Ok, so I finally found the cause of the problem I was having and now I feel like a real idiot. Turns out, the default install location for the new mids is different from the location for the old mids. So simply installing it over the top of the old one didn't work as it usually does, and I was actually using the old version despite thinking I was using the new one. Cause all the shortcuts still pointed to the old files. I'm not sure how the pistols got into it though using the old one. Either way, working now.
Also, apparently the new one doesn't create a start menu folder or desktop shortcut. Why? -
-
I wasn't, I was using the old mids and just substituting another set and referencing the forums for which power was what. Never used the unofficial version. But it's still giving me that error, only on builds I've saved with the new version. Builds saved in the old one load fine.

Quote:Quoting myself in the hopes of getting an answer to this, and to provide additional information. It doesn't seem to be limited to DP builds, but rather ANY build created or edited then saved with the new version. It opens builds from the old version fine, but any build from the new one gives me that unable to read beyond end of stream error.Ok so I searched and I can't find anything on this anywhere on these forums or the Titan ones - having a weird error when trying to open builds using Dual Pistols. Two (DP/energy blaster and DP/pain corruptor) give me 'Unable to read data - unable to read beyond the end of the stream' and the other gives me 'Unable to read data - Arithmetic operation resulted in an overflow' (Kin/DP defender, originally saved as Kin/Ice then changed when the update came out, possibly the reason for the different error message but I dunno why.)
Anyone else had this problem and know how to fix it? I tried redownloading and reinstalling the program, and it worked fine until I closed and restarted it. Then I started getting the same errors.
E: Oh, I should mention I'm running this on windows 7. And yes it's in administrator mode - I have UAC disabled so it wouldn't matter anyway. -
Quote:So, basically wormhole? But instead of targetting enemies you target friends, and instead of stunning the target after teleporting it summons a pseudopet at that location like shield charge and lightningrod do, which damages enemies at that location. Doesn't sound too ridiculously hard to me, just using existing mechanics in a slightly different way. Of course, not having seen the code myself it may in fact be far more difficult than that.
At most, it would require combining recall friend with Shield Charge/Lightning Rod. You target your ally, click the power, pick the location you're throwing him/her to, and then you deal damage to everything nearby. -

I could see it being possible to add a second set of animations to Archery to have crossbows, just linking the choice of animations to which weapons are available might be difficult.... or just have two choices anyway and have it pull out whichever one for the power. Which again I dunno if they can do right now. So yeah, possible. By no means easy.

Quote:"Sounds like a good enough idea to us", Paxtera answered before considering and adding, "Though, if the whole peace idea works out, you might have to eventually welcome them. Just a thought." She shrugged, looking around at the group. "Whenever we are all ready..."
"I think we need to get her away from the smell of the blood. Perhaps M'lady you can transport us to my home where we can get cleaned." Lazardarus then looked at the Gre'shil "Perhaps not all of us... I don't think they will be welcomed at my home."
Ildela and Kethara meanwhile had finished cleaning themselves off. There was perhaps the odd bit they'd missed here and there, but it wouldn't be much if it remained at all. "Jade, you're scaring her. The blood on your hands, I dunno why but it scares the piss out of her", Ildela told the metallic dragon. -
Quote:"You think?", Ildela seemed unsure. "Kind of a weird ability to have.... not unheard of I guess." She looked down at Trisys, who seemed to be mostly clean now. So both her and Kethara proceeded to clean themselves off, of course noting that no additional water was being produced. The cloths were wet enough as it was anyway.
"I think that's her doing that." Jade commented as he wiped the last of the blood from Trisys' body, being much more concerned with her wellbeing than where water was coming from.
Quote:"What I wouldn't give for a nice waterfall to stand under." -
Personally I'd really like to see an explanation of why it has a two minute recharge, considering it does at best roughly equal damage to Rain of Arrows. Plus it's more dangerous to use, being a pbaoe rather than ranged so you have to run into a mob and get pounded on to use it.
-
Ildela gave no response, but her sister waved her acknowledgement to the Khelari as the reptillian before the pair of them continued assisting in cleaning the blood off of Trisys. "Huh, weird", Ildela commented. "Where's all this water coming from?" The idea that Trisys herself was somehow purifying it out of the blood didn't occur to her.
---------
Quote:"But at the same time we'd be weaker", Paxtera commented to him. "Surely as a hunter you understand the concept of strength in numbers? Also, she may be weak in one way but undoubtably she is strong in another. Like how we may be far better at directly attacking something than our daughter is, but her ability to turn invisible means she doesn't need to attack things in the first place. Just as an example." Just as with him, there was no hostility in her voice. She was merely attempting, however pointless it may be, to explain their point of view to him."Why bother she weak should die. Pack be stronger." There was no hostility in Scar's voice just puzzlement over tending what Scar saw was the lowermost member of Jade's pack. -
Quote:"Sounds like a plan to me", Ildela replied, reaching into her pockets and producing, of all things, a pair of cloths. She offered one to her sister, who took it and joined her in helping Jade and Lazardarus clean the blood off of Trisys.
"I don't know if that's the cause of her condition or not but lets try to get her cleaned up it be easier to see bruises or puncher marks if she got stung by some poisonous insect."
Paxtera, meanwhile, saw no reason to join in. Too many people trying to help would just get in the way, really. Instead she watched the interactions between the Gre'shil and the Khelari, a faint smile crossing her face. -
I might join in for a few here and there, but I don't think I'd be able to do all of them like last time.
-
Quote:"No, as far as we know we've never been there", Paxtera replied to her. "We did meet another of your kind once before, though, a long time ago.... for us anyway. A man going by the name of Acid Zero, though we doubt that was his real name."
"I am." the red-and-green reptilian gave a somewhat puzzled nod to Paxtera, "How do you know that? No one around here even talks to us. Did you visit the homeworld? I thought it was gone?"
"I remember him. He was weird", Ildela commented. "Gave me this", she continued, fishing around in a pocket and producing a small device somewhat resembling a watch battery. What it was, she didn't bother saying.
"And no", Paxtera continued. "We didn't seek to hunt you or your people. As the elf said, we wouldn't do that to any sentient creature... And we're not gods, either", she added after the Gre'shil spoke. "Try convincing them of that though, see how far you get."
Kethara meanwhile had tired of the conversation of which she only understood a little. Instead she went over to where Jade was cradling Trisys. She didn't bother asking if the satyr was ok, that was obvious. "Anything I can do to help?", she asked. Paxtera and Ildela followed the Khelari over, with much the same request. -
Kethara quickly developed a confused look as events unfolded in front of her. She raised a hand to aid the smaller creature trying to bring down the massive behemoth, but Ildela's hand on her arm stopped her. "It has it handled, don't worry", she told her sister, not even turning to look at her. Instead, both older sibling and mother displayed near identical raised eyebrows at the sight in front of them, not just because it was an impressive feat but because they recognised that species. Or they thought they did, anyway.
Quote:"No... We sort of got the impression it was about you become yours", Paxtera answered with hints of amusement. "We must commend your skill in bringing down such a creature on your own", she added. Especially as the smaller creature didn't appear to be injured. Doing it was one thing but doing it without taking a few scrapes in return was quite another. "One question though, if you would... Are you by chance a Khelari?", she asked. Ildela didn't appear at all surprised by the question but Kethara gave her a curious look, clearly wondering what the hell a Khelari was. ....Well, this creature in front of her, obviously. Or something that looked very much like it."Oh..." came from its mouth in a tone one might've expected from a young adult human female, along with a rather awkward, self-conscious look as her eyes swept the group, "Um...sorry. I...didn't see you there. Was this your breakfast...?"
Ildela went over to Lazardarus, putting a hand on his shoulder. "Relax.... this one's friendly, I think", she told him. -

