Freedom 1v1 Tournament 2011 - Rules/Guidelines and main thread.

***Since the tournament got pushed back I'd like to inform you that the tournament will start at 19th February and will run the whole week till February 25th when the finals will happen. This way players can schedule their matches if there is a problem for it.

Match Scheudling and Qualification:

-- The tournament will be seperated into 2 phases. Regular Season and Playoffs. Both will run for one week.

-- Regular Season will be in double round-robin format (each participant plays all others twice).
-- Players will be divided into groups of 4 players each.
-- The top 2 players with the most points in each group are going to be eligible to participate in the playoffs.
-- Points will be awarded depending on the results of the matches:

*For each win the player gets 3 points.
*For each loss the player gets 0 points.
*There will be NO SUDDEN DEATH (because its dumb) , the match will end up tie instead and provide players 1 point each.
-- All matches will be in random maps.
-- In case some players have the same points they will have to face each other again from the start.

-- There is going to be a garbled chart posted here after the regular season to see the order of the matches and who faces who.

Example : Let's say we have 8 groups A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H with 4 people each. Top 2 players are going for the playoffs. The order will be something like this

First(Group A) VS Second(Group H)
Second(Group A) VS First(Group H)
First(Group B) VS Second(Group G)
Second(Group B) VS First(Group G)
First(Group C) VS Second(Group F)
Second(Group C) VS First(Group F)
First(Group D) VS Second(Group E)
Second(Group D) VS First(Group E)



-- There will be a 2 round per matchup. Each player chooses the map he wants in 1 of the two matches and vice versa.
-- Player must win two times to get qualified or he can win the one match and tie the other one
-- If both players win 1 match each or tie both there is going to be a 3d match in a random map to determine who is going to continue. If that ends tie as well, both players will have to switch toons and do a 4th match in a random map. If both players don't have a toon to change to, then unfortunately in the 4th match Sudden Death will count.

-- Official matches will take place at 8 PM central, 9 PM eastern, Sunday

Specific dates :

Regular Season February 19th - 26th ( It will run for a week. Hopefully playoffs will last for 3 days, from Sunday to Wednesday )
Playoffs February 19th - 26th ( This will happen after Regular Season . Hopefully will start at Thursday )

Note :

When the sign ups are over, there will be given certain numbers to everyone . Numbers will be according with the numbers of the participants. Then a person who will be voted from everyone will get to call 4 numbers each time and that way all players will be divided into groups. The numbers will be posted 1 day before the sign ups end and will be revealed after the groups are done.

Match Settings:

-- Each match will be 10 minutes long, set to the following options: No heal decay, no travel suppression, small inspirations, super heavyweight.
-- Each player is allowed 1 reset within the first 30 seconds of each match. This will typically be for if players disconnect or crash. Once the reset is spent, you cannot reset the match again, unless both players agree upon resetting it. After a reset, both players must use the same toons they used before the reset.
-- If you haven't spent your reset and you want to use it during the match you can only use it if both players agree on it or if the player who wants to reset is winning. If one of the players disconnects or crashes, the match won't be able to restart if the difference in kills is 5 or more.
-- The only temp powers allowed in official matches will be arena temps bought from the arena store, no special inspirations will be allowed. Basebuffs are not allowed. Small Inspirations only.
-- Matches must start within 15 minutes of the set start time. If both players are agreeable, the start time may be delayed, no longer than 10 minutes.

Mid-match restrictions:

-- ALPHA is the only legal incarnate power in officials. If you use any other you will be automatically lose the match. (There will be observers at all matches)
-- Steam Jump/Jump Pack are banned.
-- No Ouroboros portals may be placed.
****Stalkers are not allowed to hide more than 50 - 60 secs, if that happens they lose the match.
****IN ORDER TO AVOID SLIP UPS WHERE ILLEGAL POWERS ARE USED REMOVING ILLEGAL POWERS FROM YOUR TRAY AND UNBINDING ANY OF THEM BOUND TO A KEY BEFORE OFFICIALS IS THE BEST COURSE OF ACTION.****



Other guidelines:

-- Each player must register with with at least 1 toon and 3 toons the most.
-- Players can add,replace or remove toons anytime they want till Friday 17th February.
-- Before a match, players can agree on the toons they are gonna use if they want to.
-- It's not necessary to use only one toon vs another player in every match with him/her.
-- Once registered you will be no longer able to change toons *during* the tournament.
-- NO ACCOUNT SHARING during officials. The person who owns each account must be the only person to play.
-- If a player quits the tournament he can be replaced by someone who didn't participate from the start of the tournament. You need to inform it though before the official match so you can automatically be signed up.

NOTE: All matches will have 2 observers each. If the match has been put with no observers the match will restart immediately.

No 1v1 league, a one day tournament. That's it.

Many people this week asked me if there is a chance and if some people agree to postpone the tourny for two weeks so they can use new sets and toons now with i22. Tbh I think it's going too far but if many people agree on it I can't do anything about it. What you think? Please reply as soon as you can, or else it starts this Sunday

So how long will this take Sunday? Consider the start time for EST zone players.

Also, you do realize it will kick off during prime time on Super Bowl Sunday? (pun unintended)
