My main (A SS/INV tanker) had some trouble finding a team on this one thanks to the 100% resistance to Smashing and Lethal (I was even booted off a league trying for it after spending half an hour forming for that very reason). I finally decided to make and slot the Reactive Interface so I wasn't totally useless on him other than the unreliability of the psi and NRG procs (1.5 damage rom fire per tick is still 1.5 points of damage).
Finally got it last night and we did have about 25% of the team using S/L damage. We all just dogpiled him with the S/Ls breaking off occasionally to deal with Augers and a few adds (especially during the Nova Fist attack). It did get tight, we were down to about a minute when he finally dropped, but definately doable with a number of S/L users around. -
Quote:I considered that. I'm not thinking the items themselves are "marked" but that one way it could award the badge would be:I would highly doubt it. I can't be sure, but I would guess that the game cannot tell the difference between the items in the sabotage and outside. The three item badges most likely have two triggers:
1) Did you get all 10 items of type X from the sabotage phase? If yes, go to 2. If no, go to 3.
2) Did any items of type X get used in the Marauder fight? If no, award badge. If yes, go to 3.
3) Do not award badge.
That is, it only checks whether or not an item was used at all, not whether it's from the lab/warehouse or courtyard. Again, this is just a guess and until the badges are unbugged, there's no way to know for sure.
1) Did you get all 10 items of type X from the sabotage phase? If yes, go to 2. If no, go to 3.
2) Count number of items of type X on the league after the Marauder fight; If 10 or more than 10, award badge. If less than 10, go to 3.
3) Do not award badge.
If it's done this way it has good and bad implications. Good in that so long as the league held 10 of each after the fight they could use any they collect over 10. Bad in that if a person holding one was to DC at an inopportune time their temps would not be counted and you'd lose the badge. It would also have some serious implications for tactics to use on him (and be a possible reason for the badge failing if those who tried were unlucky enough to have a DC at the wrong point). -
This may have been asked before and I just missed it or it may even be unanswerable at thsi time but; if you get the 10 grenades and/or acids inside, then collect (for example) 5 more of each outside and use only 5 of each, would that count for the badge?

Quote:I was on one of the trials the OP is talking about. We are investigating the issues with the Incarnate Trials, but I want to make sure we are talking about the same thing here.
When you say "crash," are you experiencing a client crash, "lost connection to mapserver," or just being booted out of the Trial?
I have had at least a half dozen instances of the same thing happening on the BaF and Lambda (so it's not confined to just one of them).
Whathappens is, at some point in the trial (it has varied for me from incident to incident, including almost instantly happening as soon as everyone got inside the instance), the screen will switch to the "logo" screen used during loading, the next zone will load and you're back in the zone you originally left from to enter the trial. The chat window will inform you that you quit your team along with a long list of others who also quit. If you open the LFG window, it will give you the option to rejoin or abandon, clicking rejoin does nothing but clear the trial from you. -
One is in Crey's Folly, a hunt of 25 Crey I believe, the other is in any zone. So yes, IF there's an event in Crey's Folly it can delay you and if you get stunningly unlucky, several events in the proper zones could effect the other.

My biggest problem with the whole "we need all the codes" thing was the sheer number of codes that would entail. I'm glad to hear you do not require all of them, else I would have been in trouble.
Accounts can have, literally, 25 or so codes associated with them counting all the retail editions, CE Editions, Pre-orders, boosters and costume codes, and the odds of anyone actually having them all over the course of 7 years is fairly low especially with some of them being digital codes that may or may not have been jotted down when the confirmation emails showed. Beyond that, the way the codes are listed on the account page doesn't give a clue as to what a number of them are, since many are listed simply as "Perk," which makes tracking what code is for what and what codes are missing more difficult. I could locate only about 75% of the ones associated with my account. I'm just glad I didn't need to know them all. -
Quote:Actually, I wrote a MA mission set that would fill the "classic hero cliche" requirements. We definitely need more 'cat stuck up a tree' type missions.
It's called "It Had To Happen Sooner or Later" (Arc #1246)
Yeah, it's a plug, but that mission is so mindbendingly crazy of an idea to write I had to. -
And yes, the master landed his TARDIS where the Doc was landing his and the Doc's materalized around the Master's (which was disguised as a Police box) In Logopolis. So there's the "TARDIS in the TARDIS" ref for the original series. The effect, while disorienting, doesn't cause much "ohh no we're in it deep now" distress and The Master easily disentangles the two without difficulty.

