1. I would like to point out that for the bind-phobic like me, there is another way to handle powers. Simply go into Options to the Keymapping tab. Down where it says Tray Slot #, I just add NumPad # in the second column as an option, including the Alt and Control additions for the second and third trays. Team member selection is set using Shift+Numpad# the same way.

This way I can use my left hand to handle movement and the additional keys (shift, alt, ctrl) and my right to handle powers selection.

So if I want to use Fortitude, which is on the first tray in slot 8 on Teammate number 5, all I have to hit is Shift+Numpad5, Numpad 8. Barely takes any time at all once you've got the rhythm going. And no typing out long binds to boot.

I confess, though, it's a whole lot easier system to use if you've ever run a cash register at some time in your life. And it makes hitting combos on my DB scrapper a breeze, since they are laid down in rows.
2. Just thought I would pass along something that I find helpful for running my DB scrapper.

I use the keymapping function in options to run my powers using the numpad numbers. That way I move with my left hand and attack with my right. I have arranged my attacks in this setup -

1 Nimble Slash
2 Ablating Strike
3 Blinding Feint
4 One Thousand Cuts
5 Power Slice
6 Typhoon's Edge
7 (open for whatever you like)
8 Vengeful Slice
9 Sweeping Strike

This puts my combos in the patterns of 1-2-3, 1-2-6 (and since 1 & 2 recharge fast I can alternate between the two), 4-5-6, and 2-8-9 (which is easier than it sounds at first blush).

Hope this is useful for someone. I really love it. Though I admit it is easier to use if you've run a cash register at some time in your life.
3. I think it will be fun to see what buildings pop up because of this. They did say there would be zone enhancements, which I am sure are things to go with the day job theme. Who knows, maybe Paragon City will finally have a gas station for all those cars and trucks to stop at.

Global Chat Handle reset
All accounts initially start with the ability to change their global chat handle one time. This grant will reset that and allow accounts who had previously changed their global chat handle to do so again. This is a one time chat handle change, so please use it wisely.

*sobs with joy*

I can finally get my real global name back!

A while back my then-8yo decided to poke around on Mommy's game while I was in the, er, reading room and discovered a cool place she could type in the name of her favorite doll. Fun for her, irritating for me since customer support wouldn't change it back.

At least it was a sort of pseudo-Japanese sounding name, so it wasn't totally embarrassing. It could have been worse, since the kid soaks up vocabulary like a sponge (I once had to explain to her that no matter how pretty it sounded, Lolita really wasn't a good name for one of her Polly Pockets... and no she couldn't take it to Sunday School with her).

I suspect it's also an homage to Red Green.

I'd say so, since that's the motto of Possum Lodge on the Red Green Show.
6. Hope you feel better soon. I was just asking because I'm not familiar with how demorecord works. Thanks for the explanation.
7. Very nice. The scenes you set up were great. That was a lot of hard work!

I'm curious about one thing. I saw a character that looked a lot like one of mine, but wasn't, doing an animation that I know I didn't do in Pocket D. Did you make toons wearing the costumes you recorded and then use them for the scenes you wanted?

I wanted to give a quick shout-out to ChaseArcanum (the videographer) for staying late at the event Friday to help accomodate those folks who were stuck in the "Connecting #XYZ" fiasco. He could have easily defaulted to "well, there's another call scheduled for Saturday, try to attend then. But lucky for us, that's just not Chase's style. I very belated to the event as a result (finally got in about a half hour after the event was supposed to end) and Chase was still in Pocket D filming folks. I was able to get my little Ethereal Ember into the final "anything goes" group shot. Thanks Chase, you're awesome!

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes, I thought it was very nice that filming ran late for people like me who finally got past the Connecting #X at five minutes before the event was set to end. Thank you!
9. [ QUOTE ]
Lol, 2.5 hours and still no connection. Thankfully I have plenty of fanfic to read while waiting.

[/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, I'm rather cheesed about all this, since I logged on to Test two blasted hours early to avoid a last minute crush, just to find myself dumped off and blocked out. I really doubt I am going to waste the time to try to get on tomorrow, since it will be a crowd of all the people who planned to be on Saturday plus 90% of the people who planned to be on tonight.
10. [ QUOTE ]
Just leave it on. Eventually it should connect and download.

[/ QUOTE ]

At this rate, just in time for tomorrow's time slot.
11. Um, devs, no offense, but shutting down the server just before a scheduled event may not have been the best plan. I was on around 6, and got kicked off not long after because of 'maintenance'. That must have been one heck of a bug that needed patching.

I have to say I think the dev team has done a great job on this issue. Freebies so nobody feels left out, vet rewards to boost those of us who have had lots of time to fill our slots, and purchasable slots for the deep down altoholics. I'm impressed.

Actually, I'm pretty sure Phil Foglio was using Freem as a sound effect in his comics years ago, way before Colbert. But I'm too lazy to dig through my collection to be certain.