Quote:Dual Blades is the same, has no legacy sword option. Mostly because there is no 'legacy' option for either of these sets, as they were made after weapon customisation. There's no old default model to be the legacy one, so there's no need to have a legacy option. It's new. Doesn't work that way on live. If you look on Live, there's no slide geometry. There is on Test. Also note the lack of Legacy pistols for DP characters.
Also, someone with a thugs mastermind on Test needs to see if they animate now for Thugs too, or if it's just for Dual Pistols characters. -

Quote:"They have their rules, same as you have yours", Kethara told him, almost exactly what Paxtera would have said had she not been engaged in discussions with Jade of transporting themselves and the Gre'shil to this hunting ground. She didn't seem to have any objections to the idea. "And what woud we use as a trophy, anyway?", Kethara continued.
Laz rubbed his chin then moved closer to Jade "Seems they have some kind of Honor system... Perhaps if we also deliver a Trophy to this High Mother it could aid our cause better?"
"I'd suggest the dead lizardmen from before, but somehow I think that might give the wrong impression", Ildela spoke up, a faint tinge of amusement in her voice. Her sister just gave her a disapproving look, at which she couldn't help but chuckle quietly to herself.
Quote:"Yes Travel together alright. We hunt separate your pack and my pack but going to hunting ground together no brake ways."
Somewhat later, they were back again. Appearing in what would be a near blinding flash of light, close to the hunting grounds Jade had told her of. She and her two children were unscathed by the trip, but for the others it might be a different story. See, what Pax did wasn't an actual teleport. Rather, it was time travel. Space and time being merely different dimensions of the same thing, it was possible to move through space at the same time. However, for the inexperienced it tended to be rather disorienting, as their bodies had to get used to the fact that they were no longer when they had come from.
Specifically, they appeared precisely when Trisys arrived at the same location by more mundane means. Probably surprising her a little in the process. -
Quote:I really hope they make this reasonable, rather than the current system where customes need to have two or three times the number of powers as most normal mobs to get full xp. Also some way of seeing how much xp a mob will give while creating it, instead of making it and testing the mission only to find some of your mobs give no xp.
Experience: You can now handpick the powers for custom enemies and still receive experience for them (within game balance limits). -
Just something a friend was musing about in a global channel, a badge for planting bombs in missions. Probably villainside only cause heroes have no missions like that I think. Say, 100 bombs planted in any mission and you get the badge. Not sure what it'd be called though.

I have a character this set would be perfect for, so very much /signed. I do have to agree though that as it is it's a bit light on control and heavy on debuffs. Maybe make the two aging powers do a sleep for the single target and a stun for the aoe, with the damage debuff as a more minor secondary effect. Then make haste an aoe buff with either a lower effect or a higher recharge than equivalent buff set powers.

I like this idea, but on one condition: They bring back the Calvin Scott TF while they're at it.

Quote:"We'd need you along anyway, gotta have some representative from the other side if we're gonna make a peace that has any chance at all of lasting", Kethara told him. Ildela just sighed quietly to herself, she'd admit the idea was admirable but she had her doubts as to whether these lizardmen were even advanced enough to properly understand the concept. But why not, it was something to do at least.
He looked at Jade "It may not be in my orders but as the emissary of my people I will help with this idea of meeting with the High Mother Gre'shil. Thought I have a bad feeling about it."
Quote:"Now, um...Kethara, did your mom answer, or should I go look for transportation...?"
Paxtera just gave her an amused look. "We arrived, as always, precisely no earlier nor no later than was necessary. Now, you said something about transportation? To where and why?", she asked Jade. -
Not to mention it'd make hunting those mobs that only come out at night even more tedious than it already is. (Ghosts in Croatoa, BP Masks in Talos.)
