Not really, and Ghostie has more than two versions of Grav Mistress.
Annette has two versions currently, though they happen to be largely indistinguishable, Scrapper and Brute, both DB/WP. Slowly growing up over on Defiant, however, are her other two alter-egos, a Thugs/Dev MM and an AR/Dev Blaster. The MM is mostly there for the dual-pistols, which seem such a Ni thing to have, and the Blaster is going to specialise very heavily in sniping because one potenial way Ni develops is doing a lot of black ops.
If anything, of course, these alter-egos are weaker than her 'normal' forms, having fewer hits and far weaker defences (though a bunch of thugs taking the hits for you works quite adequately).
I generally don't like having multiple characters who can do many, disperate things. It smacks of powergaming too much. OTOH, a basic model human could learn to shoot pistols and buy some followers, or learn to use a rifle and be a sniper, so... Plus, roleplay-wise, she isn't going to whip out a gun when she's being Nitoichi (though, that's just a recipe, for a pistol anyway) because the two more extreme identities are supposed to be secret. -
RPing with friend, where ever it happens, is better than GG or PD.

2:25pm
Operative Seven finished going through the police and forensics reports for the murders. The conclusion was obvious, Mechano was not the murderer. That said, he could have hired someone... It was worth investigating. She began running records to determine whether any known assassins were operating in the city with the right MO. -
It's worth a look. It's not for everyone.
And on any given night it can be plot heavy, or just people chatting IC. -
Well...
[ QUOTE ]
would i be right to assume it would be better to join someone elses plot than making your own?
[/ QUOTE ]
Probably. Learn by observation before trying to run something yourself.
[ QUOTE ]
is it not a bit rude to 'butt in' in PD
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm not sure about PD, because I can't stand the place for longer than 20 seconds, but at GG, if the plot's happening out there in public, then it's theoretically open to all who think they can do something. -
[ QUOTE ]
MY IDEA was to create some sort of non-aggression system dependent on how you act throughout your career.
You dont attack a certain villain group for a while and they respond! - by not attacking you right away
[/ QUOTE ]
Technically, you're going to have a huge increase in stored data for each character, plus some fairly interesting alterations to the mob AI, plus you'd have to consider what happens when two people in a team have drastically different current reactions from a particular group.
It sounds good, but I can see it generating a lot of confusion in the AI and just resulting in mobs standing around looking dumb.
[ QUOTE ]
If u are assigned to kidnap someone, and he screams I dont wanna come with you! why is it, that he runs after you like a little duckling???!
[/ QUOTE ]
Well my theory on this goes something like: "Well, you see that guy over there who's head I just crushed into a bloody pulp? That's what you're gonna look like if you don't come quietly."
Frankly, your suggestion is just designed to make the entire process easier.
ARENAS: Well, your suggestion about the 'duelling arcade' is an arena. If you want in in-character reason why duels are kept to the Arenas, then maybe Recluse frowns upon street fights between his Destined Ones unless they occur in a controlled environment. So, Arenas.
Personally, if the Rogue Isles were similar to Goldshire, where you can't move without tripping over some pair of egoistic thickos trying to prove who's got the best FotM spec, I would be even less inclined to spend time there than I am now.

