  1. I can't comment on the specific games mechanics (life is way too short for that sort of thing) but I do like the idea here.

I'm not in a suitable position to enter the debate on whether or not it could (or would) be implemented, but I like the idea.

It's ideas like this that keep things fresh - even if they can't be directly implemented in the current engine, it still gets the creative thoughts rolling. Constructive comments (either negative or positive) are all part of the process, especially on the suggestions forum, so don't be disuaded by any criticism (if I've spelt that correctly) - it's all good feedback!

As someone who dabbles in a bit of piste action in RL, (off to the Alps tomorrow!! ) I'd love to see all of the above suggestions.
  3. I've just had my <bleep> well and truly kicked by an Elite Boss in the second mission in Sister Airlia's Power from the Past Arc.

Things were going swimmingly until I encountered an EB that was 5 levels higher than my char (a lvl 35 Stalker). Now this rings a bell, as I observed a similar bug during i13 beta, on the corresponding hero arc. In fact, it looks like this was fixed hero side. From a thread in the Training Room:

    [ QUOTE ]
    * Fixed issue where a Level 35 Hero could get a mission during the Stolen Power story arc to fight a level 40 arch villain. The level range for the arc has been changed to 40 – 50 to prevent this.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Unless I'm mistaken, I guess the bug persits on the villain side as well?

I mean, I don't claim to be the greatest of players, but I doubt many could take on an EB 5 levels higher than them, at least not without some help. I was soloing, with the mission set to 'villainous'.

The mission failed, because soon after I face planted, so did the 'hostage' Ghost Widow (who, it would seem, is not as tough as she'd have you believe )

I don't know, perhaps this is WAI - maybe you're not meant to 'complete' the mission - the arc is still continuing, with a slight twist on the breifing for the 3rd mission (compared to what's listed on ParagonWiki).

Filed a bug report, but just wondered: Am I being completley daft here? (It happens a lot more than I'd care to admit these days...)

Perhaps this already been discussed elsewhere, so apologies for covering old ground.
  4. I'd often thought that the CoH lore would fit an engine similar to that of Deus Ex - which was pretty much a FPS/RPG combo anyway, and one of my all time top games.

You'd essentially still be doing the RPG type stuff you currently do online, only with the FPS element and story led mechanics of Deus Ex.

Perhaps it's a bit too similar to what we currently have, but when I rolled my first flying blaster, I couldn't help but think how I'd use the alt in some of the classic Deus Ex acts.

You could retain the character creation elements of the current game, perhaps even having the option to port an alt over from the online game.

I really should do something more worthwhile with my time...

    Tick Tick Tick...

boom (shake shake, shake the room)

The various members of team RoboTank:

    Area51
    Target
    Psychic Mayhem
    Archie Gremlin
    Ninja of Shadows
    Defempathy
    Infflamable
    Old School Sniper
    Firey Storm

Thanks again to all, and apologies if I forgot anyone (it's an old age thing)
  6. RoboTank

    Rikti RAGE!!

Yep, definitely good fun, well organised MCX.

Big thanks to those on my team who put up with my blithering idiot levels of skill with flight / group flight. I really was trying to keep tabs on where people were. honest....

I'd say if anything group fly was still a bit too slow, even slotted as I had. I don't think i actually managed to physically hit any drop ship, as I couldn't get close enough for a melee attack, although hopefully i kept close enough for the blasters on my team to get hits in.

If we do this again, post i13, it'll be perhaps easier, as we can all purchase jet packs from the shard, and not have to rely on Group Fly.

Again, thanks MCX for organising this. Got some great pictures, will try to upload in the next day or so.

    Right, where's me coffee?....
  7. RoboTank

    Rikti RAGE!!

    Ok, no worries.

I had a backlog of respecs on RoboTank anyway, so he's had the op, and is now kitted out with group fly, and is ready for action. Faceplanting that is...
  8. RoboTank

    Rikti RAGE!!

Aha, well in that case I'm back on for this.

Good show! I'll be bringing along RoboTank again (sadly, the only toon I have above lvl35 - too much altohism)

If needed, I can spec in group fly. Let me know if it's needed.
  9. RoboTank

    Rikti RAGE!!

Regretably, I'm gonna have to take a rain check on this. I won't be around for the hero side event, and although I'm available for the villain side event, I've not had chance to get any of my red side chars up to lvl35.

Pity, but the real life engine wins again...

Good luck with it all folks.

Edit: I just noticed the thread subject has changed. Omega - can you confirm the date for the hero side event ?? Sunday 16th or Monday 17th ?
  10. Hi all

I've recently been having quite a lot of connectivity issues - the usual "Lost Connection to Mapserver " message. I'd say more often than not the disconnection is long enough for me to be booted back out to the login screen. Sometimes, it's not - and I eventually get back into the game, but by then I've usually faceplanted (it's funny how the bad guys don't politely wait for me to reconnect before picking up the fight )

Anyway, I strongly suspect it's a hardware issue on my side of things (I am sitting behind an overly complicated Sisco router + firewall) but I just wanted to see if anyone else was having similar issues?

I don't know - this may well be a well discussed known current issue, and I might be covering old ground. If that's the case, then apologies for that. I did trawl some of the recent threads, but couldn't see any specific mention of this.

