  1. I am all for changing Granite Armor as well. I have always thought it looks a little silly. If you are on a team with a tanker that has Granite Armor, you feel protected with a huge bulking piece of rock taunting everything, but it still looks kind of dumb. I would love having overlays and keep the look of your character intact.
  2. I have taken 3 different toons to 50 with kinetics. A Fire/Kin troller, an Ice/Kin troller, and a Kin/Sonic defender. I can safely say that speed boost and fulcrum shift are the two defining powers of the kinetics set. If you do not take both of them, you severely damage your ability to contribute to the team. It is not that hard or annoying to buff people with speed boost, because it greatly enhances their end recovery and recharge and generally makes life easier for your team.

When you invite people to your teams, you have certain expectations. If you invite a tanker, you expect them to tank. If you invite a controller, you expect them to control the enemy to some degree. When you invite a kinetics, you expect speed boost and fulcrum shift. If the person does not fulfill these expectations to at least some degree, well, they should try a different archetype.

I usually do not kick people from my teams, but when I invite a kinetics to the team and they are at the level where they could have speed boost yet do not have it, I really have to resist the urge to kick them. Even if you are using fulcrum shift to its greatest potential, you are contributing about 50% of what you could be contributing if you had speed boost. Just take speed boost and use it. Your team will love you for it.

I don't know what idiot said that, but I for one would have probably just left the team right then and there. I can only tolerate a certain amount of stupidity in team chat. I promise you that you will still be needed at the end game being an empathy or force fields.

It is true that you do not have to have one of them on your team, but they make the team much more efficient and fast. I can't count the number of times I wished I had a good healer on the team at level 50 or a force fields 'fender.

When I play on my FF 'fender, when I join teams, I always see "Sweet! Force Fields!!" or something to that extent pop up in the chat. Also, my FF defender is dark blast, so the enemies are basically screwed as far as hitting the team goes.

Don't listen to someone that says support is not needed at the end game. Just leave the team, because the people in the team aren't worth your time if they think that way.

    Dude... LOL

Anyways, I'm seriously considering rerolling my Inv/SS tanker (he's level 30) as an Inv/DM tanker for added to-hit debuffs. The only thing I'm scared about as far as the DM set is the lack of AoE. It has soul drain, but other than that, it doesn't have too much AoE, which leads me to believe it might have trouble keeping the to-hit debuffs on all the mobs. Is this true, or is keeping those on the mobs easier than I'm thinking?
  5. I would like to request that the animation for "Mu Bolts" in the scrapper / stalker Mu Mastery set be changed to look like you are attacking with a lightning bolt instead of looking like you are giving someone a buff. Maybe change it to look something like the blaster's electric attacks with your fists extended, or even make it look more like Fireball's animation? It just looks kind of silly right now in my opinion.

    Edit:
I would also like to see a unique animation for the electric melee's Thunder Strike attack. Possibly make the user throw their hand back, have lightning swell up on it, and then they thrust their fist forward, completing the attack as usual. We just need a change from the traditional jump way up in the air for three seconds and come down on the foe's head.
  6. Well I can definitely tell that they nerfed shield charge on my scrapper. Only hitting for about 350-400 now, was doing 750-800. Still, if I throw out fireball (or ball lightning now), I can take out most everything without even using lightning rod. I'm so glad I have lightning rod though, since it can do a good 500+ to everything. It actually does more than shield charge now, most of the time.

Agreed. In teams, knockback sucks, period. Soloing it might have its usages, but in teams, no. I really can't stand when a Peacebringer joins my team in game. I play my Elec/Shield scrapper and I basically have to RACE the PB to the next spawn! If I get there first, I can normally almost kill most of the spawn, but if the PB gets there first, the mobs go flying EVERYWHERE and I have to try and pick them off with single target damage.

Hell, even when I play my Fire/Elec blaster or even my Kin/Sonic defender I loathe the PB and its massive knockback. I run up to use fireball with my blaster, but the PB got to them first and the mob is spread all over the damn place. I run up to use Fulcrum Shift with my Kin, but the PB got to them first and FS only hits two enemies.

