    Flaming Zombies!

They scale powers between MM and Corr, MMs seem to get 75% power scaling to me (at least that's what Painbringer is - 50% to 37.5% dmg boost from corr to MM). Actually from looking, resist boosts seem to stay constant across the 2 ATs, so 15% base res boost from the shields may be possible, although I'd expect the dmg boost from forge to drop to 22.5% (but still castable on 4 pets (or allies) at once with just hasten(but still without IO recharge boosts), not to mention the extra 15% (most likely) tohit boost which that entails, sexy times tbh). Looks to me like a great set to have as an MM tbh, and with Heat Exhaust in any form, watch out AVs, particularly with Bots, -regen abound.

    I16 and Farming?

The biggest effect felt by this particular QoL change is to stop NON-farmers from being annoyed and otherwise peeved by filling requests. So I for one can't really see what your issue is. People who want to set missions for higher numbers of players than they have are being done all the time, the only difference is that people who aren't farming are inconvenienced by filling or at least a request to fill.

I like this change as a player, casual farmer and fill request recipient.

I guess that would be the difference if he tried that stuff in EU then.

I think had he done it here you and your mates would have killed him enough to sicken him of his experiment

Also i dont doubt for a minute he was regularly removed from the zone by the US pvp'ers, its just saying he was wiped the floor with didnt fit in with his rubbish report.

    [/ QUOTE ]

But wouldn't they have posted screenshots and logs for it on the forum? If he became that unpopular, surely there'd have been a lot of PvPers seeing it as a challenge to take him down, and then share their victory with everyone on the forum?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    1. Naming and shaming is banned on the forums

and 2. No one would have bothered if he was a joke of a pvper (which to me it seems like he was)

Killing him was not a way of earning respect from peers but a way of deriving personal pleasure it would seem to me.

Swatting an annoying fly isn't the kind of thing you brag about to your mates.
  7. I guess that would be the difference if he tried that stuff in EU then.
  8. And that's what makes him hated by the community, like someone who embezzles money from a bank to get rich, dodging social conventions to achieve a goal. The difference that there's a real life law prohibiting this behaviour shouldn't be a factor as only the sociology is being examined.
  9. Also it seems like his entire article was about the breaking of social convention and the reaction it draws from others, and yet he completely failed to explore the reasons why tp droning is considred 'uncool', namely that it defeats the point of pvp (the actual versus part, forcing someone to die at the hand of a robot from which there is no escape while not actually dealing any damage of your own isn't what pvp should really be, and I doubt he had much fun doing it unless he was deriving pleasure from angering others (if so he should probably be analysing himself rather than the other pvpers in the zone (I say others, but... yeah)). Using a tactic against which there is no defense is a fine use of the noggin in a real life battle situation, maximise enemy losses and minimize your own, but in a game where the fun is in the fighting not the victory, I see it as an annoyance tactic rather than a calculated one to induce victory. The convention exists because without drone teleporting, the zone and all the pvpers in it are given the space and freedom to practice abilities with their own skills, and with each side (an at least slightly) fair chance for victory. This is why I think breaking up the lil 'fite clubs' (the bits where enemies stand around chatting in pvp zones seemingly to me for no reason) with a small or large team (with the right sets to incur totally minimal losses) would have been more interesting subject matter.

It's a similiar (albeit mildly) deal to why murder or thievery are forms of behaviour which result in ostracisation. The concept of a human having no right to kill another human for his pleasure or at his whim is a positive social dynamic which allows society to function in much greater safety, allowing for faster and greater growth of mankind in its social interaction and allowing the furtherment of individual pursuits. Thievery is deemed wrong as it goes against the global concept of possession. If a possession belongs to someone, no one has the right to take it without their permission. This too is a well thought out social convention, as it allows one to ammass wealth in a phsyical sense without it being immediately taken away, and items earnt and found can remain yours without having to keep a constant watch over them.

Granted, tp droning is by far the lesser of the 3 in terms of phsyical (namely the break up of play for the victim, having to go to hospital or stop pvping all together) and emotional (the feelings of anger and depression of death in an area where you might hold some personal pride in your abilities when fighting in the regular fashion) implications (rather than just sociological ones... stupid sociology...), but that doesn't mean they don't exist or aren't worth at least noting. A lot of social conventions are around for very positive reasons, and I'd think that the more poorly thought out ones should be the ones to be challenged. Or else we might see sociology proffessors going on killing sprees or burglaries 'to see what the social implications would be'.

