Boy Explodes in Busy Mall

Reports were filed yesterday of a teenager having exploded in a busy Mall in Downtown. Eye witnesses claimed that the boy ran from a clothing store screaming, shouted that everyone should get clear, and then 'exploded.'

Mariana trent, 25, said, "yeah, he was, like, totally glowing and screaming like he was in mondo agony. Then he started yelling that he was going to blow and I, like, ran. Got hit in the back by this mega shockwave. Guess he's toast."

Police found no remains of the unidentified by. Security cameras in the mall were blacked out prior to the incident and no footage of the boy was taken. Two people died and fifteen were treated for heat and radiation burns. The Mall is currently closed for what the FBSA are describing as 'decontamination' work.

This story also appears in Paragon City newspapers, though generally as smaller articles on page four or five.

Terrorist Destroys Newsstand

Dateline Flagstaff Arizona where terror has come to our great desert community. A terrorist destroyed a newsstand at the Amtrak station, killing the news vendor and injuring twelve other people. Reports indicate that the man exploded some form of suicide bomb after being challenged by police, who were among the injured.

Homeland Security have not commented on the incident.

This story also appears on the second page of several newspapers in Paragon City with an addendum to the effect that it is difficult to believe that anyone would want to suicide bomb anything in Flagstaff.

Evidence of Terrorist Dirty Bomb on Train

Kansas City, Missouri. An Amtrak passenger carriage on an overnight train from New Mexico was taken out of service early this morning and several passengers treated for radiation poisoning.

Inside sources in Homeland Security have stated that there were high radiation levels found in one of the sleeping carriages. No one was registered as occupying that carriage, and no one was found there, despite the radiation. Homeland Security and FBI agents are currently on alert for potential targets, and citizens have been asked to be on the lookout for strange objects left in public areas.

All the passengers are expected to fully recover.

Amtrak Train Derailed, 10 Dead

Hannah, Pennsylvania. The sleepy town of Hannah was awoken in the early hours of Saturday morning by the sound of grinding metal and explosions. A night train bound for Scranton had derailed killing 10 passengers and injuring 34 more as well as 9 crew.

Eye witness reports speak of an explosion in one of the passenger compartments, but neither local police nor Homeland Security were able to comment at time of going to press. One local farmer reported seeing a teenage boy running from the wreck site just after the crash, but again, no official word on this was available.

Nuclear Alert!

Police and other emergency services were put on alert last night after several automated systems in New York detected abnormaly high levels of radiation in several areas of the city. Homeland Security officials are linking the alert with the discovery of 'dirty bomb' materials in Missouri earlier in the week.

An announcement by Homeland Security spokesperson Wanda Meerling stated, "Currently, there is no cause for citizens to be alarmed. We advise caution when opening packages from unknown sources, and constant vigilence. Please be on the lookout for anyone acting suspiciously, and for future announcements."

Additional security measures at post offices are expected to cause some delays to Christmas post.

Explosion and Fire Destroy Warehouse

A warehouse near the martialling yard was destroyed last night when fuel tanks exploded, setting fire to the building. Police and Fire services were unable to explain at time of press why the tanks had exploded, but arson is currently not suspected.

An investigation is underway regarding reports of abnormally high radiation levels in the warehouse after the fire, but Fire service spokesperson Martin Brand reassured local residents. "There is no evidence of illegally stored radioactive materials at the site. An investigation is underway, but we believe the radioactivity was a by product of the combustion of some material stored there, now totally destroyed. There is no need for alarm."

TV News, Channel 23, December 26th

"A fire in a department store resulted in some of Paragon's fire department and a few heroes skipping Christmas dinner yesterday. The fire was quickly contained, and one hero supplied mulled wine in celebration for the departing crews.

"The fire apparently started in the outdoor goods section, but the cause has yet to be determined."

"And now in other news: does this duck really quack hymns whenever it sees the image of the Cross? More after this word from our sponsers."

A reporter looks straight at his teleprompter while the backdrop image shows a stock warehouse fire footage.

"Six gang members were killed, and four more injured overnight following an explosion in the Nebula District of Galaxy City. It is believed that the gang was using a warehouse for drug manufacturing and distribution, and that something went wrong in the process.

"There has been no comment from the police department regarding rumours that the drug being manufactured was new and that some radioactive material was used in the manufacturing process. However, it is known that one hero who responded to the fire alert had to be treated for 'non-standard burns' at the Cygnus Medical Centre."