Quote:If you have a Musculature boost, you can equip it in the alpha slot. When it comes time to make the new boost requiring the one you have slotted, it will automaticaly unequip it and use it to make the new boost.I guess to understand it a bit more I actually don't have anything to put into the "Equip" part of the Alpha. But in the Create part I have the Musculature Partial Core Revamp saying that I need the following
Musculature Boost (which I have)
Essence of the Incarnate (need but can build)
Gr'ai Matter (need but can build)
Notice of the Well (which I have no idea where to get this at)
I guess I am a bit confused. The Convert(in the Breakdown area I guess I am not sure how to create those. This is where I am having the problem with.
For instance:
Notice of the Well Breakdown Breaks down a rare Alpha Incarnate Component into 4-6 Incarnate Shards.
Notice of the Well Need 1 Have 0
In other words, equip that musculature bost and then no one will say a word to you about running the Apex TF. When you finish the Apex, you will get 2 more shards and a Notice of the Well. -
Quote:There is a constant field in Oro that acts like an attack for the purposes of Alpha enhancers. leave Oro wait a few minutes, and you can slot it."Incarnate ability Spiritual Core Paragon has not been equipped because you have activated a power or have been attacked too recently."
this is the message I'm getting in game when attempting to slot the tier 4 Incarnate enhancement into the Alpha Slot. I've got all powers turned off, including Hasten, and standing still in Ouroboros.
Are the Tier 4's not working in the Alpha slot yet? -
The only character I have any real trouble with in the Battle baiden fight is my Mastermind and that's because I swear the Devs, intentionally or accidentally, gave the game a rather strange sense of humor. I can go for much of the fight with pets out and the blue seems to not really care about me that much, but then it murders my pets and the very second I start to drop one, it suddenly notices me and comes over to take a look at what I'm doing. While it rarely kills me, it kills the pets I just dropped and then it goes off to laugh at me.

Quote:Gotta admit though, it would be funny if they added an Accolade Badge for getting them all (Red and Blue) called "How Do I Play Again?" maybe give it an "emote power" where your charactrer just stands around looking a bit confused. If we're going to give disparaging names to groups of badges we don't like then I'll add the "Epic Lite" badges that don't reflect the fact that I earned them all back before their requirements were nerfed and the "AE badges, minus the 70 or so the Devs removed from the game after I had earned them already" badges. I could even throw in "broken anniversary badges that don't award when they're supposed to" couldn't I Turg?
At least for many of us the Day Job badges are currently done and over with. There's no real point in poking more fun at them unlike the other badges I mentioned which still vaguely "affect" us even to this day. -
Quote:I just want to say I really appreciate this response. A number of things went wrong with the Giveaway, some predictable, some not.Hey all,
First off, I want to start by thanking everyone for coming out to the event yesterday. Your support for these in game shin-digs help make them a fun and exciting time for everyone who participates, us included.

