This. I think people tend to overlook the insane capabilities Dark Melee has.

I've had mistells, sure. But I think the one that became most memorable for my friends was actually over TeamSpeak while playing CoH, and it was spoken by my wife. I wear a headset when playing, so she can't hear if I'm talking to others over TeamSpeak when she occasionally walks through the room. One time, she came into the room to make a joking remark. It was an inside joke we'd been saying back and forth, in reference to prison humor. Anyway, she came into the room and yelled, "I'm gonna (fornicate) you in the (prosterior)!" (censored for obvious reasons) while I had been holding down the push-to-talk button.
Needless to say, my friends had a good time making jokes about who wore the pants in our relationship for quite a while. -
Quote:Well, using a Tanker to solo an AV is doable. I've done Battle Maiden with my Shield/DM tanker. Be ready to spend a good 20-30 minutes doing so. I just don't think Axe will be able to cover it, so if you don't mind switching sets, you can do it.How do people feel about Ice/Ax/Energy as an AV killer? I'm thinking if I can get a moderate amount of recharge (haste plus io bonuses) and a huge amount of end reduction (stamina, plus procs, plus io bonuses, plus energy absorption, plus conserve power, plus -- maybe -- recovery serum), the huge amount of damage the ax lays out can probably work down the AV's hp, even against his ungodly regeneration.
Your biggest concern, high enough DPS, can be covered with both AAO and Soul Drain (and, of course, a lot of recharge). All you have to do is have plenty of mobs to keep your damage saturated.
Your second concern, staying alive, is easy to achieve with IOs and soft-capping all positional defenses.
And endurance wise, you can have stamina and Dark Consumption. Also, slot for decent end reduction. -

It's kind of inherent to the term. Of course, if there are no replies there's also no indication of people being irritated/angered nor is there much in the way of disruption.
M'mmmm, BBQ. -
Not a lot of in depth info, but OMG are those animations sweet! MUST HAVE NAO!!!

Quote:*looks at Snow Globe's post count*I should hope I'd not be out at 10:50pm, as I tend to need my sleep. I look at the forums (and a few other things) before I go to bed.
Yeah, gonna stand by my pot-calling-kettle-black insinuation.
As for being a poor artist or a rich designer, I'd rather just be good. Comic Sans in the design world, wouldn't be the way to be that. -
Quote:I don't understand. LaserJesus's post seemed to be somewhat jovial to me, while also pointing out the overuse of a badly designed font when so many better options are available. Yet you seem to get in a twist over perceiving him to be in a twist. So much so that you want to post in Comic Sans now just to spite someone. Who's taking things too seriously now?Comic Sans is designed not to be taken seriously and, given how serious you are about the subject, I think you really should relax before you have a heart attack or something.
Taking the time to ridicule others on a forum board in defense of a TYPEFACE doesn't make you look like you get out much either. -
Quote:It's okay, just know that once you admit there's a problem, then the healing can begin.I never understood the hatred for Comic Sans.
I can read it just fine. It doesn't bother me.
As an art director, there's nothing that convinces me of the world's impending doom more so than when client wants to see comic sans used on a project. -
Quote:With all due respect, it does say "New GR Info". I see only re-posted info. I'm not ranting, I promise, but it's certainly mislabeled and disappointing. Granted, marketing information should be let out slowly to help build and keep interest in the game. I think I've said so in a post before (especially if you don't want competitors ripping of your ideas while you're still in development). But it's not a good marketing move to say you have new info that isn't new. With all due respect to you, my fellow posters: the game isn't coming out until August 17th; it would be foolish to give out all the information at once. As a matter of fact, it would be foolish to give out all the information regardless of the circumstances.
*edit* Also, story background info (such as what this update is) 1.5 months before the drop date won't hurt anybody. -
Quote:/headdeskBuild has been posted.
So, if I was on a TF with a team of 8, and I asked them if I could solo the final AV, you are saying it's not a proper solo because I'm on a team. Even though it was only me healing, debuffing, buffing and doing the damage?
Yeah, totally missed that build post. It's been one of those days.
If no one did anything in any way, shape or form to help you, and you weren't relying on them, then I'd say you still solo'd the AV. But if you need a teammate to make it happen, then I'd question the solo-ability of it. -
Am I missing something? This just seems like rehashed information from Tyrant's page, and a few still shots from one of the GR videos for zone images. Not to be ungrateful, but this doesn't look like new information.

