Quote:Is the federal defecit something you're contributing to?I also believe the federal deficit is out of control but I am not about to give all my money to the government.
If you believe the market inflation is as bad as you say, then using the market and making billions off of it (especially in excess of what you obviously need) only makes you a hypocrite.
Honestly, if you're that upset with the system, why take part in it so much? You seem to have no problem using it to your advantage. You boast of the rewards you reap, then turn around and condemn people you claim to be part of a massive deceptions about the market. You feign concern for the new player base, but you're not actually doing anything to help them. If you're really as worried about new players being turned off by the market as you say, then write a guide on how to use the market. If you know as much as you think you do, then surely you can give them the guidance needed to stear the market. -
I'm not sure what my experience with new players that I know personally has anything to do with not being able to know the exact amount of inlfation that has taken place. All I'm showing is that any new player can still enjoy the game without having uber-millions/billions. Are you suggesting new players should be able to slot purples and pvp IOs out the gate?

Quote:Sorry you had a bad run in with someone who was probably just aggitated. Not having been there, it's hard to tell which side of the story is "more true." Did anyone on the team tell you WHY your build sucked? Any specific reasons like, and this is an example, "LOLz on no mez protection." If they couldn't at least give you a reason, odds are, someone was venting and you were there.Okay about an hour ago I was on a team where I was one of two melee toons (the other one was a stalker) and one of the people (not the team leader) said my brute sucks.
Now, if they gave reasons, it may be in your interest to figure out from the community if there are power choices that could be different. That's completely up to you, of course. Maybe you like your powers and you're aware of they qualities good or bad. In which case, make some friends with people you've enjoyed teaming with and keep playing with them. Sometimes it's all about having people you can play with, and a build is completely secondary to that. -
Q: You know what's funny?
Quote:A: Someone who would have you believe the rate of inflation is going out of control, but is obviously unwilling to take the step towards reducing inflation by burning all of their inf. That is, of course, if they we're being completely honest to begin with. While I have about 70 billion inf stored, I have over 200 billion in IOs stored. Every 1% rise in the overall price of things nets me 1.3 billion inf for doing nothing -
Quote:You believe a lot of things that many have already found comical.I believe you are likely wrong and I am certain you have nothing to back that up.
Of the friends I've turned on to the game, most have been overwhelmed enough with the mechanics and figuring out playstyles to even be bothered with IOs. Sure, IOs sound good to them, but what good is it delving into them when they don't even know how something works on SOs?
Maybe it's been too long for you to remember what it's like being new to the game, but the friends I've played with all had plenty on their hands to do with just getting to know the game. As veteran players, many of us plan out a character from beginning to end with Mids and it all makes sense to us. Someone who really wants to learn the game won't just take a power because you tell them to, they want to figure it out on their own. I prefer a population of new players willing to learn how to play before wanting all the shiniest things they wouldn't know what to do with. They tend to stick around longer.
Most of the time, while leveling new players and showing them the ropes, they've come across a very nice drop to help them stay financially sufficient for SOs and then some. By the time they've got a 50, they've got enough to at half-way IO out a toon, if not more. -
Quote:New players coming in aren't going to be conncerned with getting purples and PVP IOs. By the time they've gotten the game figured out and leveled a character (without PLing) to 50, they'll have found enough drops to seed they're first build. At which point, they'll have plenty of means for getting a good build without purples and PVPs. It's been shown in the forums that anyone with even limited play time can go from 0 to over a billion on a level 50 in a week. That's plenty for making a decent build. From my perspective it looks like the devs have given up on attracting new players. You toss in the new 84 month badge which is an invitation to manipulate market items, its daunting to new players coming in. Its especially bad for new players that didn't come in to play the market but did come in for a superhero game.

Quote:Perfect knowledge may not be needed, but more data than you'll ever have access to is. For inflation to be accurately determined, you'd need to know the average amount of inf spent per transaction. There's no way for you to quantify that, so anything you say aside from "There is inflation" is talking out your ***. At best, you can say rarer items have greatly inflated in value while more accessible items have remained at a steady rate of increase or stayed the same.I made two statements in this thread. I count on the inf to be worth less as time passes and the claim that that the inflation rate exceeds the minimum condition (26% compounded annually) for hyper inflation. Perfect knowledge isn't required for either one of those. If it is you might want to take it up with BLS.
Quote:I also made the observation that talking about off market fixed price items is not relevant to any conversation about inflation. -
Quote:Ok, so 30-34 is high. But 36-50 is not. 5 levels out of 21 does not represent hyperinflation across the board.Look I listed 5 or 6 items that had gone through large price increases. Of those items one had just suffered a price collapse. You picked the one item that collapsed. Of that one item at the time you picked your exemplars there were many that were completely unavailable.
Everything on the market goes through swings from high to low. If you are going to compare, you have to compare high to high, low to low. If you compare Low to High or High to Low its not going to tell you much about the price trend.
Quote:So your position now is "If you can't know everything about the market you can't say anything about it ?" -
Quote:I think a lot of people did. But with all the level 50s generating influence much faster than they generate purples, I don't think it's that surprising. Was also expecting purple prices to take a bigger dip than they did.
The other side of that (and this can only be conjecture) is that some of the mentality behind the new Alpha content has driven players to max out their toon as best they can. For some people, having purples is the way to do that. It's also going to allow for faster PL situations, allowing more people to get to 50 faster, and wanting more purples. -
If you care to explain how only levels 30-33 negate the remaining levels CI's are available at, then you might actually have a point there.
Quote:Normally its always best for people to check these out for themselves but in cases like yours its well worth it to make it blindingly clear -
Quote:You still have the ability to neglect the majority of the market (i.e. the overwhelming number of CIs selling for 2-5 million compared to your small margin in the 30-33 level range). You still have that magic ability to miss everything that doesn't support your position

