SS/WP... little (LOT) of help.

Just came back to the game after about a two year break (.. one of my characters had 928 days idle, heh), and have my SS/WP, favorite character -by far-, having left before AE even came out, i'm kind of.. completely lost in the MASS of sets that have appeared since then

I've been playing a dom for a few weeks, went 1-40, couldn't get my head into it, moved on to a corr, felt more right then.. it clicked, I'm a scrapper, like, since the first time I went into scrapperlock, it's been in my blood, s'why the dom didn't feel right, control isn't my game, brawling with a mass of mobs is, sadly I've literally got every build I want out of the scrapper sets at 50, and.. none of them really click anymore.

So I went to my SS/WP, and everything just fell in place, it's wonderful, loving it, ran incarnate with her, farming shards now, etc etc.

Problem her build needs.. a lot. -lot- of work, I was just kind of tossing slots in everything as I went up uh.. heh Easier to just post it. (I didn't bother putting slots in, s'all low level sets (focused smite, multi-strike, etc) and generic IO's

Blank power slots are fitness (yes, she still has fitness, heh), I however, have all my vet respecs AND two free respecs just sitting there to be used, so! I ask thee wizards of the forum, are there any powers I skipped over that I should take a second look at? What should I toss in the three slots i'm going to get from dropping fitness?

Also, which would be a medium-expensive IO build to use? I know most people say shoot for S/L def, but.. seems kind of counter productive, aren't most things that melt faces almost entirely typed (S/L def won't help much when posi is blasting you)

What I have to work with at the moment
1.) 250,000,000 (past couple of days have been good to me on drops)
2.) Three LoTG 7.5%'s (for sell or use, I got extremely lucky with ITF drops on my dom)
3.) I have an MM I'm going to delete with a Force feedback recharge proc, if it's useful.

I don't mind having a build to shoot for, I can always stuff cheap sets in the slots to hold over until I can afford some of the more expensive stuff. I intend to make this character my main, so working towards an end-product is no issue.

and err some notes
1.) I would -like- to keep fly, it's kind of.. thematic for the character (Air superiority can be traded for hover or something I just took it to fill the attack chain and.. boxing kind of does that) But, if for some reason it's just KILLING the build, I can figure a way to modify the thematics.

2.) Mu mastery has no ties to the thematics, the character is a mage, at the time all I had was mu mastery as an 'epic' pool for mages.. I just took the powers I did because well, more AE is never a bad thing. So feel free to suggest a new APP (Wonderful thing about mages, they can learn to chuck fireballs just as easily as they can learn to freeze things.)

3.) What Alpha SHOULD I use? Common sense says Spiritual radial.. but.. never hurts to get opinions

I know this is a LOT to ask just.. waltzing in, but.. thankful for any help, even if it's just a passing suggestion.

The argument is that the things that truly melt faces, like Positron, are a minority in the game... where the things that do smashing/lethal can be found in practically every single spawn. So while it doesn't help with some of the big boys (only SOME - most of the Freedom Phalanx and Vindicators do indeed have smash/lethal in their attacks) it helps with everything else.

As for specifics on the build it really depends on what you're going for. DPS? Tanking? Stupid Scrapper Tricks? The All Rounder? The Supreme Being (all of the above)?

Weight training: Because you'll never hear someone lament "If only I were weaker, I could have saved them."

Yea, I was thinking on that while looking at the AH -- most of the set bonuses that have one type of defense (positional or typed), have a weaker bonus to the other tacked on, so even in the rare case you fight those you have -some- backup to your innate defense anyhow

As for what type of build.. the latter, I suppose? hah, but really an all-rounder (My server's redside population is.. incredibly low for some reason, wasn't when I quit but.. total ghost town now, so.. I'll be working my way blue.. where I can leave the tanking to the well.. Tanks), Punching things while keeping myself alive, being able to tank in a pinch is always a bonus, but not a focus.. and well stupid scrapper tricks are fun, but I don't need AV soloing to help me sleep at night.

That said, I prefer to team, so things that can help me stay alive in say.. a Tf environment (large groups, lots of them, rapid succession) is kind of the main focus for me atm))

This is what I came up with. I tried to keep everything relatively cheap. Idk the prices on the some of the targeted AoEs.

There're a lot of ways to go about it.

Here's one quickly thrown together take

I... don't quite understand the goal of that build, all_hell. Bonus damage? 12% damage is six fury... which is not exactly hard to come by.

I built my sm/wp to be a berserker: 55% global recharge before hasten, 48% smash/lethal resist, 20% smash/lethal defense, 38% energy/neg, 25% fire/cold, 2500 hp, 45 hp/sec regen with zero enemies. He can destroy a pylon, crush an elite boss, is more than durable enough to be the first into any fight, can tank if I use Darkest Night or have someone throw a defense boosting buff onto me of some type... the only thing he can't do is beat AVs without inspirations (except Manticore, but it's freaking manticore).

I don't use mids but I slotted my single target attacks 5 crushing impacts and an endurance (4 end/sec recovery and two peformance shifters are NOT enough to keep stone melee happy at 125% recharge when fighting a pylon). I did not slot brawl or boxing. Reactive armors (4 piece) into tough, mind over body, and the tier 9 I always forget to use. 4 dark watchers into darkest night. 4 thunderstrike into throw boulder and gloom. Liberal uses of numina and miracle throughout all the heals. Three luck of the gamblers including the global recharge into heightened senses and weave. A LOTG recharge in combat jumping . The global defense IO in the first power in willpower.

ok...here's a rough version of something to shoot for and still have room for improvement

as you look here are my reasons based on my own stone/wp brutes experiences
-WP benefits from typed defense..so i shot for around 30% for f/c/e/n and only pulled 25 for s/l BUT once you get some extra money/merits/etc you can upgrade the smashing haymakers in punch/haymaker/KO blow for kinetic combats

-WP LOVES extra hp...it means higher regen..so i put numinas all over the place, kinda pricey but again its something worth investing in

-even with stones lack of aoe, i get better mileage from soul mastery...2 amazing attacks and darkest night is icing on the cake. all the extra -tohit really helps in the long run...and you even get a better pbaoe with foot stomp vs my tremor. i did try runnuing mu but i felt too compelled to try soul and it allows me to tank better

-i use lots of end...i have roughly 55% rech and i use a lot of heavy end attacks...i had few end issues by the time i finished his build(IE when i popped hasten for big fighs) but i used the cardiac radial for the extra -end and +dmg res...now i have unlimited energy and im tougher than ever. i figure with your rage crashes you may also like that particular incarnate

-you have perma-rage but i gave you hasten anyway..feel free to replace unless you just love it that much

Heres one i used to use until i stripped my SS/WP. Soft capped to s/l with maneuvers on and 43.8% +rech before hasten. I know it doesnt use mu but on some of the tougher content that -KB it has can really hurt. Anyway, hope its not too expensive.

You guys are.. amazingly helpful, most of the other forums took ~20 hours before I got a response, hah!

That said, as noted in the bottom, I'm not lamenting the loss of mu, it was I12? maybe I13, has been forever, all I had was PPP's, and Mu was the only one that even remotely matched the concept, all of the APP's can fit it, so.. changing requires little effort on my part.

Thanks for all the help guys.

It's just frankenslotting that happens to use Mako's. I love the Mako quad for franken.
Bonuses weren't really a consideration in making it.

If the budget was greater, more could have been done than frankenslotting.

But iirc the budget was kind of small

I am pretty sure that the build I posted is inexpensive. I guess that was the point of the build

If you want to have extra AoEs, it's not a bad choice.