Twitter spazzed out for some and didn't post the image comment for 3 hours, the forums had to be offlined and there just wasn't the manpower or codes to go into all the instances of the D that existed. Facebook was the only one that seemed to actually go off without a hitch.
It is nice to see a fairly rapid response from the powers that be on the matter and a statement they will try to "do better" next time.
Speaking directly to the Live Server events, those things are always a a large "problem" since instances grow fast when a redname of any sort is going to be there, much less giving something with value away. I remember one of the earliest Live Server Dev visits. On Virtue 5 or 6 Pocket Ds sprang up well before the event started and they grew to 10+ once the event time hit. The Devs never visited outside of "D Prime" and a lot of people were extremely disappointed no effort was made to visit all the instances. I know that one event soured some people on Live Events in general and Dev Events in particular (several friends refused to participate in the "Wedding Event" on test because of that one incident). While not as crazy on the numbers this time, this event has a similar feel to that one, loads of instances, only a few visited and given preference in the giveaway of an extremely limited number of vauled items has made some people feel utterly devoid of any joy in the event.
That needed to be addressed, and seeing it get a fairly rapid one does my heart good. It is too bad that some poeple who were disappointed in this won't see the comment because they rarely, if ever, visit the forums. -
Quote:Much as I like the idea, gotta agree with this. This would be great but I can't see them making a non-bugfix change to any of the Boosters.
They've already sold the vast majority of these packs that they're ever going to sell and putting more resources into them outside of the minimum needed is a losing proposition. Unless there is a MASSIVE influx of new people (say, doubling the current population) and something like this was needed to draw attention to the old packs to sell them in numbers comparable to what has already been sold, this is a pipe dream.
That said, they may do a second set of these packs using ideas like these, so you may see them show up in the "Cyborg II Super-Booster" or even the "Travel Super-Booster." That has potential to make money for the resources put into them and are far more likely than any revisits/revamps on what they've already sold. -
As I read this, this seem overly complex and hard to balance. There is an easier way (and much of the necessary coding already exists).
Create a new series of IO recipes that are basic blanks with rarity similar to what we have now (yellow, orange and purple). They have no set, they have no set bonuses.
The rarity determines how much of the enhancement is retained in multi-aspect IOs.
So, for instance, you'd have Yellows with one, two, three, four and five open slots and then would use basic IOs (crafted of course) to slot them in any way you wanted including "doubling up" in a given recipe (for instance, you could have a "Yellow 4" and slot in 2 Damages, an Acc and a Recharge).
Second stage is to create another series of specialized IOs that ONLY slot into these and control procs/secondary effects. Rarity controls the strength of the proc/secondary effect (and/or it's chance to fire).
Third stage is to create a final "add on" piece that is attached to the entire set that controls the "bonus track" you're on. So, for instance, you could choose a bonus track that mimics the Numina's Set or that mimics the Aegis Set. If you want to get really complex, each Blank can slot a different bonus (but that makes balance difficult). Again, Rarity controls strength of the bonus.
There you go, customizable IO "sets" with every aspect customized and still some top down control by the Devs. -
-
Yeah, if you're not in in under 60 seconds, you're very likely not goign to get one unless they release two code sets back to back or fire off a "surprise code set" that no one is expecting (I got a corolax costume that way after several minutes delay when they posted a second set when no one was expecting it).

More info on the "Twitter problem." The post is now gone again.

Quote:Good on ya. Regardless of if they plan to do anything about it, my curiosity is up as to what went wrong. Not gonna be the case. Like I said earlier, I could see it logged out, even when you were still saying you couldn't. I've tweeted CoH_OCR to tell them there's been problems reported and asked if they have any comment, and I'll let you guys know if I get a reply.

Quote:Just spitballing here, but it appears the Twitter one was screwed up all sorts of ways for a lot of people. As I said earlier, it just showed after a 3 HOUR delay, so a lot of people who were waiting for it never even had a chance at it.The facebook ones cannot be there. It only started at 8, and theres been no updates as of yet.
Have an account and am logged in, no changes.
Either certain people in game are BSing or there is something fragged up going on.
I really hope a Community person makes some sort of comment on this, because soemthign went very wrong, especially since the (twitter part of the) giveaway is "ruined" for a number of us by that massive delay. If it didn't require split second "twitch typing" it wouldn't have been such a big deal.
Edit: My best bet, if you held a gun to my head and made me put money on it, is someone made a little error and marked it to their subscribers only and this thread alerted them to the problem, which they've corrected way too late. -
It FINALLY showed up, after it was posted 3 HOURS ago.
That is just wrong. -