b) Why cant villains abduct civilians and bring them to a cell in the villain base and hold them like tamagotchies?
[/ QUOTE ]
Why would they want to?
[ QUOTE ]
c) Why cant villains steal on the street?
[/ QUOTE ]
I thought that's what I was doing. I beat up some smug idiot on the street, I get Inf.
If I just had to beat up civilians for it, I think I'd be within my rights to assume the returns would be practically nothing since otherwise it would just be a really brilliant farming exercise.
Overall, I think you're proposing systems which:
a. Would make the game easier under the guise of thematic improvements.
b. Are replacing roleplaying with system mechanics.
I don't think either of those things are good. -
Right, I've been waiting for this.
I'd like to nominated Happy_Dan, for pretty much his entire collection of NaNoDraMo drawings, as featured in this thread: http://uk.boards.cityofheroes.com/showfl...art=13&vc=1
If I have to pick just one, then I'll go for the last one, shown here: http://happy-dan.deviantart.com/art/...s-Ni-105020845
Selfishly, this one features one of my characters, but beyond that, it's a great piece of work which really catches the characters well. It was taken from a roleplay session, a grudge match between the two of them, and it really brilliantly captures the no-holds-barred nature of the fight. The expressions on their faces, particularly Columbia's, are excellent.
PS. There was a lot of excellent artwork in November. I'd love to nominate DrDestiny's stuff too, but since I'm only allowed one nomination and I've always preferred comic art drawn the way Dan does it, Dan gets the nomination. -
Long term...
Other locations: I think we'll quite possibly get something with any boxed expansion, but...
- Another city, perhaps, or something more like a few outlying towns. Salamanca, but bigger. At least some of these could be PvP or cooperative zones. (I'd actually love to see somewhere with PvP enabled, but not encouraged, sadly it won't live up to my hopes.)
- A proper wilderness area, maybe with a few 'abandoned' labs or military sites scattered in it.
- Something like the Stockade from the Champions universe would be nice. It's actually a fairly stock concept for superhero settings, but it may seem a bit too much like copying. -
Gotta say, I think the texturing is too heavy. It's actually rather hard to see what's going on, or who's who.
(I'm a fan of clean artwork, sorry.) -
Sounds right. Thought I had it in my default binds file, but apparently not.
-
But the name isn't the problem, it's the costume, and it's not that similar.

It IS way too easy to get around in the game
[/ QUOTE ]
So you'll not be using your additional movement powers then?
[ QUOTE ]
why make it even easier?
[/ QUOTE ]
For something like PvP? I couldn't care less. As far as I'm concerned, PvP needs an instant portal mechanism more than Ouroboros does. It's a fairly irrelevent adjunct to the game which provides amusement for some, and I see no reason why it should not be made somewhat easier to access, especially considering that they've scattered the access points across the entire map.
[ QUOTE ]
People in here are spoiled, and wouldn't last 5 minutes trying to get around in games like WoW or EVE.
[/ QUOTE ]
Try not to sound too much like a grumpy old man, FFM. You couldn't persuade me to waste my time on EVE if you paid my subs for 6 years, and WoW annoys the hell out of me everytime I log in now because it's soooo slooooow (artificially so, unfit me can run faster than that). But we're playing a superhero game, and 'it's too easy to move around' is one of those things you expect to hear from 80 year olds bemoaning the youth of today. -

and might encourage people who want to PvP (the fools) to actually head to a zone.

No LN, it won't.
Also, why are you replying to Floaty's pretty obvious trolling attempt on the first page? His argument is utterly dumb, but you've given it credence by responding to it. Shame on you, LN. Ignore the big floating troll. -
My personal challenges having completed my second 50...
Actually getting a villain past level 25 would be good.
Getting to 50 with something that isn't a Scrapper.
Actually doing ITF/STF.
Taking part in an IC Mothership Raid.
I set my sights low, but actually, those seem to be really tough challenges for me. -

I need to know or understand why you choose to repeat this diabolical pile of dingoes kidneys at every possible opportunity, but most of all, I need to know why you chose a quote which has absolutely nothing to do with the rest of your rant to hang it off.
I actually feel insulted that you should quote me and then go off one one like that. You've demonstrated time and again that you don't know what you're talking about. Please stop.
And please don't use me as a springboard for your rants unless you're quoting something I've said which is actually related. -

Yes, but the fact that I have to have my immersive experience through a TV screen kind of breaks it for me. Never understood this 'immersion' thing you all wine about.

