Don't get me wrong. I'm not against the idea of having it auto-paid. I think that would be a good idea. It's just that some folks are having a moan about paying it at all which I think is silly.
-
It doesn't matter whether it's labelled as rent or fuel bills or paying off local businesses to keep schtum about the bases location. Any secret base would require some costs and it's a bit silly to argue over what is a small cost and can easily be afforded. Those americans who are protesting are crazy. *does wavy finger gesture around her temple*

Just to add my opinion to the mix but to take down Hami or indeed any opponent in any battle efficiently you need to divide the strength of their attacks whilst focusing your own on one spot at a time so as to cause the most damage. In the case of Hamidon this means spreading the tanks out to each take a bit of punishment from 1 or 2 mitochondrias which they should be able to handle if they have enough support from defenders and an appropriate amount of those buff treat things. As soon as the tanks have started taking the aggro a team of scrappers need to start taking out the melee mito's while a team of blasters need to start taking out the ranged ones. They all focus on the same Mito so as to finish it off quick and then move on to the next one. These teams don't need much if any empath support - just someone to tp them away from Hami should they happen to die. The biggest challenges really should be getting the tanks to synchronise their approach to Hami so that they all get their taunts working more or less together and making sure that when the teams inevitably do start dying that there's enough people with tp to get them back away from Hami so the rezzing can commence quickly. I noticed on the first Hami raid that the most successful attack we had involved a spread of tanks each with their own group of scrappers and an empath. A couple of mito's were beaten but not enough. Had the scrappers all been hitting the same mito then it would have gone down in seconds and the whole group could have moved onto the next mito.
I can't comment on the second raid as I wasn't able to make it but I will happily bring a 50 empath with tp along to all future raids that I am able to make. And am willing to join in on any preparation missions to gather inspirations for the next fight. You can contact me on @beks but I keep an eye on the Hami raid channel as well.

You need to be able to enter Eden which I think requires you to be level 45.

Seems the idea that we were missing is that only the tanks and their empaths need to split up. The scrappers and blasters should huddle and do as much damage as possible to the mito's. Perhaps next time we should have a couple of tank/empath teams sort themselves out in order to hold all the aggro and then let us simpleton damage dealers wail in like we always do
-
oh yeah and rofl at the Christopher Walken suggestion.
and
Naomi Campbell - Claws/Fiery Aura Scrapper with a ranged damage epic power pool. -
Johnny Depp would be a mind controller (I'd do whatever he told me to) with thermal radiation (he's soooo hot)
*blushes*
Anyways er... moving on... -
Well I guess that's a Duh moment for me then
The error on the skirts is still in existence but maybe a visit to the tailor will sort the problem out. Wierdly enough I have a blaster heroine with the same skirt design as my stalker villainess who has never experienced the problems. Her skirt always had slits in the right place. -
Well my villains skirt isn't back to normal yet but oddly my heroine's seem to be okay. Also when I visited the tailor to do a second costume the choice of skirts seemed more limited than normal.

Perhaps I'm not the most educated person to discuss prestige having never really been invloved with base building. But I am a keen earner of prestige for the sg's I am in. My sg has just recently started an Elite version of itself to allow for more members and has also started a villain side group too. This means we need prestige in lorryfulls but we're in no hurry to get there. Earning prestige gives a reward in itself when you look at the sg list and see your toons near the top as it makes you feel like you are really contributing to the sg. It also helps you bond with other members of the group as you work together to be able to afford new items for the base. It's nice to see the new bar in the sg base or a new teleporter and go, "I helped buy that". When everything is given to you on a plate then life becomes ever so meh. So I approve of the current system no matter how frustrating it can be at times.

Well it's making my rude bits get cold so I hope they change it soon. I wondered at first if it had something to do with my mutant tabby cat having a tail and that they had cleverly arranged it so that tailed characters had a slit in the skirt for free tail movement. I was horrified when I saw what the boys could see fromt he front. I'm going to resist the urge to make the obvious joke at this point but I know what you are all thinking!

