Ah. That might be part of the problem then. I think that Xanthos hasn't really been making the distinction and lumping everything under "defensive abilities".

Defence lowers your chance to get hit, while resistance lowers what you get hit for? Is that right? so in general defence is better?

We've been looking at Combat Jumping and Acrobatics, as suggested here, and that seems to be a better option.

I've mostly been playing my Brute and trying to figure that out. I haven't really looked into what Xanthos' Blaster has as options and limitations. That's why I started this thread.

What would be really useful would be some advice along the lines of: For DP/Devices you should focus on X/Y/Z. For example, for my /regen Brute the advice was to focus on +Recharge. Some similar advice would help us a lot to figure out where to take my friend's blaster. I think at the moment the build is a mix of whatever defensive abilities seemed a good idea at the time, given that surviving is hard, in solo play and sometimes teamed, even though I try to tank the hardest hitters.

I want to agree with this. I played another very big MMO for years and switched to CoH a few months back. I wish I found it sooner, it's more more a game that suits my style. I've always liked super heroes more than fantasy.

One of the major things I like about this game, is that it's a lot less strict in the requirements of what you need to join something. Often you can just jump into the fray without much worry about level or gear requirements. I also like that it's a lot less focussed on endless grinds, although all MMOs have those to some degree.

I have more money than time, and do buy things like this on the PM as well. I'm figuring that in that way I might reach Tier 9 before the game goes offline and actually have some fun playing it instead of grinding for inf. I can then spend what little inf. I have on the stuff I can't buy. In the mean time my euros go to supporting the continued development of this game.

I could just play with basic IOs or SOs instead but I just discovered Mid's and find that building and designing a character is a lot of fun.

Basically to me 1000 points is lunch money, while a billion inf. would take days and days of grinding which also could be spent enjoying the game on my current character or playing an alt.

To me 1000 points is easier to get than 10 million inf. I will never use sites that would sell in game currency, I never have in the other MMOs I've played, but if Paragon allows me to send them a little money so I can enjoy the game more, then I think everybody wins.

And to those saying that it's unfair competition: This game isn't a competition, and there is no way to "win" it. And these enhancements are inferior to the ones you get in game, so if feeling "better" is important to you, then you still can.

I'd much rather enjoy the game than spend time grinding for inf.

Yes, it stops you from building if the number goes negative.

I've seen this several times. I think it's got something to do with placing expensive items/rooms. It always seems to be subtracting the cost twice.

145+50 for the room and mainframe = 195.
113+82 = also 195.

My theory checks out with the story.

I think that describes my part of the Netherlands as well. The local comics store still carries quite a selection of mostly US comics though.

Only OSX Lion gives you the option to merge, older versions of OSX will ask you if you want to replace the existing content and will do exactly that.

Yeah, I've seen that, but mostly on older versions of OSX, like Tiger. Not so much on Snow Leopard and Lion. And mostly after first putting the laptop to sleep and then disconnecting the external display.

I haven't played a lot of CoH on Snow Leopard, but I can't say I've seen anything like this on there.

I've now played to level 40 and I have seen all wing recepies drop at least once. You can also see on the market that the droprates are reasonably high, most of the costume wing recepies sell for 1000 inf or less. The only one I've seen that's worth anything is the Rocket Boots, they go for around 100.000 inf.

But as it's random, your luck might vary.

Thanks for answering. I do find it odd, that for a game that puts so much emphasis on the Hero-Villain differences.

If you enable pop-ups, it will show you what you're hovering over.

I am going to try to look into the graphics not showing up glitch, but that might take a few months so in the mean time this will have to do. I'm currently having some important deadlines at my work, and that's what I need to focus on.

I'm a newbie and we ran into a group fighting in Cap au Diable and joined having no clue what was going on. Nemesis spawned but we didn't kill him.

We tried that, my blaster friend has stealth, but they just ended up following me, even if I sprinted away from them for a while. It's the trick I usually use, but couldn't get it to work here.

The Fake Nemeses and War Hulks were no problem. It was mostly the exploding robots that did the damage with AoE, my Brute would tank the bosses easily. It was just that we had no healing between the fights. We even tried shooting them with the Arrows of Love, as they stated to give +Regen.

We've had similar problems before on some missions in First Ward, especially the one where you need to protect Nadia.