And I knew what the 'announcement' was as soon as I saw it, but I had an unfair advantage. I had already been to a couple of other web boards I read and seen their April Fools posts, so I was sort of expecting it. But if I had come here first, it would have been a different story.

I can't believe it, the devs actually did something I suggested. In the contact list discussions, I've said repeatedly that all I really needed was a way to split the list into Active and Inactive. I'm actually getting my wish!

Since the Midnight Squad/Roman content seems to be arcane themed, I'm just praying that the 'familiar threat' isn't the Circle of Thorns. Dear heaven I am so sick of them. I'd rather have Nemesis behind everything.
17. Does anyone have any *real* information on the event? I was hoping to find info about new holiday missions and badges, and I'd rather not plow through a zillion pages of debate over the wedding pack.

Here's the thing... did anyone not know that Freedom has the highest population and that this event would bring more players online over the weekend? Are you going to tell us that there was nothing you could have done to prevent this on your own? Like tell your friends, "Hey, in case the server gets too full, maybe we should make some alts someplace else."

[/ QUOTE ]
Why even use double XP if you're going to then have to create new characters just for the event?

People are majorly overreacting to the lockouts IMO, but that is a flawed argument.

[/ QUOTE ]
Because you can play those alts year-round. I doubt many people would create alts specifically to play only during double XP events. The point is that you don't put all your eggs (characters) in one basket (Freedom), that's all.

[/ QUOTE ]

To be fair, though, there are a lot of people who make one server their playing home. Their friends are there, all their alts are there, they have people they regularly team with, and so on.

If Pinnacle had been blocked over the weekend, my entire SG would have had to message each other and say, "Um, wanna all make L1 toons somewhere, or just wait?" Because the toons we wanted to level were all on that server. I wanted to get my empath past the late 30's doldrums, not start a whole new toon that most likely I would never play again.

*waves tiny flag reading Raise Storage Items per Base Limit*

My SG was formed for one main purpose - to create a closet for all our alts. We only have three active members and have hit the limit for storage bins.

Reading about all the differences between MMOs like WoW and EQ to CoH made the most hilarious image pop into my head. A lot of people have mentioned that CoX should advertise more. Well, here's an idea for NCSoft, and they can have it free and clear.

Remember the old Warner Brothers cartoons with Sam the sheepdog and Ralph the wolf? They would clock in every morning before starting their jobs as predator and guardian. ("Morning, Ralph." "Morning, Sam.")

Imagine a "nonspecific but obviously representing other game" character and a CoX character both clocking in before going off to do their 'jobs' and the conversations they could have.

"Morning, Captain Extraordinary."

"Morning, Gruntblarg."

"I'm off to cut my way through hordes of <insert critter here> to reach my goal, then I have to stand around and wait for the Killer Rabbit to appear, then fight my way back to the wizard to give him its ears. It's gonna be a long day."

"Gee, that's too bad. I'm going to fly over the valley full of trolls and go into a cave where I know I'll find the Bad Guy. Then I'll call my contact on my cell before hitting a party at the dance club. But have fun with the, er, waiting around."

So they're impatient selfish greedy little twits who are making your life easier.

[/ QUOTE ]

Sometimes. But if you happen to stumble across leftover snow monsters before the present has re-spawned, they will still attack.

[/ QUOTE ]

While I agree that running into mobs is never fun, I have to admit that the click-and-run style has one benefit - it shows where the present spawning spots are. I wandered one zone in frustration for ages before someone started leaving the spawns. Then I could finally see where I should be checking, instead of aimlessly running through present-free streets.
22. [ QUOTE ]
Add this to the sorting storage idea: link all the same-type storage units. A base with, say, two salvage storage units should have both access the same pool of 1998 salvage pieces, instead of having the two separated. At 75 members, we had five salvage units and were having to reorganize the contents regularly to keep track of everything.

Also, add the option to get rid of the floor or ceiling trim entirely, without slathering the walls with objects.

[/ QUOTE ]

I have to disagree on the linked storage idea. In my SG, we have storage bins that are 'assigned' to each person, so that everyone has their own personal enhancement bin. We also have some bins with enhancements that are 'free to a good home'. With linked storage, we wouldn't be able to tell whose was whose, and would destroy our number one reason for having an SG and base.
23. The grind factor is getting rather high. Last year, because of work issues, I only managed to get all the badges on two toons. This year was equally busy, plus I was in the closed beta, so I had just enough time to get the new badges on those two toons, and get one more fully taken care of. It just takes so very long. I don't like knowing that unless I can practically live on the game, I have no chance of getting all the badges for my seven badge hunters.

[/ QUOTE ]

Being totally selfish for a moment: this is the only one I really care about.

I am still cross with the Devs for putting the market economy before the needs of SGs. Perhaps now the market is established they will rectify the issue?

*This is me - not holding my breath*

[/ QUOTE ]

I completely agree. Now that people are used to using the markets and the novelty factor has worn off, I think the devs should let go of their hoarding fears and give us storage. And if it involves new types of storage bins, they should increase the number of bins allowed in a base substantially. It is far too low as it is.