Looks like Death shroud is more or less a must have then for generating fury. I guess I'll have to find room for it in my build. Whats's perhaps more concerning is the need for a DA brute to take acrobatics. My angel of death obviously needs to fly otherwise she'd be more of a frog of death and that's not quite so fitting with her backstory!
I might go have a play with mids hero builder and see what I can come up with. -
Love it. I remember when you first mentioned this and I thought to myself that I would make an effort to take part. An event list like that takes balls to organise and you quite obviously have the nuts for the job.
It is on union though isn't it? I hope so anyway. -
Hi there. I have just created a dark/dark brute myself and have found this thread very interesting so thanks to all those who posted. My theme also invloves flight which is annoying as I'll have to get sets that increase KB defence to try and make up for the lack of Acrobatics but thats's what you get for having themed villainesses I suppose.
My question regards the death shroud power and whether it is a neccessary skill to have. A lot has been said of it's endurance drain but not so much about it's damage potential. I myself was going to skip the power as I will be doing a lot of teaming with this villainess and value the defences side of her more than her DPS.
I look forward to hearing the opinions of more experienced players. -
ithink I fallin between the two camps a bit here. Perhaps as I'm fairly recently back to the game I haven't built up my annoyance to the blind invites so much yet. I only find it exasperating when people continue to hound you with either invites OR tells and there's always the ignore list for them.
I will readily accept blinds if I am up for teaming but how much I am commited to them depends on the manner of invite. If someone has politely asked if I would care to join them then I will do my utmost to be a dependable team member and contribute as much as I can for as long as I can. I will also inform them if I am only around for a mission or so before accepting the invite. If on the other hand I receive a blind invite then I will quite happily quit the team the minute I realise that something about it doesn't suit me.
So for me it's fine to blind but don't expect the same commitment from those you hook up with. -
As something of a newbie to empathing I rather think this guide was directed to myself and others like me. I found it very helpful thankyou and it will certainly lead to me being a better empath in the long run. My level 15 empath is only just getting used to spotting the states that people find themselves in and using clear mind. As for the buffs I think what you wrote makes perfect sense. Obviously each situation provides different challenges and it's pointless to argue over absolutes in these cases (though some seem to find pleasure in doing so
)
Anyhow just wanted to say thanks for the useful tips and I hope to be healing you soon in game. -
Loved the original thread so thought I'd contribute to this one. Whilst coming up with the name Daydream believer for my new Psi/mental blaster I thought of the following song names that would make good hero names.
Sister Morphine - probably a mind control AT
Black Dog - animal like scrapper perhaps
Jumpin' Jack Flash - leccy blaster with jump at a guess
and my favourite - Eldorado - tank built like a city with golden outfit. (with possible cloaking powers to avoid being found) -
Just couldn't resist posting that I love the name Johnny Moronic. Some people (much crueler than myself
) might say it summed up Keanu Reeves quite well. I certainly wouldn't call him names as "he knows kung-fu!".

Hello there Big Lunk. I am the Lady Rebekah but since you're obviously a well built and rich gentleman I guess you can call me Bec. If you're giving away money then I can't think of many - no scratch that - anyone more deserving than myself. I have no mutant genes to give me power, do not belong to a strange race descended from the heavens, nor do I cheat by using expensive technolgies to give me power. What I have are a good work ethic and natural talent which I have honed to a pinacle of excellence through practice. Recently I have noticed that my finances are in a bit of a state. I'll be honest I hadn't realised how much I've spent on looking good, but if you want to take weak men and turn them into real heroes like yourself, you need to make them focus on what you're doing and the clothes certainly help with that. So if you could be a darling and give me the grant that would be super, as I could turn my attention back to mentoring the young and less fortunate.
Delighted I'm sure.

Love the guide and the use of some beautiful words in it as well. Sadly I'm sure it's preaching to the converted as all the posters in this thread seem to have the knack of giving good names to their toons.
One thing that you didn't mention in the guide was using the media as a way to name a character. Be it from a film, book or song. My first hero was actually a sexy guy called Mojo Rising from the doors song LA Woman. He has an incredible libido and uses his black magical powers of seduction to bend people to his will. I have seen quite a few names cribbed directly and it's not exactly imaginative to copy outright. For example there's a Sephiroth walking around Paragon somewhere and probably a Mario and a Sonic Hedgehog too, but if you use slightly more obscure references then it can be very satisfying.