Quote:Impossible! A_F clearly has proven that hyperinflation is taking place. That would mean Pangeans have to sell for 6-9 million now! Clearly, your findings are fabricated.EDIT: I found another data point from May '07:
"If something says it needs "Pangaean Soil", at the moment you have to be a 3-millionaire to get it. " Huh, four-year-old typo.
/sarcasm
Quote:(I find the "100% in three years" measurement a little odd, considering that sunrise to sunrise in Paragon City takes about an hour. Internet time is not realtime.) -
Quote:First: You "magically" missed every CI that didn't support you were saying as well. It's ok for you to do, but not others? Especially when the ones I listed greatly outnumber yours?Hey you magically managed to miss every price on crushing impacts that didn't support what you were saying, maybe you believe that arguing there isn't inflation because fixed price commodities didn't inflate is valid as well
Second: How more plainly can we say that we all know there is inflation. Just not the hyperinflation you and the OP are stuck on? -

I wouldn't say it's dying, just taking a vacation. I think it over-saturated the market, and the general masses had their fill. Odds are, there's plenty of new Space Sci-Fi to find, just not in the mainstream.

Quote:So, if I miss one level of enhancements, I'm cherry picking. If you miss all the other levels beside that one, it's only because.....?Your day to buy a lottery ticket then. You just managed to randomly miss data points that contradict you.
Sorry, but you can't call me a cherry-picker without having been even worse at it.
Quote:And btw you used to be able to buy all the level 30s for less than a mil. -
Quote:Distance myself from what? I wasn't the one to bring up TO/DO/SO enhancements. I didn't defend them either.Golf clap. What a nice way to try and distance yourself.
But not quite as nice as this
How bout you tell everyone why you felt so strongly about this you forgot the number 35 existed ?
Sorry, I just randomly selected levels. I don't have a lot of the 40s either, but I doubt they're selling for 10 million. Never-the-less, you have only level 35 enhancements to back up your claim, when you clearly said before:
And frankly, what does it matter if lvl 35 IOs are 10 million if you have 34 and 36 as excellent options? Enhancement values are practically the same, and if you're worried about exemplaring, then the level 34 is just fine.
Face it, you're the one cherry picking at this point.
As has been mentioned more than once in this thread, no one said inflation isn't occurring. We've only said that hyperinflation is a false assessment of the situation. So again, why are you all bunched up? -
Quote:Man, you're still desperately clinging onto the TO/DO/SO defense that no one's tried to argue for the past 2 pages? While people shred apart your arguments everywhere else?Sorry this is the same thread where people are trotting out SO enhancements and saying there is no inflation ?
I don't think he's going to actually say what's got him so bunched up. Coming out and actually stating your position would be "dumbing it down." -
Thanks for the image that reveals no one is spending more than 3.5 million for that CI enhancement. We're you trying to prove hyperinflation with that image?
I have some images, too. They're not very helpful for you're argument either.
Notice that the doubled pricing you swore by doesn't seem to be showing up. Some of the higher levels ones we're all sold within the same day, while the lower level ones date back by a couple of weeks in some places. While some people may be willing to spend 10 million, many don't. And if the 2-5 million you quoted from 3 years ago is even accurate, then this shows nothing close to hyperinflation. -
Quote:Hmm, I checked one of the CI Triples at multiple levels, and saw a consistent 3-5 million range. I'll post pics in the morning when I have PS to help me splice them into one image. There are several crushing impacts sold for 10 to 20 million in the levels 30~33. I think that's hardly an intelligent marker for inflation given the recent change in focus towards high level content. Anyway, a lot of the price trends I see people talk about here are not totally incorrect, they're just too isolated to describe larger market trends.
-
Quote:I'm just going to call straight up shenanigans on this right now. I checked CI enhancements just now and all level 50 CI's are selling within 2-5 million. So if you're more-than-likely made up number of what they "used to go for" is true, then there's been no inflation what-so-ever.Crushing impacts used to go for 2-5 mil now they are regularly going for 10+
Unless lvl 50 Doctored Wounds only sold for 2-3 million (which leaves little room for profit), they haven't doubled. The only one worth mention is Heal/Recharge at an average 15 million. Seeing as most people are concered with heal and recharge for heal powers, that's not exactly surprising.
Thunderstrikes (all 6 at lvl 50) are between 3-5 million.
Touch of Death is going for 20-50 on most of the lvl 40s. Last time I bothered getting a set, I believe the pricing history was actually a little more than that.
I'd check all the others, but at this point, it's pretty obvious you're not basing anything you've said on facts. -
So, does this concept mean you can't take self healing powers, or utility powers like End Drain or Consume?
-
Sounds like most bids take quite some time to ever go through. Last time I looked, I remember seeing plenty of bids with zero for sale, and history records of 2 billion straight across the board. And that was looking at different times. Granted, some bids could be below the inf cap, but I don't see it affecting the waiting period very much.
I'm weighing the benefits of the PVP IO in my build (it won't be a soft-cap build) and I'm starting to think the 3% won't be missed. Maybe I'll just sell it then.
