((For those that didn't know, after many years of playing CoX, I'm leaving for greener (and bloodier) pastures.
I know what everyone says, "you'll be back", and yeah, I might be occasionally to check new content out, or participate in major game events (like the invasion was)

Anyway, I have a rather large pile of Influence sitting here, which has been collecting nicely after I got the finalised sets slotted in Lunk, and as I'm leaving, it's going to waste.

So, instead, I'm going to be doing something to encourage RP and whatnot

Clicky here for poster

Entries should be In Character, and along the lines of "I should receive the grant because...." as well as any information about the applicant.

Prizes will be 50million influence for the top, 25million for the 2 runners-up.
Application letters should be posted in this thread by next Saturday evening (17th of may)
Competition is open to all, as long as the character is a young person (although special circumstances may come into effect for the age group if the applicant is non-human)

Good luck to all those who take part))

To whom it may concern

My name is Ashley and i'm 16 years old and I belive I should get the grant for several reasons-

I recently moved from England with a degree in Molecular Genetics, atached is a copy of the certificate and refrences to my main teachers in Sussex.

I'm currently living with a friend, (who is a known hero in Paragon City) in Talos Island- unfortunatly there is a lack of equipment to follow up a theory I have, which I would be more than happy to discuss- but I would prefer a face to face meeting.

With the grant I belive I can help many mutants with there new found powers and help them control there newfound abilitys. I would also like to offer a diffrent job placement to others rather than the company known as "Crey".

I have a long future ahead of me and I belive with the grant I could help many generations of heroes.

Yours Faithfuly,

Ashley Gray

Dear.....

Hell I've never been good at this.....

Hey, my name's Relay....Danny Foster even.

I work in a TV Repair shop over in Skyway, money's lousy but it's about as good a job as I can get on account that nobody wants a mute working for them. Not going to give you any b/s about saving the world or anything like that. To me the grant represents something more personal.

Why should I get it?

I'm honest. The money'd go towards paying my way. My costume's forever getting damaged and repairs cost big time if I can't fix it myself. With the grant, I could buy myself a decent outfit, maybe one of those new fangled micromesh weave things I saw in the window at Icon. That way I could have more of a chance when I'm out there doing "my bit".

Anyway, we gotta stand up for the little guy, right?

Yours Hopefully,

Danny Foster

Hello there Big Lunk. I am the Lady Rebekah but since you're obviously a well built and rich gentleman I guess you can call me Bec. If you're giving away money then I can't think of many - no scratch that - anyone more deserving than myself. I have no mutant genes to give me power, do not belong to a strange race descended from the heavens, nor do I cheat by using expensive technolgies to give me power. What I have are a good work ethic and natural talent which I have honed to a pinacle of excellence through practice. Recently I have noticed that my finances are in a bit of a state. I'll be honest I hadn't realised how much I've spent on looking good, but if you want to take weak men and turn them into real heroes like yourself, you need to make them focus on what you're doing and the clothes certainly help with that. So if you could be a darling and give me the grant that would be super, as I could turn my attention back to mentoring the young and less fortunate.

Delighted I'm sure.

Rebekah

Hello people at KM-Tech!

My name's Fukada Kumiko I'm 15 years old and I believe I should receive the grant because it would allow me to pursue my chosen career without worrying about supporting a family back home.

I've worked hard to get to where I am now as a well respected member of Hero Corps and a successful entrant into a brand new television show, but without the financial burdens weighing me down I'm sure my career could really start to take off! I've put my soul into making it so people will look at Costumed heroes and not see us as some Hurclean figures sat on pedestals, but as productive and helpful members of a system just like them, working together for a common good and having a bit of fun as they do it. After all everyone has something they're good at, being able to do Calculus or program computers might not seem like an amazing thing to do to some people compared to say...super strength but it really is!

If the didn't convince you, well my hero name due to a series of unfortunate circumstances is Fanservice Girl. I think I deserve some kind of prize for managing to put up with it this long!

I'll also buy a Jetski. I think I'll stop writing there.

Yours Hopefully,

Fanservice Girl.

Okay, so I’ve read the poster and practically spat tea through my nose at the offer. I should also try not to write out what I think when I think it, but then I just wouldn’t be me.

I’ll get to the point now though.

Dear KM-Tech.

I should get this grant because… Well, let’s begin where I began and then I can at least say I’ve begun. Because everyone needs to have a beginning otherwise they can’t even exist. So here goes.