QOL improvement
[/ QUOTE ]
QoL improvements are small, require lesser amounts of programmer effort and generally do not actually affect in-game experience at all.
Huge graphics changes do not (amazingly) count as such.
Not that I wouldn't say no to either of these suggestions. However, there's a few million other things I'd much rather have sorted out first. -
TV News, Channel 10, January 4th
A reporter looks straight at his teleprompter while the backdrop image shows a stock warehouse fire footage.
"Six gang members were killed, and four more injured overnight following an explosion in the Nebula District of Galaxy City. It is believed that the gang was using a warehouse for drug manufacturing and distribution, and that something went wrong in the process.
"There has been no comment from the police department regarding rumours that the drug being manufactured was new and that some radioactive material was used in the manufacturing process. However, it is known that one hero who responded to the fire alert had to be treated for 'non-standard burns' at the Cygnus Medical Centre." -

If were talking about real life what then its important to understand that what CoH calls a broad sword is more like a B******d Sword a true broad sword would be much larger.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hate to disagree, but you're using the wrong definition of 'broadsword.' A broadsword was named as such because it had a broad blade. It was one handed.
Then you had two-handed swords, like the Claymore, which were much longer and required their very own style to use effectively. It was also important not to stand near someone using one, even if you were a friend.
Then there's the mid-way, which we'll call a hand-and-a-half sword so there's less asterisks, which could be used one or two handed, if you were strong enough (and anyone using one probably was).
Katanas not only could be used one-handed, but were, frequently, especially in katas. However, power strokes and the like would be two-handed because it gives more, y'know, power, as well as better control. -

I'd also like to be able to run CoH (and another MMO (starts with a W and ends with a W... middle letter is O)) on the laptop
[/ QUOTE ]
WoW isn't too hard, it has fairly poor specs. Resolution won't be an issue, it's frame rate. Most laptops have sucky graphics systems. My other half is currently using a laptop at about the price you're talking about for WoW and if she gets better than 10fps she's lucky. However, it dpeneds a lot of the graphics adapter.
CoH... you're on pot luck with that one. You may be able to find a setting which gets it to run okay, or you might not. You will probably have poor frame rate, but maybe not. We had an old laptop that ran CoH brilliantly, as long as you turned shadows off. -

A recent example that springs to mind was the attack on Unity Tower as part of the Unity Vigil plotlines. Various comments were made to the effect that little melee characters were really quite shown up when some of the members were more or less single-handedly taking on a Kronos Titan.
[/ QUOTE ]
I should point out there that the only one who DID do that, Burned Ice, ran with her tail between her legs, being unable to even make it skid... If she'd not bailed, she'd likely have been seriously hurt... Her attacking it was sheer stupidity, and BOY did she get a telling off for it!

As I recall, WW sank it, but I may be remembering it wrong. -
They are both boring to play and boring to play against. However, the problem is generally that they are boring to play against.
You do not find them boring to play, because you like the idea of being able to do anything. You are hardly alone in this. It is actually fun to play that kind of character in a setting which is designed for that kind of character. White Wolk's supers game Aberrant has a baseline power level which makes Statesman look like a wimp. However, all the villains make Recluse look like the guy who came bottom of the class at evil school, and advancing further in power tends to involve you slowly (or sometimes rapidly) losing your humanity and becoming a bad guy (because White Wolf games wouldn't be White Wolf games if they weren't depressing pieces of <insert derogative>.
However, despite the fact that supers in CoX are clearly far better than average, they never (even at the levels of States and Recluse) gain the world-shattering power levels that many roleplayers give their characters. Left unchecked, this makes them boring to play, in reality, since there is absolutely no challenge the world can throw at them that they do not find trivial. And since many characters they interact with will not have this level of power, they are entirely superflous to requirements.
A recent example that springs to mind was the attack on Unity Tower as part of the Unity Vigil plotlines. Various comments were made to the effect that little melee characters were really quite shown up when some of the members were more or less single-handedly taking on a Kronos Titan.
