So.. Making a Corr.. some questions
Corruptor Scourge not only adds damage, but since it is triggered by the HP of the enemy dropping past a certain percentage it is more effective in late in fights and against powerful high-HP enemies.
I haven't tried it myself, but I've heard that DP/TA works OK. /Traps is of course good.

Mk.. so, I should probably start off with an apology, these questions may come off as idiotic and/or insulting, but.. Lack of information is thine enemy and whatnot
I want to make a DP character, blasters swear them off, Defenders are too :supportfirst: for my tastes so.. that leaves Corrs. First of all, I've never made a corr, never really considered it. if I remember correctly their primaries are 75% of the blaster numbers and their secondary is 75% of the defender numbers, I fail to see how the chance to crit really makes up for that. Has it changed? or.. is there some mystical bonus here i'm missing Second, how is /ta? I know it's terrible on MM's, but i've heard fairly good things about it on Def's, though a quick search doesn't really give me anything :solid: on it's state for corrs -- trying to decide between /ta and /traps, and I know traps is universally awesome so.. kind of up in the air. |
Yeah, you're about right on their damage/buff/debuff numbers. The thing is, its mostly a personal thing. For me, I find having a buff/debuff secondary and Scourge more than makes up for having lower damage than a Blaster. I also find the added damage compared to a Defender very noticeable, but I don't find the added buff/debuff strength of a Defender noticeable outside of bigger heals.
Semi-objectively, Scourge and having buffs/debuffs should make up a lot of the difference. Blasters may hit harder, but Corrs can buff themselves/debuff the resists of enemies to do competetive levels of damage. Defenders may have better buff/debuff numbers, but if Corrs have adequate buff/debuff power both to support a team and solo well, (which I assure you they do ), it's not a big deal.
The Scourge chance for crit is a funny thing. Numerically, it doesn't add a lot against Minions and sometimes Lts because they die so fast its often overkill. Where it really counts is against bosses and up. On anything with a lot of hp like AVs, GMs or Pylons, it's huge. Its also better with DoT powers, especially insane ones like Rain of Fire. On a more subjective note, while I know its mostly overkill, I do love seeing huge clouds of Scourge over groups
As for TA, its pretty solid. It's kindof an awkward set but it can be very powerful. I say awkward because it's a little bit all over the place and some of the numbers could be better IMO. You've got the potential for massive debuffing and damage though. Got a guide for it (and all the other Corr secondaries) in my sig if you want to take a look.

Just my 2 inf. I don't think you can go wrong with them.
I have 5 corr at 50, including a DP/traps. I felt the 2 sets worked very well together because /traps was a fire and forget set and let me blast away with my pistols.
Your numbers are off a bit, Blasters got a damage buff a while back so Corruptor base damage is about 2/3 of Blaster base damage. Still, can't go wrong with a corruptor or defender.
As for TA, its pretty solid. It's kindof an awkward set but it can be very powerful. I say awkward because it's a little bit all over the place and some of the numbers could be better IMO. You've got the potential for massive debuffing and damage though. Got a guide for it (and all the other Corr secondaries) in my sig if you want to take a look.

That said, went with /traps, know it from my MM, and since I am a baby child, I will stick with what I know.
just a few odd power choices, atm, seems i'm only skipping pistols (lol quick attacks), and Suppressive fire (Mag 3 stun seems pointless with poison trap and seeker drones at the ready) and time bomb (possibly triage beacon) from traps, power pools are looking to be Flight (.. I like fly as my travel power sue me, it's thematic), Speed (Wee hasten), Leadership (Manuvers for def + recharge) and invi (stealth hijinks, plus two places for lotg recharge -- I got 4 of them yesterday from drops/reward rolls, and my dom already has 5 slotted so.. \o/ free recharge)
Problem is.. what APP, and.. level 2. Triage beacon vs empty clips. only guide I could find suggests skipping empty clips, but it was written pre-inherent fitness, so.. seems kind of an open power choice atm, and triage beacon is painfully weak so.. it's either a little more support or a difficult to place cone (Which, my main is a dom, I'm quite good at combat-positioning, so.. not that much of an issue)) any suggestions?
For me, I skipped suppressive fire. It didn't fit in with my corr. I am sure others take it. I skipped the beacon too. Never got any good mileage on it.
My corr went with the PPP mace mastery just to fit the theme like traps. Between the pet and mace powers, they went better for my concept. I always felt the PPPs fit my corruptors better than the APPs. But if you are looking max out for IOs, I am not sure which APP would be best.