My name’s Eric Hart. I was born in England, in the South-West to be roughly exact, in a small village about halfway between the towns of Bath and Bristol. I’d lived there all my life until very recently, leaving only when my mutant genes kicked in and blew my house apart – along with half the street. It happened as the dramatic result of a gas-oven explosion at breakfast, which had killed both my parents and almost me and my sisters.

They survived that blast because my body absorbed it before it got to them and I survived for that same reason. It was just a pity that part of my mutation is also that the heat I absorb is released with equal force unless I control it, which I hadn’t learned to do yet, obviously. It’s a hell of a way to find out you’re a mutant.

This would have been okay, as my parents had the good foresight to get the house and their lives insured against such things as a gas leak blowing the place apart, and as that was the original cause of the damage they all paid out. The trouble came from the half-dozen other houses that were destroyed too, and as my neighbours all made claims against my parents for the loss of their homes, the insurance money from our house and the policies on my parents all went on rebuilding other people’s homes.

I was left with enough money for a plane-ticket to a place where registered super-powered beings could make an actual life for themselves instead of being a tabloid newspaper article for the dangers on mutants and other super-people. I had to leave, by the way. Not just my village (the other residents there all signed a petition to get me evicted from my smouldering crater) but the country. You see; my local housing authority said that destruction of your own home accounts to voluntary homelessness, and also because my rather large and sudden inheritance had been spent inside of six weeks – regardless the fact that it went on rebuilding half my street - that I had deliberately deprived myself of capital in an effort to get benefits.

…

Yeah, that’s what I thought too to be honest. So, what can a reasonably bright kid with no school qualifications or next-of-kin willing to let you kip on their couch do, other than live rough and work in a fast-food restaurant until he can afford a cardboard box? That’s right! Move to Paragon City.

I had my backpack full of not much and a pocket full of loose change after the plane-fare and currency exchange. Plus a Visa-waiver and return ticket ready and waiting to take me home unless I could get a job and a flat and someone to sponsor me to live here more permanently.

Now to the crux of the matter; I now have a flat in King’s Row, that I can afford not because I’m a super-hero or whatever it is you call it here. I have a flat because I begged the landlord to let me have it if I got a job that day, got a sub on my wages, and paid a full month’s rent as deposit. So I did what any American kid would do without any high-school grades or rich parents would do if they wanted to eat: I applied for a job in Up-N-Away Burger! But it turns out it gets better still, as an Up-N-Away burger chef, even one who can flash-cook fifty half-pounder’s in three seconds, doesn’t earn very much. So I had to get a second job in Bianco’s Italian restaurant in Overbrook.

I now work both jobs for most of every day, meaning I haven’t even done all that much heroing, and since I work a total of eighteen hours a day saving my bosses a fortune in gas bills and getting minimum wage, I don’t get out much either. 'But why do you need the grant?' I hear you ask. Well, that deposit I paid is running out, and even with two jobs I can’t afford this months’ rent, and since I still haven’t got a sponsor I’ll be deported as an ‘alien’ back to ‘Blightly where I face sleeping rough in a country that thinks I brought this on myself. Great huh?

If you can find the compassion to give out the grants you mention in the posters I see on my bus-ride to and from my jobs every day, maybe you’ll read my astoundingly-implausible over-hyphenated but absolutely-true sob-story and send me a small slice of that compassion-cake. Then I can pay my rent, feed my cat, buy some non-fast-food to eat to stop me eating that cat in desperation for real meat, and stay in this city of heroes and actually do some heroics. Because frankly, I don’t want to be a chef for the rest of my life.

Yours sincerely,

Eric Hart, registered super-powered being alias: Hearth and Heart. (Because home is where your hearth and heart lay. (Hooray for poetry club.))

((aaand that's it folks :P
okay, took me a while to decide, but the winners are....

His_Hairiness: 50 million inf.
Good length, good reasons, and IC the orphan angle is something that would catch Lunk's attention.

Ashley gray: 25 mill.
Fanservice: 25 mill.
Both well put across. Liked fans' jetski comment (humour is always good) and Ashley's mention of references.

Special surprise bonus for Merrow and rebekah: 1 million each for taking part.

Prizes are going to have to be claimed before the 22nd of may, and as i'm a wee bit busy, post in this thread the best time to drop the inf across to you, and i'll get there.

If it cant be done before the 22nd, i WILL try and leave the prizes with a trusted 3rd party, and let you know in this thread.

once again, excellent work, all of you. and thank you for taking part ))
