So I guess you don't take Hasten or Combat Jumping to make your builds better, but rather you just screw around with those other slots and load up on Presence pool powers? "External" powers are kind of important for one thing, and, for another, having extra power slots to throw set bonuses at can be pretty damn powerful for most characters. Two of the characters I'm using a lot these days are a Cold/Dark and a Dark/Poison - I've probably spent more on the Cold/Dark so far, and yet the Dark/Poison probably has better health and recharge thus far.
  2. Earth/Fire is mostly good for PvP because of high damage and procs and such. I've never seen a *good* PvP'r that had to rely on that broken stun to play his Earth/Fire. But yea, if you want to PvP at all, just stay away from Plant then do whatever the hell you feel like between the other two.
  3. I haven't played my Ice/Storm in 3 or 4 years, and I never PvE'd with it much, so I may be wrong. But it seems like a con of Arctic Air would also be Hurricane pushing everyone out of it's effect radius (or does AA have a bigger radius?).

rikti, at the point, you have zero clue what works and doesn't work.
justin spent the first half of i13 on a fire/storm making people cry. he spent the other half on an earth/elec.
march was extremely effective on kin during the first freedom league.
dex on his kin/elec defender made many many people cry in kickballs.

stop regurgitating the crap you hear and think about what you say before you post.

people in this game are horrible. you can pretty much make anything work, and back then we didn't even have incarnates. judgement and interface have narrowed the damage gap so that everything plays a lot more like it did in i12... it's just that people are far too dumb to see that, so they'll complain because it's cool to hate on incarnates.
Ok bro sorry I haven't kept up with this game like you have. I was under the impression that storms weren't nearly as effective as they once were and so were kins. Sorry if I was wrong, I haven't exactly played a million hours since i13. I would experiment with **** myself and form my own opinions, but it's kinda hard to win with anything when you're broke and have no means of farming PvP IOs (which seems to be the standard for anyone who has money - again, tell me in a non-dickish way if I'm wrong).

Edit: I guess I should stop posting here, since apparently anyone who quit the game for a lengthy period of time isn't allowed to talk lest they be wrong. God forbid you be like Katalyst or whoever else that is actually helpful with their posts without being an *******. I quit this game over 3 years ago and came back and moved a couple of characters to Freedom about a month ago. I feel I've been pretty humble whenever I lose a duel (which happens most of the time these days), yet whenever I ask a dumb question or make an incorrect comment you and the gang try to drive me away from this game again because people that don't know every detail of i13, i14, i15, etc. etc. are a waste of space or something. ****.

    So hard.
Well I was unaware that we were discussing PvE only, but Poison has plenty of advantages in PvE as well; only, it won't excel in what you call PvE, because apparently PvE is all about +4x8 mobs or w/e. Archvillains and such are not PvE, and apparently its not an advantage that you only really need 3 powers in Poison (2 if it ever comes out for defenders), making much more room for other useful powers.

Except, unlike the intelligent posts in this thread, you suggested we pretty much make the set twice as powerful rather than add slight tweaks.

Stop and think about that for a minute...

Dark also has a superior Rez.

Dark also has superior -Regeneration (and guess what's most important against hard single targets in this game??).

Dark also has utterly superior Heals.

Dark also has Stealth, and grants Defense and Resistance.

Meanwhile, Poison has Poison Trap and -Special. That's about all it does better than Dark.
Alright bro, meet my dark/poison in the arena with any dark miasma toon you have; I expect to lose pretty badly after all the wisdom you've just shared.
  8. tbh I miss things like my storm controllers or kins being good in the arena more than I miss zone PvP w/o TS and HD, but I know I'm the minority there.

  10. There's nothing wrong with Poison, everybody quit whining dammit.
  11. ^ This is smart.

^^ But this is just another person suggesting the devs make a set twice as powerful without debuffs. ?????
  12. I'd like to see how Storm/Fire does. Sounds fun to play.
  13. Ok yea I know nothing about that so thx <3
  14. Unless they changed something since i12 or whenever the last time I played a PB'ing Stormy, yes, PB boosts the end drain. Quite well.

Oh I see, you're absolutely right.

^ The league is over so it's pretty weird that you're still saying that bro. Insert WARE comment here.

Seriously, help me understand this because I'm fairly noobish at PvP these days; what are the advantages of being a tank with Elude when you can be a scrapper with Elude? Aren't both equally hard to hit?

PS: BattleWraith ur pretty obsessed with me bro, what gives? <3
  18. ^ This, plus reroll as a scrapper.

Honestly, I call shenanigans. You may not be able to do it at the same scale as some of the guys with the really POWERFUL computers. But you can likely support at least one alt.
Or are you still running a 2Ghz P4 with 1GB of RAMBUS memory and a GeForce 256?
I'm playing on a macbook, genius. Regardless of how powerful it is, it simply doesn't load 2 instances of CoH; you click the CoH app again and it just returns you to your first instance. And I've tried alternatives to AFK farming, thank you; they would maybe fund one or two characters a year if I wanted to fully PvP IO them.

Personally I only sell the procs everything else goes in my base for future toons and afk farming is litterally the only way to get enough of these to io a PvP toon now.
And what about us PvP'rs who can't AFK farm? Because of AFK farming, those that do it having a huge advantage over those that don't from the start; whether it helps the market or not, it still doesn't change the fact that AFK farming is the only viable way to afford all this crap anyway. I would rather AFK farming be nerfed and no one be able to afford this stuff than have the imbalance right now that gimps me from the start. I'm dueling regularly on Freedom without PvP IOs right now, and let me tell you, it's a pain in the ***.
  21. Despite the serious QQ going on here, I have to agree that it is a little disappointing that the main reason I can't keep up in this game is because I don't AFK farm.
  22. Well both resistance-based and defense-based scrappers are pretty bad if they're dying in regular PvE shenanigans with an empathy defender following them around full time, so it really doesn't matter anyway.
  23. ^An idea I actually like, well done sir.