Whats even more annoying is that the respec text says, visit either the trainer OR type in /respec...which does not in fact work. Le very annoying. Can that be fixed/made easier?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I've always thought that the /respec command worked with free respecs (such as those given out with an Issue release), but you always have to visit the relevant trainer for respecs that you've earnt?

I might be wrong though, but this is how I've always interpreted things. Perhaps the help system just needs rewording to clarify things.

I'd agree with the sentiment though - putting the trainer in Nerva does make it tougher for low level villains to access.

Sorry for derailing, I'll go back to my corner now.
  12. RoboTank

    Rikti RAGE!!

Sounds like a great idea Omega. I'm tentatively up for this, dependant on specific dates etc...

None of my toons have group fly though (Only one of my toons has any kind of flight) but happy to take on the usual roll of cannon fodder.

RWZ has a minimum level of 35 right? - just so I know who to bring along
  13. A basic hole-in-map bug, but I managed to get ShadowCall on the 'outside' of an Arachnos lab.

    The Void
    The Void 2

The bug was persitant - every time I reset the mission, the same hole was present.

Actually, it was kind of interesting - not much to be gained from it, apart from perhaps being able to explore the free space, but it was fun teleporting around the void. Kind of looked like the sub base from Deus Ex (now that was a cool map)
  14. Thanks for a great event Omega - was really good to see all those folks gather in Kings Row. Most of it was a blur of FX, and I mainly just stood in the middle of the Titans trying to draw aggro (have no idea if it worked though )

Got a couple of badges from the GM hunts as well, but to be honest I was just happy to be involved. I kept getting disconnected in Croatoa, so called it quits in the end. Hope you all got some major GM bashing done...

Thanks also to everyone who turned up. Really was great to see so many heroes online. This event has renewed my interest in the game (I had been getting a bit bored by it of late).

Will definitely try to make the next event. Who knows, I might even have figured out how to quit a TF by then...

    Edit: Corrected shocking spelling
  15. What's the plan for this evening? Just be logged on and head for KR at 9.30pm, or wait in PD for a /tell ?

Sorry, I might have missed some of the finer details with this. It is my first time...
  16. Ok, got it done in time. RoboTank is parked in Pocket D, with a Kronos waiting in the wings.

    Bring. It. On

    (Faceplanting, that is )
  17. I'm determined to take part in this one. I will be available for the 19th, but I've had scant chance to get Robotank through the Arc over the past fortnight. I've got about 5 of the missions done so far.

I am hoping though that I will find time to get my Kronos ready. Will let you know how I get on with this.

    Ouroboros 101

    [ QUOTE ]
They're all counted like TFs, even the single mission badge ones - so you either have to complete it, or just quit the mission like you quit a TF.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ah right, so I take it then that you can't choose to drop a mission in a TF (any TF type), in the same way that you can drop a regular (non TF) mission?

I wasn't looking to quit the TF - I was (at the time) just looking to see if I could "drop"/skip the current mission in the Arc, as it appeared to be bugged*

Anyway, like I say, I don't normally dabble with TFs. In fact, I'm only running this one so I can set a Kronos up for Robot Rampage 4

    * Turns out it wasn't bugged - I was just being thick. Again
  19. RoboTank

    Ouroboros 101

Apologies, a really basic question, but when you're on an Ouroboros mission - re running an old arc - it looks like you don't have the option to "drop current mission from contact".

Is this right? I've never really done of this TF/Ouroboros lark before, so perhaps this by design?.

Just found it odd as I had what looked like a bugged mission, and just wanted to drop it to continue with the Arc, but didn't have the option to do so.

Wasn't a big issue, just logging out and back in will reset the mission, which I'm happy with.

Sorry, as one of the old timers around here, you'd think I'd know the answer to this...
  20. Put me down as tentative bait for this

I'll be able to confirm attendance in the next week or so, but as this is the first Robot Rampage when I'm not away for the weekend, I should be up for this.

I'll be bringing along RoboTank, lvl 50 Tank. I'll re-run the Crimson arc before hand, and will have a Kronos ready.
  21. Farewell Rockjaw, good luck with whatever lies ahead
  22. Bummer !! Hope all affected by this find new roles soon.
  23. Tank - I'm happy working on my own, but can fit into a team when needed (hey, that sounds like something you'd put on a job application )
  24. I'm pretty sure you can - I've done this inadvertently myself. I orginally had the CoH DVD edition, then purchased the CoV DVD edition. I susbsequently lost both disks, so went out and bought the combined (collecters) edition.

I appear to have access to all the 'bonus' content from all 3 editions.

However, I'm not sure if that's an indication of how things work, but I'm sure one of the others around here will be able to confirm
  25. Yeah, it really is down to the AT of your character, and the EB you're facing I think.

For example, RoboTank, a Eng/Inv tanker, really struggled against the Automaton Positron (uber-defender?) because of his buffs/debuffs (although popping a full load of Red Pills did the trick), but on the same mission, the Automaton Manticore was a doddle (squishy blaster).

I've always found maxing out on red pills to be a good, if somewhat less gracefull, solution to most foes. (if you can't hurt it, hit it harder )

The one foe Robo just couldn't take down at all was the Madame of Mystery. Even with the temporary Psychic Cleaver, she was just healing faster than I could do damage, no matter how many red pills I popped.

Shadowcall, on the Red side, struggled a bit against Barracuda, but again popping red pills did the trick.