It's sort of a catch-22. It's limiting your power-options from your primary, but at the same time, requires a body (which has to be in team-mode to work, correct?). Maybe post your build for suggestion to help cap the defense and still get the recharge you want.

Quote:I use a Shield/Elec tanker, with soft-cap defense and 62.5% global recharge. I would have gone scrapper, but I like to use the toon for tanking as well. If you're just gonna farm, go scrapper. I've found that the energy resist on Rikti isn't too much to worry about. With a high-enough recharge, Shield Charge/Lightning Rod combos can clear out large cave rooms at a decent pace on a +0/x8 setting. And that was on a Tanker. What AT and power set combinations would be "best" for farming Borea missions in the Rikti War Zone?
edit: If you're going shield, watch out for some of those Mentalist. Their unpositioned attacks can sneak up on you. -
Sometimes. When he/she gets out of line or decides to scrank at inappropriate times. You have to get tough with them if you love them, right?
Serious answer: A lot of my tanks do, because I'm going for Weave and the soft-cap. But in all honesty, it's not a "needed" thing. It's certainly an optional power. -
I just picked up a Soulbound Allegiance on hero side. I was thinking of just selling it, but after hearing the news I'm wondering if maybe I should wait to sell it since MM's will help to sweeten the demand. Thoughts?

Quote:Well, then. RP-wise, you can't purchase goods from other players who do use the market. Whether they prove to you that they legitimately found the item themselves or not. Because openly supporting a seemingly corrupt marketplace makes them corrupt as well.In order for this state of affairs to persist, it must be the case that Wentworth's is openly corrupt and is being protected by the government -- which is simultaneously refusing to recognize the Rogue Isles, embargoing and giving support to the Phalanx's private war against such, etc. Which makes no sense. It doesn't make much sense that heroes would knowingly market their Weapons Of Mass Destruction components through a company known to be doing business with superhuman terrorists, either, but the average player doesn't give a fig for such trifles as world consistency.
That being the case, I can haz your stuffs? -

Quote:The problem with this argument is that it fails to take so much into account. Fewer produced goods on the BM come from a lower amount of villains being played than heroes. And one reason for that could be that the market is a deterrent. Then there's the fact that with GR's release, side-switching will be going on, and over time (probably not that long of a period either) production among Hero AT's and Villain AT's could end up leveling out.Except that the reason many are so happy about the merger is the Red market wasn't producing enough stuff that people wanted. Therefore, combining the market means more people wanting stuff, but a smaller percentage of stuff being produced.
What we will likely see is a sudden, sharp rise in prices, followed by a slow decline to a stable (well, as stable as can be expected) price that is higher than the Blue Side's current prices and lower than those currently on the Red Side.
So, basically, a little bad for the Blues a lot of happy for the Reds (meaning characters, since most players play both sides). All in all, this is likely a push for me (and most people who regularly play both sides), my Reds can get stuff they want for less, my blues are fairly well established and can buy what they need (within reason) for the most part.
Also, does this argument take into account recipes/enhancements/salvage produced from the player base as a whole, or does it just look at what's on WW and what's on the BM? Among all players, the productivity stays the same. The only difference now is that you don't have a divider to cloud your observations. -
So when a hero takes a drop from someone he defeated that's not considered stealing. But when a villain does, it is? Since everything on the BM is gained by doing the exact same things that build up WW, what's the difference in the label? Even through RP standards that's weak arguing.