Generally, HEATs bring nothing but frustration to teams. I typically skip picking them up when I form teams, and I wish I didn't have to, I hate doing it! In the early levels, they shine, but in the later levels, I would much rather have a basic AT in the team because they can do one of the things the PB or WS can do except they can do it much better. The HEATs need a lot of love to make them on par with the other ATs, and changing their KB to KD would be a GREAT start. I think the HEATs need to be more like the VEATs, since VEATs are usually a pleasure to have around.

I would be surprised if a virus was causing this problem, as I'm very paranoid about viruses and programs running on my computer without my permission. I typically deactivate everything I can find running before I play CoH. I hope you can find the problem.

    Screen blinking

The day before issue 17 came out, I decided to update my drivers since I hadn't done it in a while. I updated them and didn't play CoH until the next day, when issue 17 came out. Now, I'll try to explain the glitch I'm getting.

After playing for a few minutes, the game's HUD (health bar, targeting box, ect..) will all blink white / gray and then return to normal. It does it very quick, but it is very noticeable. This normally happens when I toggle open the enhancement inventory, inspirations, or recipe inventory by clicking on them above my powers in the bottom right corner of the screen or opening the map, contact, ect.. at the top of the screen. If I continue to play the game, I will sometimes have the entire screen blink white / gray then return to normal from just running around. I can still play the game when it does this, but it is very annoying.

The main problem is, I don't know if the new issue is causing this or if the driver update is. I tried downloading an older driver from nVidia (running a 7950 GT with Windows 7) but it doesn't help. When I install new drivers, I always uninstall the old driver first, boot in safe mode, run driver sweeper, and then install the new ones.

((Yesterday, I used the system restore and went back to the old drivers before I updated them, but its still blinking))

This has never happened before issue 17. Has anyone had this happen to them?
  10. Thanks alot for that build ideal MutantX. Does my build look decent, I mean, its not that bad or anything is it? Also, when I plan these builds and slot my enhancements, what do I look at in Mid's to make sure I have "soft capped" my defenses? Does it show you when you have "soft capped" or do you just have to figure it out yourself? Thanks!
  11. Hey guys, I'm about to hit 50 on my Elec/Shield scrapper and I want to cap his defenses, or at least make him have stronger defenses

I have never done this before with any of my other level 50 toons, but I enjoy this one enough to put some influence into him. I don't have billions to spend, but I could eventually come up with a few hundred million. Below is the build I have planned for him.

Hero Plan by Mids' Hero Designer 1.601

Click this DataLink to open the build!

    Level 48 Mutation Scrapper
    Primary Power Set: Electrical Melee
    Secondary Power Set: Shield Defense
    Power Pool: Leaping
    Power Pool: Fitness
    Power Pool: Fighting
    Power Pool: Speed
    Ancillary Pool: Body Mastery

    Hero Profile:
    Level 1: Havoc Punch -- Empty(A)
    Level 1: Deflection -- Empty(A)
    Level 2: Battle Agility -- Empty(A)
    Level 4: True Grit -- Empty(A)
    Level 6: Combat Jumping -- Empty(A)
    Level 8: Build Up -- Empty(A)
    Level 10: Thunder Strike -- Empty(A)
    Level 12: Active Defense -- Empty(A)
    Level 14: Super Jump -- Empty(A)
    Level 16: Swift -- Empty(A)
    Level 18: Health -- Empty(A)
    Level 20: Stamina -- Empty(A)

    Level 28: Grant Cover -- Empty(A)
    Level 30: Boxing -- Empty(A)
    Level 32: Lightning Rod -- Empty(A)
    Level 35: Shield Charge -- Empty(A)
    Level 38: Tough -- Empty(A)
    Level 41: Conserve Power -- Empty(A)
    Level 44: Physical Perfection -- Empty(A)
    Level 47: Weave -- Empty(A)

    ------------
    Level 1: Brawl -- Empty(A)
    Level 1: Sprint -- Empty(A)
    Level 2: Rest -- Empty(A)
    Level 1: Critical Hit

Now I don't know how to slot him to "cap his defenses" like I see people talking about here. Help would be appreciated. I like this build, but if you have to change a power I will understand. Thanks!
  12. TC, I agree with you on most of the issues you posted about your PB (except for maybe access to the TP pool, its not required in my experience). The only thing you didn't mention in your problem list is knockback. My PB is 44 and my WS is 50, and both of them have problems with KB (PB far more than WS).

My scrapping attack chain normally consists of Incandecent Strike (wonderful knockdown), radiant strike (bad knockback), and solar flare (horrible knockback).

