Okay, I've noticed an influx of newcomers at GG, some of which are a little confused or intimidated by some things there by the many rules and regulations we have in our secret brother and sisterhood (Joking, no such thing

) so I've decided in creating a Q&A thread in which we can all contribute and help clear up a lot of questions and confusion for the RP newcomers of Union whether they want to join a SG or do stuff at GG:
My stuff is mostly GG oriented, I encourage the non GG RPers to add their stuff in too. Especially the members of the RP Super Groups.
Speaking of GG stuff, you will get loads more information from the GG Wiki:

Q: Why aren't you paying attention to me! Hey HEY!
A: Sometimes in RP, you must generally introduce yourself just like in real life. A stranger coming out of nowhere in real life and interrupting a group of friends would generally get the same reaction. And remember, first impressions do count when introducing yourself from the characters we play.
Q: Wat is the matter with mispeaking lol?:
A: Also just like real life, we'd like to hear people speaking words that we can hear and pronounce ourselves. Accents are encouraged of course, but gamer slang and other types of lazily typed expressions of communications are ignored simply because it's annoying and it breaks the RP experince.
EXAMPLE:
Wrong: i am gragnor teh great! i will pwn you n00bs! worship me!
*Randomly starts to harass people all over the place*
Right: Puny Mortals, I am Gragnor The Great! who have summoned me? Oh. Was it you? you sure? Must have gotten the wrong address...sorry.
*/e wave and step back a little*
Q: Mind if I drop this boombox here and /e dance? I'll activate one of my flashy toggles too...
A: Please, don't do random emotes and show off your powers randomly. Not only is it annoying and simply mind boggling on WHERE you were keeping the boombox but just like in real life it can startle people and force them to /ignore you and move on. Use emotes and powers when they make sense, like fighting Villians or looking up information in the daily newspaper. Save the boombox for Pocket D or parties.
Q: *Kicks <player name> in the butt and breaks a bijjion bones in their left arm*
A: This is an example of unconsented God Moding, which quite frankly is a little rude. When doing actions, remember to keep it short and open so anything can happen and other people can get the chance do stuff. Asking people before you do acts apon their toons also helps by using the /tell command. Try to keep your characters actions to the PG-13 range too please.
Q: You jerk! You are griefing me!
A: If your character is being treated differently by another, keep in mind this is nothing personal. It is not a form of griefing if some tough guy tells you to back off because you are crimping his style. It's simply how his character would react in such a situation.
Q: Um, I want to play a guy/girl but I don't know how to act...
A: A rather detailed topic of tips of playing a different gender is right here on the RP forum, feel free to read and pick up some tips. Here's the URL friend:

Q: Can I RP as Superman!?
A: No, sorry but it's generally against the NDA of the game and Cryptic got sued over such a matter a few years ago by Marvel. If you made a known copy character it wouldn't last long before being changed by the server staff anyway. It's more encouraged that you make your own creation so you are not bogged down by the restrictions. However, this does not restrict you from creating a Catgirl/Vampire/Ninja/Pirate/Cybersuit hero as long as you make it your own design and give it a unique image and personality.
Q: I've worked out my guy/girl/thing story wise but my costume totally sucks!
A: If you want to change your costume to something modest or whatever, to do so you have to visit iCON in COH and the Face Maker in COV. iCON is located in the upper part of the Steel Canyon zone, be warned to bring a friend because of the tough mobs if you are low leveled.
The Face Maker in COV is located in Cap A Diube (The 3rd Island) somewhere in the west. Like in Steel, I'd bring a friend with teleport because of all the tough baddies if you are low level. You might need a lot of Influence/Infamy
to change costume, a high leveled friend will lend you it if you ask them nicely. If not, you better work hard to get it.
You get the other 3 costume slots at level 20, 30 and 40. You get access to capes at 20 via a series of missions. I'm not sure about aura, somebody else might have to answer that.
Well, I've covered some of the stuff now over to the Professionals.