For instance, Twixt was able to win the zone (capture all six pillboxes for the heroes) literally hundreds of times during his year-long period of breaching play on three different servers. Twixt’s opponents, during this same period, may have won the zone, in total, less than twenty times. Twixt was normally able to defeat, on average, ten to twenty villains a night, while villains seldom killed him more than once or twice during the same period of play -- and, more often, didn’t kill him at all.

    bahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

This guy seems to think that the biased youngling "look at how awesome I am" exagguration (or at least very biased approximation) consititutes a scientific statement. Seems to me like a guy saying "don't hate the playa hate the game" only using scientific terminology and writing style. Seems more of an ego trip than research to me...

    "Win the zone", tbh.

EDIT: The part I am interested about is him breaking up the 'fite clubs' of warburg and suchlike. It would have been interested to see the conclusions he would draw from the response he would get fighting in a min maxed 3/4/5 man team to break up these 'events'. It's just a shame most likely lacked the skill and/or friends to pull it off and had to go with the far more easy to draw a hypothesis from. I'd also have been more inclined to believe his supposed 'mad skilz' if he'd actually documented numbers rather than just guessing. We all know what 'just guessin' means in a PvP context.... lol sociology I guess...

Execpt they lost every single when they fought those Vindicate guys, I heard they were awesome.
  13. I normally stay out of the server specific threads but I'd love to get involved in a hami raid at some point. However it's been a while since I've thought much about it, and so I was just wondering if someone could post a link here to the current tactics that are used... just so that if I got involved I'd be on the same hymnsheet and up to speed, cause I don't wanna ruin it with my own lack of knowledge.

EDIT: Lol at my tl;dr nvm :>

    I15 is a success

And then when I put it on, I suddenly got this feeling of inner peace. I can't put it into words. I feel... safe. Like this is where I was meant to be. Like I'd found the key to true happiness.

As good an excuse for epic new sig quote as any tbh.

Roll back to the mechanics and power numbers of i12 and I would rarely leave the zones/arena tbh
  17. Indeed. I think the heavy response in opposition to a graphical rehaul (or 'buff') will tell the devs that investing time and resources in such an endeavour would be an unpopular waste.

a contact randomly calling you instead of the other way round.

    [/ QUOTE ]
This I really like, adding immersion into a 'living' breathing world, in which events happen on their own instead of only whenever the player acts as a stimulus to something/someone. Even if it is just after a mission (you know about the time you get the "Your notoriety in the area has grown" business (which I think might be bugged anyway lol)) one of your contacts gives you a call and has a "Come quick!" mission which you can either rush to save the day or make sad faced apologies for not attending.

    [ QUOTE ]

Oh yeah, speaking of that, I'd add a feature so you could pick the person you're supposed to be escorting to safety up instead of having to wait for them to follow you to the exit.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Oh dear god yes. A sweet piggy back animation would do just the trick here methinks. To the clipping be damned! (though probably would have to change to a sit on neck thing for granites and Huge peepz, with optional shackles for forced escorts... I'm asking for way too much aren't I? :/)

Eight Sonic/Rad Defenders! All with the Leadership pool!
They'd wipe through mobs in seconds.

If they can solo Rikti Plyons in under 5 minutes, and solo Lusca and every other GM, can you imagine the power of eight?

    [/ QUOTE ]

You mean Radiation Emission/Sonic blast? Bit lacking in AoE tbh. And where do the res buffs come from? In my opinion if they got caught off guard with a really harsh ambush they'd probably wipe tbh, or at least a lot higher chance of doing so than something with targeted heals and resist/defense/both buffs.
  21. If it's "unbeatable" rather than max-efficiency, I'd have to include an empath in there to be honest. After playing almost only CoV for a few months now, doing a LGTF with my vg on my empath troller, it was so ridiculously easy, empaths are still the best thing by far at stopping things dying, and with any amount of other buffs (from pains/thermals/sonics), a team finds itself never dying despite any obstacles.

So my team would consist of:

    2 Sonic/* Defenders
    */Thermal Corruptor
    Empath of any kind
Ice/SS tanker (to maximise use of resistance buffing)
    3 Fire/Fire Blasters.

I think that team would see few problems in terms of team damage, with the majority of members at the resist cap with 2 healers, probably the best tanker primary for agro management. AVs would take longer than teams with more rads... but with 2 sonic siphons, a Heat Exhausta and a Melt Armour, not to mention 3 fire blasters wailing on therm (coupled with the minimum risk of death across the team), they shouldn't cause many problems.
