..

and yea -- in I3 the chance on bosses and LT's was upped.
