Quote:I rolled up another Elec/Kin troller to join in the beta testing. I suddenly realized something that amuses me greatly that I most certainly be doing for my live version. I'm aiming to purple out the AoE mezzes, (Immob, Hold, Sleep, and Confuse) and the Gremlins but the single target hold and immob is going to get Hami'd. I'm planning on slotting Jolting Chain with a few procs. With the Musculature Radial Paragon, that's going to lead to a lot of damage, and a lot more fun.
My question is: How am I supposed to slot Kinetics on a controller? Figuring out the primary was easy, but I am totally confused when it comes to this particular secondary.
I think when all is said and done, this is going to get more playtime than my tank!
Really quickly and probably fairly incoherently cos I just woke up and have to get out the door soon...
Kinetics depends on your playstyle really, and what set bonuses you're looking to get. Off the top of my head, 3 of the powers don't take sets.
I'd 5-6 slot your heal (it's the biggest in the game along w the dark heal), 2-3 slot siphon speed (1 acc, 1-2 recharge), same with siphon power while you're leveling up. I spec out of it once I hit FS. Speed boost... even if you're not on a team those little gremlins deserve some crack! If you don't plan on teaming I'd put 1 end mod in it. 2-3 if you're going to team. ID - as a controller I'd say it's optional. If you have the slot for it, take it. I'd skip repel, as I would IR. IR is nice if you have flight as it gives you extra control with fly, but it's quite a wait level wise and you'll prob already have a travel power. Transference slotting is up to you. If you want to put a set in there, be my guest - the end mod sets work, but I just opt for speed for transference - 1 acc, 3 recharge, 1 or 2 end mod. FS doesn't take sets, so 1 acc, 3 recharge.
I can't wait for the changes so I can start bringing out the kins again!
I'm on my way to work now, but if you remind me when I get home (doing 2 hours OT) I'll see if I can shoot off a fast build in MIDS for you. -

Can you have the sausage curls without the hat?

Quote:I heard that they're called the Make Believes because they like to pretend that they play hockey. What is this Blasphemy!?!?
And you call yourself Canadian....
The Maple Leafs are perhaps the hockey team that best captures the meaning of being a Canadian. Specifically: Going up against impossible odds again and again.
Then again, it could just be pointing out rampant stupidity.... -

I'm almost sad to see this new updated change.
The complaining, whining and general nerd-raging in that thread about the change was worthy of a bowl of buttered popcorn and a large Coke. -
Hami Raid buffs just got a whole lot easier btw! Woot!
-
There was an excellent suggestion on the Defender boards- someone recommended hover for people who don't like the speed aspect - it makes it a little more maneuverable and less speedy. Don't know if you like hover or not, but I would think that if your teams you play with are anything like the ones I play on, we buff at the same time, so you'd end up missing a lot of GOOD buffs for the sake of the one you don't. Seriously, think about taking hover; try it on 1 toon and see how it works for you. If it helps, then that's an excellent work around.
-
Quote:It's not much consolation, but on my stormies, recipients of speed boost, I usually take hover to deal with the extra speed and the need for control and finesse in hurricane usage.
I also use hover for lightning storm placement. Sometimes the bolts do better coming from 15 feet up.
The hover idea is brilliant! I love it! -
It'd be nice if they made it so that you could remove a buff you didn't want by right clicking on it or something... then the people who can't deal with speed boost can remove it.
Overall though, fantastic change. I am very impressed. -
Quote:For the most part, I'm liking what there is.
I'm just hoping they don't do with the "Buff Auras" as they did with the Mastermind Upgrades. The Mastermind Upgrades went from an endurance cost with a period of time between selecting each target so as to make the cost manageable to a one-shot endurance cost that practically WIPES YOU OUT.
The endurance costs of a lot of those buffs are pretty heavy as-is, and a buffer usually winds up having to reboost the team while in the middle of a dangerous situation. It would be bad to get wiped out of energy to get everybody back up to snuff just to lose the ability to continue fighting and supporting the team.
That's why you build a toon with good recovery rates. Or, if you have someone with an endurance recovery power on the team, coordinate and have them pop it at the same time. Or Kinetic's transference. One BAMF! and your endurance is all back! -

OH. MY. GOSH.

Group Area Buffs: To make buffing easier for Teams and Leagues, these buff powers now affect all the eligible characters within a 30-foot-radius around the targeted character. (Previously, you had to target and buff each individual character to use these powers.)

* Force Field (Defenders, Controllers, Masterminds): Deflection Shield and Insulation Shield
* Kinetics (Defenders, Controllers, Corruptors): Increase Density and Speed Boost
* Sonic Resonance (Defenders, Controllers, Corruptors): Sonic Barrier and Sonic Haven
* Thermal Radiation (Controllers, Corruptors, Masterminds): Fire Shield and Plasma Shield -
Yeah, the lag was unfun - I bounced around a bit from zone to zone and found Atlas to be relatively unlaggy - so I stayed there for a bit. Then we got invaded by about 10 Synapse... all with a power suppressor, so it got unfun really fast. Little lag spike, power suppressor, surprise, you're dead. Rinse and repeat a few times til you realize it's not fun anymore.
The devs cant really do anything about the lag, but I have a suggestion for next time: Could you please, please not use the admin line for communication? Would it be possible to create an Event line that broadcasts in whatever zone you're in, instead of going through every single tab? Or make Admin removable from the chat tabs?
When I wasn't lagging, it was a lot of fun. When it was lagging.... not so muchBut I had a lot of fun when I was able to! Thanks!

My hat meets the ring. 480 words.
I know it's cliche, but from up here, people really DO look like ants! thought Riverdancer as she cruised the skies of Atlas Park. She enjoyed flying. Leaping everywhere always made her feel motion sick and rabbitesque. She'd enjoyed protecting the city much more since she took up flying it was cheaper too. She had accidentally sent herself to the hospital one day leaping off of a building that was too high for her. She'd hurt herself badly coming down and ended up landing unceremoniously in the middle of an aggressive group of Vahz. One of them had spewed that toxic goo at her and had hit her full force as she tried to bound away from them. She managed to get a few sad hops away from them before she'd had to hit her hospital transporter. No, flying was definitely the best way to travel. Less wear and tear on her favourite boots, no accidental landings and no unexpected trips to the hospital due to rough landings. Plus, there was the incredible view; you could almost think that buildings were doll houses resting on plush green velvet backgrounds like some child's play toys. Almost.
As if on queue, a sniper round flew past her making the air hiss with its passing. Oh, silly Nemesis, she said aloud as she turned to confront him before he could get another round off. There he was crouching on the rooftop frantically trying to reload his gun before she got there. One burst of speed and she was in front of him. Barely slowing she held out her hand towards him as if to plead for him to stop.
You really shouldn't have done that, you know, she admonished. I'm not going to kill you, but I am going to teach you a lesson, she continued as her hand started to glow bright green. With a snap the green ball flew from her hand and smashed into the chest of the sniper. As he flew backwards off the roof, Riverdancer gleefully shouted after him, Lesson One: It's not the fall that will kill you it's the landing! -
DOOGIE!!!!! Welcome back!

Hey Kyo, just as a suggested add-on to the Monster Hunt - you could do an all-in-one: get the exploration badges for those zones for extra merits and badges. Might get more people out that way - each zone is 5 merits plus 2 for each GM - those add up FAST.
-
Quote:Also have to add that we went 2 blooms without a single death in the league. And the deaths in the third bloom were the result of missed broadcasts, mainly my fault. But no biggie since there's no MoHami badge.
Maybe with leagues coming into play now they might look at it though! What a great idea for a badge!