I honestly don't know what the devs were thinking when they put that massive KB on those abilities. Solar flare does excellent damage, but the KB is counter-productive to your team (especially if you have a kin with FS). The KB is even counter-productive to me when I'm soloing, because I have to chase the baddies down after they fly 50 yards. Why not have solar flare knockdown like SS foot stomp?

In short, you will die more then you miss. Lol but seriously, foc acc will allow you to hit high def mobs with ease. Like those annoying rikti drones, cot demons, nemesis with veng, and those cim traitors. You can even hit mako threw elude easier. Not only that, its res to tohit debuffs is strong. Great in pvp for spotting stalkers since the perception buff stacks with heighen senses. I think it caps it though I'm not sure. I'm not into remembering the numbers as much as I remember what I was able to do with the power. I must warn you that its a real end hog so be ready to slot it. I normaly six slot it with gussians fire control for the def to all bonus and the build up proc. BU + BU proc + critical = a beautiful 4 digit orange number and then some.

    [/ QUOTE ]

thats old focused accuracy, its value is now minimal, especially with IO set bonuses offering more.

It used to be 20% tohit base, now its 5, sure it has some accuracy but nothing awesome. What is does retain however is the massive endurance cost which is akin to running 3 secondary toggles.

The only thing FA brings now is a way to empty your blue bar faster, any other benifits are better found elsewhere, like tactics and set bonuses. the res to -tohit is nice but hell, pop a yellow when you need to.

It WAS a great power with end costs to balance it, now its junk.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Its true that its not what it was but I did all those things in its nerfed state. As far as going for leadership over focc acc, I'd rather take conserve power to help with the long fights and the endurance problem. Those leadership toggles can be just as bothersome stacked on to wp. That's 6 toggles not including sprint. 8, if you have tough and weave. Two more end hog toggles. I don't need to pop yellows with foc acc. I was fighting nemesis in that rwz mish with manti and posi on it and I had no problems hitting them even with stacked on veng. (I don't think its fair they can do that but still) well, when that third stack came on, I had problems then. Granted, old foc acc would have hit threw the third stack too. But I think its still worth taking if you have room to slot it right.

    [/ QUOTE ]

worth taking? its almost the same as as THREE secondary toggles COMBINED in endurance cost, it gives less tohit than tactics (and costs craploads more) AND less than the +tohit IO you can just throw in combat jump.

Its junk, drop in the kismet +tohit IO and call it a day, its not going to really going to make the difference between hitting through veng or not, watch your combat log % numbers with it on and with it off.

this is what you are getting in FA now, one accuracy dual origin enhancement and a kismet +tohit IO for the cost of THREE secondary toggles. Got to say thats not worth it (at least not IMO), you can get those benefits elsewhere EASILY without the endurance burn.

You like it, cool, the games not all about the numbers, I take some "terrible" powers and sets just to have fun

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ok, after reading this, I'm reconsidering my decision to take FA at 44. If FA is really as bad as you say it is, then I'm probably going to take tough and weave on my BS/WP scrapper now. I guess I'll just completely stay out of the epic pools on my scrapper.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
changing human melee attacks from knockback to knockdown : Nothing new here, as it's something that tanker and scrapper asked for themselves, a lot. Knockback is not welcomed among any melee AT. Especially when it comes from aoe/pbaoe attacks. Peacebringer human form melee attack are on heavy knockback, they should be changed to knockdown/knockup only.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This needs to be addressed ASAP. In my opinion, this is the most important problem with the PB (one of the only problems left with the PB, but its huge). Solar flare and radiant strike are basically worthless in teams because of the huge knockback. The tank finally gathers everything up, you run up to AoE with solar flare and BAM, everything goes flying, and people get mad (you can't blame them, it even makes me mad).

I love scrapping in my PB human form, but the knockback just kills the fun. Please devs, get this fixed.
  15. I love being a PB and WS. My PB is at 42, and my WS is at 47. The only problem with the PBs, and its a huge problem, is knockback. Several times I've sent tells to peeps trying to get in teams only to be told they don't want knockback (can't blame them). Can't use solar flare or radiant strike in teams or the next thing you see is the baddies flying over the horizon, and your team yelling at you.

If the devs would fix the PB knockback by changing it to knockdown, PBs would rock in every way.
